What I don’t understand is, if there is a high degree of consensus among the voters of the country, why is it so hard to find a strategy for consensus among Democratic Senators and Representatives? It should be relatively easy to convince the Congress critters that the voters are watching what they do, who they’re doing it with, and who is paying how much for what end result. We should be able to convince voters that they should not be pleased if Democratic Senators throw the Democratic President to the wolves in his first year. It should not be hard to convince those Dems that the voters will not be able to avoid the knowledge of Dems betraying the President, including the implication they did it because they were so seduced by the green of the lobbyists money. If folks don’t see it on the news, we’ll be happy to draw their attention to Senators that are more loyal to lobbyists than constituents or party. It shouldn’t be all that hard to point out that, while the Senate was full of largesse for the duration of the previous administration, giving in to virtually all of Bush’s demands for more wars, more money for contractors to fight those wars, more money for contractors to take jobs away from Iraqis in their own country, more money to throw down a black hole leading to Halliburton and its subsidiaries, Custer Battle, Blackwater, et al., they are now being chintzy with their own constituents where it comes to programs that will benefit us here at home. Now is when they’ve chosen to become cost-conscious? Interesting timing, Dems. Plays right into Jim DeMint’s plan to "break" the President, too. As the Rethugs say, it’s our money, and I want to spend it on health care for everyone, and apparently so do 76% of the population.

I gotta flash for the Congress: I want our tax dollars to be used to lift the burden of providing health care sufficient for all Americans from employers, to become the responsibility of the government, ultimately. I see that as a realistic, the best, and maybe the only way to make healthcare portable from cradle to grave. I want it to be done in such a way that it does not cause an exodus of reliable health care professionals due to using payment rates structured in the year 2000. I want it to be done in such a way that new drugs are still researched and produced. But now I want the benefit of low cost drugs to be to the people whose tax dollars produced the research from which those drugs were derived. I want it to be done so that we keep whatever was good about our former system and yet we are able to dispose of our toxic medical financial waste that has been poisoning our political system and the economy for most of my lifetime. That’s what I want and expect from this Congress and this Administration. I would welcome any help to get to my goals from Republicans that they might offer, but if they offer no help, I want it anyway, and I want it now. That means no August recess until they’ve accomplished more in regard to health care. The good news is, if they do this in time to take their August recess, then maybe Obama could make some lovely recess appointments to the Depts. of State and Justice. Then, and only then, will I lighten up and allow myself to feel content with our current crop of Democrats in Congress and in the Administration.
