  Thanks, John. I know all this is a lot, but it answers so many questions for me. I don’t know if Chip Tatum had a choice as a very young AF volunteer (during the military draft era) as to whether to go to Special Forces training, but thereafter he was on a road that he could not escape from or refuse to travel. To do so would have been to die swiftly.

  I would really like to see some of the Vets here at the Lake give us their take on all this.

  Here is the link to the 3 page NSC-NSDD-30 (National Security Decision Directive) signed April 10, 1982 by Ronald Reagan. Click the page (gets a different pic of same), then click that page and it enlarges to readable size. The large redaction on page 2 is explained above in my # 13.

  It shows it was “reviewed 10 April 1988 (GHWB ??), and an action (illegible) was dated 11/27/1992 by hand. (Clinton ??)

  With sort of a secret smile Tatum says, “…it’s sorta hard to distinguish between the 2 – Reagan/Bush..” So, were VP GHWB’s methods of handling Reagan where Cheney learned how it’s done?

   “On Saturday, April 27, 1996, Colby died in an apparent boating accident near his home in Rock Point, Maryland. His body was found, underwater on Monday, May 6, 1996. The subsequent inquest found that he died from drowning or hypothermia after collapsing from a heart attack or stroke and falling out of his canoe.

   Still, the fact was that Colby had more enemies than friends. In the period between September 1973 and his dismissal in November 1975 as CIA director, Colby testified before congressional committees 56 times. When Congress asked him a question, he gave a straight answer. The Intel guys hated him for it. They thought it was his duty to lie. Readers will recall that it was Colby who originally recruited Tatum into the CIA in 1971, and set him on his career as a covert intelligence operator. Since that time, Tatum had developed a fondness for the super-spook and Colby, in turn, played the role of mentor.

   In his letter, Tatum asked Colby to write a forward for his book “Operation Red Rock” which he had completed just two months earlier.

   The letter adds “I also had stills and an audio clip of a meeting added to the video. Out of respect for you I have kept your name out to this point, but if you don’t separate yourself from these terrorists, I will have no choice but to reveal your involvement also. Either way – the group will be exposed – by the media or by the investigating committee. Either way they’re out of gas!” Tatum closes the letter by saying “Mr. Colby – you’ve done too much for your country to be disgraced in the manner that these men will be.”

   Less than two months later, the former DCI was reported missing. By Monday, 6 May 1996, Colby’s body was found and later he reported to have died following a “canoeing” accident on the Wicomico river, Maryland. “

    According to “Family of Secrets” by Russ Baker (about the Bush family) George HW Bush was CIA from the time he graduated Yale. Bush was in Dallas the day before Kennedy was shot. On the day Kennedy was shot Bush made a phone call from someplace other than Dallas as if to prove he wasn’t in Dallas at the time of the assassination. GHWB should be waterboarded. Bet he knows a lot and his son says waterboarding isn’t torture.

  The proof for Bush’s lie about his CIA past can be found in a document, declassified in 1988.

  It’s a memorandum of FBI director J Edgar Hoover to the State department, dated 29 November 1963. It describes a meeting, one day after JFK’s murder, between FBI and CIA officials talking about the reaction of the Cuban exile community to the Kennedy Assassination. The last paragraph states that the “the substance of the foregoing information was orally furnished to us and George Bush of the Central Intelligence agency”. Here we have the name of George Bush mentioned as a CIA official in direct connection to the Kennedy assassination. When asked by journalists, he initially stated “It’s not me, must be another Bush!” This was checked and found to be NOT true. When asked again, a spokesperson for Bush declined to comment any further. The obvious question is: Why does Bush need to lie about it?

    Just for the record, a lot of the things Tatum has documented were written about by others. I’m not saying he wasn’t involved in these actions, I think his recollections and his documents corroborate what others have stated before about Mena, Clinton, and Poppy Bush. The fact that the right-wing crazies zeroed in on Mena while Clinton was president made it almost certain that people on the left would view the allegations as bullshit and so they were discounted.

    There’s a book called Barry and the Boys that documents Barry Seal’s involvement with the CIA and Iran-Contra. That C-123 that’s mentioned in one of Tatum’s flight plan documents is the same plane that was used in a secret video that the Reagan admin “leaked” to prove that the Sandinistas were smuggling cocaine into the US except the people in the picture and those on the plane were actually working for the government. (That same plane was later used by Dubya during his campaign for president). Seal was prosecuted by the DEA after he complained about the video being leaked because the Medellin cartel put a contract out on him due to the video. When he was sentenced to the halfway house, his attorney was pissed because now Seal’s whereabouts were public knowledge and he was basically a sitting duck. He had made a phone call threatening to reveal what he knew when he was killed and the murder was pinned on Coloombians. Like George deMohrenschildt, Lee Harvey Oswald’s first intel contact in Dallas who was also killed, Seal had George H. W. Bush’s personal phone number in his address book.

    There is a lot of other stuff that can be said, but like the penguin, I’m not going into it here. There are allegations that both Bush and Clinton had ties to the cartels, Bush with Medellin and Clinton with Cali. Look at Pablo Escobar’s treatment while Clinton was president. One thing I will say is that I was in Vietnam and I know that Air America was used to transport opium which was a unit of currency there for the higher ups in the Saigon government.

    Hasn’t it always been a little fishy that George Bush knew about Clinton’s travels in Moscow and Eastern Europe while he was a student, right down to the staple mark on Clinton’s passport application? Doesn’t it seem odd that the two men are such good friends? BTW, Web Hubbel, the justice dept official who had to resign during Clinton’s first term, was also implicated in this cocaine smuggling operation and Bush’s name came up more than once in other books written by people involved who were later arrested and prosecuted so that they would be ignored when they went public with what they knew. That’s how the game is played.

  Thank you for responding, James. This whole bizarre mess and the unthinkable loss of our Law’s supreme place is something very hard for me to consider real, in the reality I used to know. I’m female and pretty far down the shady side of the slope, therefore have no first-hand knowledge of what is true about what is written about VN, Laos, Cambodia and the CIA’s alleged involvement. (I had my hands full tending to 5 small kids back then). That is why I value the views of people who were there and know what they are talking about, and again, thank you.

  I’ve been reading as fast as I can to learn what was really going on back then while I was singing in the sunshine of ignorance. That reading pretty well goes along with your statements.

  Whew! That’s about 5 years of reading, blue. Most interesting part of the site is in the gray box in right column; not complimentary. 17 years to respond to a FOIA request? Is old Kissinger the only remaining culprit alive? Prouty, in The Secret Team, tells of US involvement in SE Asia back to the very time that Japan signed the surrender. For now, I tend to believe Prouty’s overview of the whole debacle.

  blue, I searched: Panama,murder,2007 Archives are very skimpy but there is one report that on 04/23/2007 a 20-ton cocaine cache was seized by US Coast Guard off the coast of Panama claimed to be a shipment by Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa drug cartel. And on 04/05/2007 about the same except states that the original source of that report was The Houston Chronicle.

  There may be no connection at all. In your opinion, what was the message to be read in the very distinctive manner in which they killed CT?

    The discovery of the aircraft, in a database compiled from Federal Aviation Agency records, appears to corroborate part of the story Mr. Arar has told many times since his release in 2003. The records show that a Gulfstream III jet, tail number N829MG, followed a flight path matching the route he described. The flight, hopscotching from New Jersey to an airport near Washington to Maine to Rome and beyond, took place on Oct. 8, 2002, the day after Mr. Arar’s deportation order was signed.

    So, N987SA was involved in drugs and renditions (kidnapping) and I wish I could also say N829MG was involved in drugs for sure but it was definitely used for renditions

  John, have you watched the online clips of the History Channel, last chapter to The Men Who Killed Kennedy? Title: The Guilty Men. Speaking as an old native Texan, I believe it. I could ramble on, but will wait until some here have watched it because to those not familiar with dirty TX politics it is too bizarre.

  There is also an old 1973 movie with Burt Lancaster & Robert Ryan and Will Geer, the Big Oil Man, entitled, Executive Action. It’s online in segments but the DVD is much better. Prouty advised on that too. I’ll get link to part 1 and post later.

    To All who have commented here: Thanks mightily for taking the large chunk of time to watch and read and especially to each of you for sharing your take on the many aspects of this segment of The Big Mess our country has become. That is exactly what I had hoped would happen when I posted the diary. It’s good to know that each of you are out there.

    I’m thankful that I’m female, for had I been male the draft would have gotten me back in about 1953 – there would have been no choice but to join the military. That thought branches off into so many possibilities … I’ll just limply say, “thanks, fellows, for what you did…”

    Do I see Chip Tatum as a hero? Too old to believe in heroes; I recognize and respect heroic acts (few if any to my credit). Possibly his strongest character trait was that he could not lie to himself, and did the best he could to extricate himself from the trap the power-mad controllers had him imprisoned in. He fought the good fight against them; and may yet beat them with the documentation he has left behind. RIP, Chip Tatum; and yes, there’s somebody out here.

  Well, NOYK, you sure don’t mess around with easy questions, do you? Here’s my views:
  Q:I wonder how many Americans know about this information;
  A: Too few. Avid reader all my life; never heard of Chip Tatum ’til found this.

  Q: how many would even want to know,
  A: 2 out of 7 ? as in my family (if we’re lucky)

  Q: or believe it if they did?
  A: This is the sad part. Truth is too awesome for most people, and it is scary as Hell! (if we refuse to look, it won’t be there). Lying to myself was never a privilege I had.

  Q: More pressingly, what can we do about the utter corruption that’s rife in our government?

  Ideas: Term limits for congressmen and senators; no more 40 fat years to feed at the lobbyists troughs. One 6-year term for presidents, no re-election. That would stop policy engineered to gain re-election.

  Keep bombarding Obama and Holder until our Constitution, laws and treaties are fully restored, then put them into effect against all who break them, no matter how high ranking.

  Get rid of the Federal Reserve Bank and issue our own bank notes/certificates – as JFK actually did for a while.

  Trouble with all that is Congress would have to make most of those big changes and they’re primarily responsible for allowing it to get like this. They’ll never go for limited terms for themselves. Most (not all) gave up their integrity long ago and are afraid of their own shadow.
