   Adie and Boo — I appreciate the plug (shameless as it is) but you need to know something..without the support and encouragement of certain parties among TPTB(The Powers That Be)here at the Lake, I never would have had the courage to do any of this, or go out and get a blog or anything. Big kudos go to them and I certainly appreciate everything everyone has done for me. Let’s put credit where it is due.

  Thanks Toby. I surmised as much, and I thank the “powers that be” also for the boost they’ve given you.

  You, however, have very special gifts of knowledge as well as of ability to explain varied and complicated “tricks of the trade” for becoming as independent as one would like, within the constraints of the age, whether they be familial, time, dovetailing with a job, scarcity of resources, etc.. You hold keys that will be very valuable to everyone willing to dive in headfirst to understand fields of everything from sewing to sowing, and deciding what is reasonably worth their efforts. One of the simpler, unavoidable truths of doing for yourself is that it takes personal time and effort. Not everyone has the same capacity or inclination to tackle the same sorts of tasks that others will. Your sort of blog, and your talents in a wide array of fields, will help immeasurably to guide folks as they make the necessary decisions before committing themselves to whatever path they choose.
