Because the war on Christmas would not be complete without the sacrilege of non-Christmas specific holiday crafts.
This season, Lucy pays homage to Orlando Bloom in the classic slouch hat knitted in broken rib stitch. The pattern can be found for free at Ravelry, where you can friend me as JaneHamsher.
I also knitted some fishtail pattern wrist warmers for myself, made out of Paton’s Kroy sock yarn:
I very much enjoyed seeing people’s art projects on the equally sacrilegious Happy Thanksgiving Knitting, so if you’d really like to get under Bill O’Reilly’s skin feel free to leave links to your holiday (or non-holiday) artistry in the comments.

Happy holidays and a not so artful food prep from Monday. I’ll enjoy my eggnog after reading the instructions for baking, next time.
I mixed a yeast apple/raisin nut bread, but I reversed the instructions from mix, then pour into loaf pans and let rise, to let it rise in the mixing bowl, pour into the pans and then bake.
Apple-solutely delicious flatbread. Appearances thankfully deceiving.
Beautiful warmers if I may say, and keyboarding friendly.
Merry Christmas Jane Hamsher – to you and yours!
T.
Thank you! Yes, they’re keyboard friendly. Though hopefully I won’t be blogging in the cold any time soon. Hate the cold.
And to you, DE!
I need to ask my SIL if she has a persona on Revelry. I’m going to call her later. I am basically kicking back today, and since I got out the sewing machine for making catnip mice the other night (it was not easy, next year making catnip caterpillars for sure), I am thinking of finally making the closet curtains I have been planning for a few months now. . .that would be one project off one horizontal surface.
I made gingerbread, Gangnam style for some of my cookie plates. You can see it on my FB. I think that was the main creative limb I was out on. Way out on that one.
Happy knitting, Jane.
Merry Christmas, Jane, the look suits Lucy!
and those are gorgeous wrist warmers.
lol gingerbread gangnam style
Incredibly, not Everyone has experienced Gangnam style, so the effort is lost on some souls. lol
Lose! or is it Loose?
Adorable. You Girls!
I’m traveling soon to the the mountains above Salt Lake City and today I received a knitted poncho which will help keep me comfy and cozy.
Merry Merry Jane!
And super thanks for the wrist warmer link since I’ve been looking for a pattern just like that.
I made many of my gifts this year. The best was my first gansey. lynnb54 on ravelry.
I can’t wait to see the forthcoming creations from a local textile artist. Handmade, wearable art rulz!
Right now I’m experimenting with some lamb’s wool that was sent to me by one friend and handspun for me by another. The experiment’s not finished yet and I may well rip it down completely when I’m done, but so far it looks interesting.
Sending warm vibes your way. :-)
Good Morning Jane and Firedogs,
are we posting sacrilegious crafts ? ’cause I made an Ikea Monkey as this year’s ornament (only because oldnslow wouldn’t let me have Stripper Pole Angel for a tree topper – the noive!)
