Dick Cheney’s disgusting, ego-centric interview with Lehrer tonight made my skin crawl. I want him away and out of office, totally devoid of further influence in the world. It is not my way to wish him or anyone else ill in general. I just want him away, FAR away from anything of value, any persons that anyone else holds valuable, any power over any part of the world. The degree to which his behavior and influence have been tolerated in this world is stunning and disturbing to me, even though apparently not to himself.
Some may criticize an interview like that televised by Lehrer tonight. What CAN one say? What SHOULD one ask of such a … person? I thank Mr. Lehrer for allowing Cheney to reveal a bit more of his inner self to the world, in hideous, chilling, quiet form. It was obvious Dick Cheney regards his own bizarre view of personal responsibility and actions as logical.
It would be easy for an interviewer to interrupt, shout and argue at every turn. It is harder, and more instructive, to ask a few well-chosen questions and otherwise let a person with such an aberrant psyche try to explain his chosen life path without interruptions that might only serve to cloud the insanity of his message.

go Adie!
I didn’t see this particular episode of the Dick Cheney Torture Victory Tour but it’s just getting so beyond creepy. I cannot see how this will ”work” for him. Bush said a thousand times ”we do not torture” and now Cheney is admitting we did???? And, according to emptywheel planting Woodward stories in the WaPo? Like ”it would have been immoral NOT to torture in order to protect the homeland.” gah. gah. gah, gah, gah.
There is something seriously wrong if Cheney thinks this will work. And he long ago blew past any boundaries of decency. It was a better strategy for him to stay in the shadows.
And it would have been much easier on folks like you and me!
Yeah. My tolerance level for schdick overflowed eons ago, sorta like that arsenic-laced coal-ash sludge “pond”.
One of the creepiest moments for me during Lehrer’s interview was hearing dick answer when Lehrer kindly and respectfully asked after his health, in particular, his heart health.
In the past, I gained some experience caring for a close acquaintance who suffered from heart failure – the slow, progressive kind. There are apparently often behavioral effects typical of the condition. I was told, and watched before me, that a person thus afflicted can appear perfectly lucid and logical one moment, and yet the next, seemingly unaware themselves of the change, mentally turn on a dime so the logic morphs into deep suspicion and cunning, and even a formerly loving person may act with surprising, disturbing and deliberate malice without appearing aware of the change in their own attitude and perceptions.
Dick Cheney scares me. I want him away, far away from all the dangerous toys in our world, for his sake and for ours. He has my full invitation to keep talking, if that is his desire. I just don’t want him to touch anything of value. Dick Cheney has done our world more than enough harm already. Whether blindly or wantonly, his intentions were and are immaterial.
Besides, imho, he wasn’t all that lovable even before the old ticker started playing skip-to-ma’-loo.
