I found the excellent Parenti interview about one-third of the way through this jazz program by moving the slider bar.

Thanks for sharing these links Alan.
Great to be connected to Davis. I’ll post this as one of the permanent links on my website.
I love Parenti and his work. One of the most remarkable things about him that I remember about his work is that he was among the first who pointed out that racism served a purpose of dividing the working class. Perhaps others did before him, but Parenti’s explanation of it was what stuck with me.
I like his idea of “nationalize Wall Street”
The most outrageous news from this interview was to learn that JP Morgan Chase had give $4.5 million to the NYPD. Unless that was a donation to police fund for widows (and perhaps even so) that smacks of bribery.
That’s what happens in thuggeries like Russia or even Mexico. You buy the police.
We are a banana republic and it’s time to do something about.
Addendum: Once again we have liberals marveling over Texans having liberals. I couldn’t help but notice how many times Parenti say that he was so surprised that Houston has an Occupy Houston event. Houston, like Dallas, is a very diverse and international city. Neither city is the same city it was during the Kennedy years and yet the press and many intellectuals who should know better act as if it is.
Houston is a city with almost 2 million people (1, 900,000 something I can’t remember)–the majority of which are not white. 49.3% (including Hispanic or latino) But 37% of the population are Hispanics or latinos so that should tell you how scare the anglos are in Houston.
Texas District 18 (one of the largest districts of the Houston area) of the US House of Representatives has consistently elected a Democrat to office since 1972. Sheila Jackson Lee currently serves.
So why should Parenti be “surprised” that Houston has an Occupy Houston?
Only if he has a mindset of Houston like many Americans do of Texas that is based on facts pre-1972
another one:
I think this just goes to show you how brainwashed Americans are by the stereotypes that mainstream media throw in our faces. We draw our conclusions from their disinformation and focus on the irrelevant.
That even people like Parenti show evidence of having bought some of the hogwash is strong evidence of the power of corporate owned media propaganda.
Liz; I’m passing your comments along to Parenti.
Liz, Michael Parenti had some difficulty trying to get on here to post his response and asked me to post it. Here it is:
“I’m happy about Houston and about Sacramento and Jersey City and other “Occupy” places that do not normally come into the news with protest actions. I saw Liz’s comments; nice to know that argumentative one-upmanship is alive and well on the left.”
