Health care opponents don’t have any more excuses.
Yesterday’s Congressional Budget Office "score" shows the health care bill would be even better than expected at reducing the deficit. If you’re serious about cutting spending, you have to be supporting this bill.
Sometimes it feels more like we’re playing a game of "Health Care Chutes and Ladders" – climbing forward one day, slipping back the next – but we’re getting near the top of the board.
To finish the job, I challenged 5,000 grassroots donors to show Congress that Americans want real reform. I need your help to meet that goal before the health care vote this weekend.
This bill will cut costs for everyone, protect the uninsured, and actually reduce the budget deficit. And we’ve never been closer to getting it done.
Thanks for your continued support. I know I can count on you to help me build our voice for real, progressive reform during this weekend’s pivotal health care vote.
Thanks,
Anthony

Lemme make sure I have this right….
You utterly fail at producing a decent health care bill, and come here trying to shill for more money?
Fool me once? I donated $100 a few months back.
Fool me again? Forget it.
WAKE UP LIBERALS!! WE HAVE NO PLACE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!!
Anybody could reduce the deficit by taxing and fining the middle class. Break pledges often? Really asking for donations after you lied and took our money before. Now that takes guts, to bad you didn’t use the same type of arrogance to get a public option.
****, Anthony Weiner. You talk so tough about keeping the insurance companies in line and needing a public option and now all of a sudden we should be pushing this piece of shit bill? You’ve got your health insurance for life, but some of us have to actually live with the disaster you are pushing on us. And don’t even think about asking us for money. You just sold us out to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies so you could all get their money but you can’t be happy with that? We have to give you our money, too? ******* and all your filthy rich “friends” from K Street more than happy to make you filthy rich, too. We all need to start saving every dime to pay our extortion to the health care mafia, thanks to people like you. With friends like you, who needs Republicans?
Mod note: Edited and released by mod.
******* sell out.
How dare you come here and ask us for money. Where’s your damn honor?
Your word is meaningless to us…you’ve lied one to many times.
Go beg for money somewhere else, you **** *****.
Weiner,
As a result of your bullshit throughout the debate, you have lost my support for good and I will speak out against you at Firedoglake whenever you appear with more of it. Your mealy-mouthed bullshit is exactly why it’s been so difficult to build real, progressive reform.
You are part of the problem, whining on television and in chats when you should be taking action and being weak when the progressive movement needs strength.
Grayson’s using his failure to raise money, too. He’s calling for a moneybomb next week. You fucking people are shameless failures.
Take your bullshit somewhere else.
Anthony Weiner is a wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry.
I had the feeling that your response to Weiner’s nonsense was going to be the most restrained.
Are you kidding with this? We know the truth about this bill and we are not buying any of your bullshit.
Try the folks over at Daily Kos. They are into the kool-aid.
Is there a single person in this nation who qualifies as a “health care opponent?” Of course not.
So, right off the bat, you’re deploying absurd and misleading language as part of an effort to sell for personal benefit (literally – see your donation link in the midst of this diary) a public-funded, government-mandated gift to private for-profit corporations, that will simply further entrench and empower those for-profit corporations, in the name of “health care.” [Thus, if this passes into law, the nation and all its people will have "health care" (supposedly, sometime in the distant future), you and your colleagues will no doubt claim, and your "work" will be done.]
It’s certainly telling that the corporations get enforcement, by way of the IRS, of their new federally-mandated customer base, but the people forced to buy their largely-worthless insurance policies (because full of unaffordable loopholes if actually used, even though taxpayers are helping pay the corporate premiums) get no meaningful enforcement of the purported new regulations or restrictions on those policies and corporate monopolies. And, as with current Medicaid patients, none of the well-heeled swells in Congress will give a damn that millions more “covered” Medicaid enrollees won’t be able to find any local doctors to treat them, because Medicaid federal reimbursements don’t come close to covering the cost of care, and will remain woefully inadequate, as Congress knows full well.
Provisions in the bill that promise to raise money to pay for its program(s), but aren’t scheduled to kick in for another 8 years, will obviously never be allowed to kick in, as all of you in Congress again know full well. The self-congratulating claims about the bill being budget-neutral, or even reducing the deficit, are just more PR for the (you’re hoping) gullible masses. It’s obvious that no one has any idea how the federal deficit will be affected by this legislation, over the next decade or two, at this point in time, years before full implementation.
But your job is about much more than the federal deficit, and making actual “health care” – which huge numbers of insured Americans today already cannot afford – affordable should have been the top priority of this Democratic Congress, as opposed to being an objective that, at best, is scraping the bottom of the barrel of the pending legislation’s priorities.
This diary is astonishingly tone-deaf hubris in action.
Not to worry though: Your one and only constituent, the President of the United States, is getting everything he asked for, and more, and will no doubt be redirecting your way some lucrative corporate contributions to the Party, as a result.
May you reap what you are sowing.
Thanks, but NO THANKS!!!… Take this up with the K-STREETERS in the back room.
I thought that PaulaT would have written a polite “f******” and so was pleased to see in her comment @ 3:
Come to think of it. I called Grayson out in my comment @ 6 for trying to pull the same bullshit, but I didn’t sum up my thoughts about Weiner as well as most of the rest of you have.
*******, Anthony Weiner.
Mod note: Edited and released by mod.
This bullshit was obviously written for DKos. Weiner’s just so fucking shameless that he put this bs up here, too, thinking he might get a few more suckers to send him their money.
Weiner, you’re [edited].
Mod note: Edited and released by mod.
I am just curious to know if Aliens came down and have now taken over.
Btw, I used Weiner’s pathetic call for contributions as an opportunity to make another contribution to Firedoglake. Please consider doing the same.
https://secure.firedoglake.com/page/contribute/donatetofdl
You’re joking, right? Right, Weiner?
I am generally a firm but polite person and I can’t think of even a handful of times I have told anyone “**** ***” But, in all honesty, that’s exactly what Weiner deserved. And then some. I was so angry I even wrote a separate diary about it and now I’ll probably get banned. Oh well.
Mod note: Edited and released by mod.
Knoxville, let’s put in the grade-school vernacular, which I’m sure the congressman will recall from his youth:
*************
Mod note: Yes, this must stop immediately.
it’s gonna have to be some impressive diary to top the one addressed to Dennis Kucinich.
Quoting Anthony Weiner:
I don’t see any way I can vote for a bill without a public option.
Go away, Anthony Weiner. You aren’t welcome here any more.
I am requesting that folks cease namecalling and stick to the issues – thanks.
I must have missed that one. At least Dennis is giving the money back instead of showing up here begging for more money.
Sorry, but I don’t think anyone here is buying your legislative ability today, nor likely any other day, either.
At this point I am thinking Dick Cheney might have gotten a better reception. I can just see the moderator furiously trying to keep up with they F Us. They should post this on the front page. That would be amusing.
Fine, egregious – as soon as Weiner ceases calling us imbeciles, which is exactly what he has done, just by posting this tripe.
I think Congressman Weiner needs to refund any and all money raised on FDL for breaking his pledge to vote no on a final bill without a Public Option.
Or simply vote No on this bill.
Except that little reproductive rights thingie. Oh well, maybe in another generation or two we’ll get them back.
Now, that sounds like a fair suggestion, but not very likely.
What this comment thread does?
Yeah. Keep doing that.
To the honorable Rep. Weiner: I’m sure your intentions are good, but the writing is on the wall, sir.
@ the mod
I’m sorry in this instance you are not doing us any favors.
Until Weiner knows EXACTLY what we think of him, profanity and all, they will never get the message that turning their backs on us is not acceptable.
I respectfully ask you to stop censoring the profanity.
Because Weiner really is a mealy mouthed little troll.
Actually, Rep. Weiner, you might have had more luck asking for money AFTER the vote, assuming you vote against this bill, that is.
I see I wasn’t alone. I just couldn’t resist adding this post to Twitter.
Actually, Rep. Weiner, you might have had more luck asking for money AFTER the vote, that is, if you will be voting against this bill.
I see I am not alone… I couldn’t resist adding this post to Twitter.
Sorry, Mods, I thought the nets ate up my comments, so I did it again. Please feel free to delete this one.
@Mod
I don’t understand the censoring of profanity. The contributors to this site curse on a regular basis, even outright telling political operatives to, “*******.”
The comments on almost any post have expletives in them, and they’re never “******” altered.
Great idea. And it reminds me that we could also take over the damn dem party like the anti-war workers did in the 60′s. Just infiltrate in every state and go to the convention in ’10 with a Dump Orahma ticket. We could call ourselves “The Fire dogs!” (thanks jane)
Using profanity has never prohibited at FDL but insulting a fellow commenter or diarist has always been discouraged.
The mods will continue to do what they do so well as long as folks persist with the insults.
To the Weiner intern or volunteer who took the canned fund-raising letter and blindly posted it on FDL: hopefully you’ll read a few of the responses you got and understand that Mr. Weiner and so many others are now persona non grata with a chunk of the Democratic Party voter base. Mr. Weiner is probably irredeemably damaged in the eyes of most people here. I suggest you take your fundraising spam posts elsewhere.
Thanks Congressman, I’m in for another donation.
You’re right Rep.Weiner, “Health care opponents don’t have any more excuses.”.
All we have are REASONS, NOT excuses.
It’s Obama and people like you who are providing the excuses for not doing what is necessary to have the U.S. be consistent with other industrialized nations who spend half as much on healthcare with the same benefits. And who don’t enshrine healthcare in a private for profit system.
Is HCAN paying for that donation so that you can claim to be making it here?
Ha, but no. That’s illegal, anyway.
I’m from NY, Weiner’s not my congressman but he’s a hometown guy, and I think he’s a progressive champion and should be re-elected.
I’m also from NY.
I think he’s a cheap sellout and I intend to support anyone who runs against him.
Congressman, this weekend is the vote for which you made a Pledge.
Will you violate that Pledge by voting for a health insurance bill without Public Option? How can we ever take a Pledge of yours at face value again?
And how will the Progressive House Caucus ever be taken seriously, as every single one of you who Pledged has now indicated you will break your Pledge? How do you expect to be taken as real negotiators, ever?
What’s your word worth, sir?
This is Pledge Weekend — show us what your word means, please.
I’m ashamed to say I once gave money to you.
Now, I don’t give to Dems. Period. I’m third party.
So Weiner comes here as a diarist rather than as a Congressman who’s received thousands of dollars from the FDL community based on his pledge, a Congressman who’s reneging on that pledge, and is coming back here asking for more money? Is that what we’re supposed to believe?
Weiner, rather than continuing to pretend you’re leader or a progressive and asking for more money from the people you stabbed in the back, give back every penny from everyone you’ve already taken money from and fucked over.
As open expression is now being moderated at FDL, I suppose it can’t hurt to provide my sentiment in censored form.
Anthony Weiner, [edited by mod].
Acceptable: swearing about a public figure
Not acceptable: saying **** *** to the author of a diary or fellow commenter. Cmon folks, these have been the guidelines since day one around here.
I’m delighted to see that the mod has an epithet “capture and release” program going here. These free-range epithets are gently captured, tagged, given lots of love and a free sandwich, and released into the wild.
It’s a beautiful thing…
I just got an email from Weiner just like his post. There were no mods to edit my response. He should at least have the decency to hide his head in shame, but, no, he thinks we’ll all fall in line, and donate. The last time Jason was on the other side of this issue, there were a lot more also backing him up yet it was still a Scott Brown result. Seems to have only got worse since then. I wonder how many jobs the lobbying firms have available?
The only explanation I can find for this edit work being done (in my comment @ 44, I even moderated myself and wrote “**** ***,” but it was removed) is that Jason is abusing the little power he has. Indeed, I think the edit work started more or less when Jason appeared and left his little [edited] in a comment @ 37.
Makes you wonder whether it’s time for Jane and others at FDL, who are rethinking a lot of thinks of late, should consider removing Jason.
Sorry, Jason, but you’re going too far.
Weiner’s not a diarist. He’s a Congressman using a blog to ask for money after he’s proven himself to be a weak, mealy-mouthed failure. See my comment @ 44.
Regardless of one’s opinion as to the content and timing of a particular piece of writing, the standards remain: no direct insults against writers or fellow commenters.
The mod staff works on your behalf so that everyone can get a fair hearing. If you feel this does not meet your blogging needs, by all means feel free to affiliate yourself with another of the thousands of places out there more compatible with what you are seeking.
really weiner, do you think that if you pretend this is a good bill, we will fall for it. go to moveon, dfa, kos and other gullible web sites, we are not trusting you just because you say we should. what a joke and the sad part is that people will actually give you money. As a progressive, I look at myself as someone with principles and it is obvious that no elected officials have any. And now the democratic party has the audacity to say help us elect more progressives, those are people on the left, the ones your president went on Fox news, of all places, and announced that he was giving us nothing and was proud of that. Saying it would disrupt the system to much. I am sure he meant his and your stocks in the health insurance cartel.
Seriously, have you ever seen anything so incredibly tone-deaf? Quite revealing. FDL is a liberal netroots site, so Weiner figures it’s an ATM machine.
Grayson is way smarter–he’s talking up his money bomb at Kos.
well Jason, you have made it clear you are a democrat no matter what. There is no accountability. Take us to war, mass murder innocents and lets not look back, lets just move forward. We do not want to hold anyone accountable. And as a democrat your elected officials can do anything, say anything and no matter what, you will support them as long as there is a D after their name. As least with the the republican thugs and corporatists in power, you may not be for holding them accountable either, but at least you would not send them money.
Weiner didn’t send his staffer here because he wants a fair hearing.
He sent his staffer here because he’s a sleazy politician who thinks he can renege on his pledges and get away with asking for more money from people on the eve of his stabbing them all in the back.
We are discussing a most important issue when we tell Weiner what we think of him and what he’s doing.
Wow. So Grayson has some sense of shame after all. I got his email announcing his moneybomb yesterday. At least he’s aware of how badly he’s betrayed Jane and everyone at Firedoglake and has just enough decency not to show his face around here.
Anthony can you read my lips? You Sir have chutpah coming in here and asking all of us for $$. Ask your pals in the Health mafia for it I had to give it all to them to pay for my crappy policy. Don’t come in here piss on my head and then try to tell me it’s raining Anthony. You don’t have a bunch of clueless noodle heads in here, we actually read the crap you idiots call HCR. Pathetic! Never every again after 45 yrs. of working, giving $$ and voting for Dems. will I do any of that again. Enough!!
@ Mods -
As angry as I am at Anthony Weiner, I’m relieved that you are keeping this comment thread clear of insults. Your work keeps the FDL pages an interesting place to come.
I don’t always agree with the diaries or the comments that I read here, but I’m thrilled to be able to read and write open opinion and honest emotion here without the threat of being called a derisive name for it.
Thank you, Mods.
And you know, I don’t see the mods reach in very often, so thank you everyone else!
Knoxville, you’re wrong.
As RBG said @35 and egregious said @45, insulting the poster has been a big no-no around here, long before Jason came to FDL.
I’m not a big fan of censorship, either, but I must confess that I’m a refugee from Greenwald’s threads where there used to be interesting discussions…before the trolls finally took hold. And also from Open Salon, where people like me are supposed to write about puppies and rainbows and such.
I have found something more in the middle here, not centrist, just in the middle.
If weiner and Jason are progressives, we need a new name for what we are. Because obviously people at this site are not for supporting corporatist that are privatizing our whole entire country. They have stolen our name.
Jason has not edited or modded a single comment in this thread. It’s all been done by the Mods doing what they do so well.
If you’d like to “blame” anyone, I have managed the Mod Squad for over four years, so address your comments to me.
It is actually one thing that keeps me coming here. I have abandoned a couple of other blogs (the Plumline for one) because every thread is commenters insulting each other. Their filtering software takes care of some of the profanity allowed here, but it apparently isn’t modded much, and the vitriol just gets tiresome. Greg Sargent is a peach, but I don’t read his blog any more.
I’m not sure why people are ganging up on Jason. Is it because he has a point of view not in line with some of the other FDL regular commenters? Do we not tolerate dissent, even though we rag on Orange for not tolerating dissent? Look in the mirror, friends…
*waves to RBG*
This is a massive betrayal. This bill is terrible, for reasons that have been clearly and effectively outlined. I’m in favor of real reform. This bill isn’t it. It’s profoundly ridden with flaws that undercut everything you say it promises.
http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/2010/03/19/fact-sheet-the-truth-about-the-health-care-bill/
is it okay to thank egregious as well for civil reminders of the need for civility?
speaking as a sometimes non-civilian, I say that anyone who would even attempt to fault egregious’ work here is a …….. very cross person indeed.
Thanks RGB. Just so folks are clear on the way this site works. I’m the Editor of The Seminal. I write on the front page, recruit folks to write on the front page, and get to promote diaries to the front page as my team and I see fit. I don’t moderate comments.
I would have thought it wiser to leave the impression that Jason is to “blame” out there. Why respond to it to defend anything?
Anyway, Weiner has totally undermined what everyone at Firedoglake has worked so hard to build and now you want to treat him like a diarist when he sends a staffer here to ask people for money on the eve of stabbing them in the back?
I suggest you cancel his membership at FDL and send him an email telling him that he’s not welcome here if he’s going to act like a shady politician who wants to use FDL in order to cheat people out of their money.
Do we need any more evidence that he’s a fraud?
Apology please?
Mr. Weiner, I’m an opponent of this health care bill, and I don’t need “excuses”. There are many good reasons to oppose this bill, not the least of which is that it will end up making things worse for most people who have insurance, and will not help those who don’t.
Merely making us buy insurance, when it will not be regulated even to the paltry standards this bill pretends to provide, is not going to help us. That insurance won’t be there when we need it, because the insurance companies are already good at gaming the system, and you’ve provided absolutely no resources to change that.
The excise tax, meanwhile, is back. It will serve to make employer-provided insurance less comprehensive as time goes on. As at least one study has noted, this will do nothing to help wages, either.
There’s another reason I don’t need an excuse – my representatives are supposed to represent me. Clearly, people like you will not. You have pledged to not vote for a bill that didn’t have a public option. You have gone back on that pledge, and thus you’ve lied both to your constituents, your supporters, and your colleagues. No one with any sense will believe you again.
Just dropping off a copy of an e-mail, which you’ve posted elsewhere, and expecting us to shovel cash into your worthless candidacy is audacious, to put it mildly.
Please come back when you have the courage to actually discuss things with us. Until then, you can assume that all those earlier comments with the strings of asterisks express my feelings, too.
If the mods are keeping this thread clear of insults I won’t insult, though I really, really want to.
Perhaps a modern interperative dance, instead.
For what? For believing that you were modifying comments of people you don’t agree with? I did believe you had done it when I wrote it. Because I trust RBG’s word, I’ll admit that what I wrote was factually incorrect. But I won’t apologize to you for believing what I did. Also, I do think that RBG could have left my error out there without responding to it. There’s no reason for RBG to defend you or to explain anything that’s been said or done on this thread.
For the record, I’m not defending anyone, just trying to clarify the facts.
I look forward to seeing the “Dance of the Middle Fingers”
Class act
Oh Great. In an understandable fit of indignancy people tell ol’ Weiner to **** ***. And get modded.
But this is OK.
Just a little consistency, please.
Fair enough.
Just to highlight what I wrote in my comment @ 66, I think Weiner is a fraud who is trying to abuse people and grab their money.
If you let a fraud like Weiner do what he’s doing with this diary, then an important tool that you at Firedoglake are trying to build will have been undermined.
If you know someone’s a fraud, do you let them use this website to cheat people?
Class (interesting choice of words?) is knowing when one has no need to apologize.
My strictly personal perspective is that there’s a Congressional intern who, right about now, wishes they were old enough to drink enough so they could forget the mistake they made.
Thank you macaquerman, that was very kind. I appreciate your work in steering FDL discussions in a constructive direction.
So Weiner went limp on us. They all do eventually.
Luckily, the Catholic Bishops don’t hate Viagra like they hate abortion so he has no excuse not to stiffen up and make things happen!
Just don’t do the emperor has no clothes dance. /s
Gawd I Love FDL.
Who gave the aide the list of sites to visit? Maybe that person should be buying…
yes, thank you. indeed, if everyone worked as assiduously as I for constructive purposes, we wouldn’t need nuclear weapons.
Where are the advertising dollars for FDL?
If he’s going to peddle his “leadership” for dollars, he should at least be paying to advertise at FDL.
So did you recruit this moneybomb, knowing what is going on here at FDL the last couple days?
That would require a sense of shame.
At least Dennis agreed to give back money already collected; but Grayson and Weiner, having reneged on their pledge and having gotten nothing to show for their lack of efforts, are using their epic failure to fundraise and call for moneybombs to collect money from the people they’re in the process of betraying because, you know, they’re the leaders the progressive movement needs…
Fucking shameless.
Someone like this guy will push beyond the limits of any decency unless FDL tells him it’s not ok to do it here.
If you say nothing to him, I bet we’ll see more diary posts like this one from his office.
you’re only going to see more diary posts from his office if his office sees more money from the diary posts.
If some people associated with FDL support him, you’ll see more of these.
If they’re putting these ads up at multiple sites, then I doubt they can track from which sites people who contribute have come.
I think they knew that they’d only get a couple of suckers like Jason (see his comment @ 37) by posting this call for money at FDL. But all it takes is a quick cut and paste, so they figured who cares about everyone at FDL who would know that posting this bullshit is not only insulting, but even detrimental to the efforts of Jane and the FDL team and to everything that they’re doing to try to make a real difference.
The Seminal is a diary site open to the larger FDL community. Something tells me the law of diminishing returns may affect what we see from Mr. Weiner in the future.
Not trying to defend this useless piece of sh*t (self censored) but Dems are all over every damn blogsite today asking for cash for their votes. Nothing like making people pay you to do the job people already pay you to do.
beyond disagreeing with you, what the hell has Jason done so that you can’t stop calling him names?
if it turns out that Jason is controlling a big block of congressional votes, then let’s bust him up. till then, ease up a notch.
let’s leave the obnoxiousness to me and the other macaques.
and I tend to think that the staffers have a fair idea of where the money comes from. if you’re worried, though, I’m pretty sure that someone onsite wouldn’t at all mind helping run up some kind of FDL-flavored form letter as an aid to advising Weiner where to place his diaries.
lol. Funny because I think it’s true
PS for the intern — Chutes and Ladders?
But if he’s not paying FDL to advertise here, then what does he have to lose by sending someone over to post diaries like this one? Nothing. He obviously doesn’t care about going on national tv to call himself a hcr leader so that he can take money from people while he’s stabbing them in the back, having already taken thousands of their dollars only to renege on his promises.
Weiner,
What leadership have you shown for all the money you’ve already taken from people who wanted to believe in you?
In what ways is the pos that the sellout Democrats are about to pass a better pos because of anything you did?
Answers:
Other than playing a leader on tv, not any real leadership at all.
It’s not a better pos in any way at all.
Dear Mr or Miss Intern in Congressman Weiner’s Office
I found a better metaphor for Mr Weiner’s further communications on this matter, and also any of his colleagues who support the HCR (High Corporate Returns) Bill. Please feel free to use and share anytime

Not sure there’s much of a point to continuing to argue about Jason at the moment, but I will say that comments he made to me in the past gave me good reason to think that he could edit other people’s comments here and that he would do so. Why should I apologize for thinking that he did it today and for saying so?
I already admitted in my comment @ 70 that I was wrong about his having done it today. Not enough?
Thank dog that advertising is not in my bailiwick at FDL
I’ve said what I needed to say in this thread and hope to not need to say more except that the Mods will continue to do what they do so well.
Now, that’s the kind of response worth e-mailing to the Weinerworld offices in lieu of cash. great vid idea.
I didn’t ask you to apologize, Knoxville, I suggested that you stop for a while.
You’re still at it in comment 89.
Thank you!
Before I go, I would like to say that Grayson announcing his moneybomb yesterday and Weiner trolling for dollars with this diary inspired me to make another contribution to Firedoglake today.
https://secure.firedoglake.com/page/contribute/donatetofdl
Because of what we’ve seen during the course of this debate, because of the falseness of our unprincipled former friends in Congress who turned out to be weaklings at best, I choose to do what I can to help Firedoglake as they work for better government and accountability.
https://secure.firedoglake.com/page/contribute/donatetofdl
Mr. Weiner… Helloooo, Mr. Weiner…
It’s sort of considered good etiquette, when one posts a diary, to respond to comments. Otherwise, people get a little peeved. Particularly when your diary consists of fundraising on the strength of doing the exact opposite of what you came around here before fundraising on the strength of, which is pledging not to do what you’re so proud of doing now.
Sorry, I got lost in that last sentence, but it still is a pretty accurate description of what you’re doing. The peeved folks commenting here want an explanation and some answers. If you will not engage in the dialogue, then I suggest you get lost and don’t come back.
I assume that you’re speaking to Mr. Weiner on behalf of the entire Foxtrot family, including Alpha Mike.
For the Reps in the farm states
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29ebiwO4O70
Once again, it’s time for you to step back from yet another diary.
And all of us are grateful for you continuing support.
Thanks.
How about we stop using “pledge” for now. It used to be that a man’s word was sacrosanct.
Anthony Weiner gave his word. Anthony Weiner will not keep his word. Anthony Weiner’s word is useless.
[Or, to put it in Japanese terms, Anthony Weiner has no honor.]
We’re sorry, but Jason is away in an alternate universe. He will get back to you when he returns.
holy crap!
I completely missed the “health care opponent” framing.
is this the ONLY effective framing they’ve done? people who are sick of being sold out to scum are called opponents!
NO ONE is against health care – you’re right!
this bill ain’t about health care, it is about rewarding the f***ing pigs who wrecked everything.
hey representative sell out – go get money from AIG, or, go to hell.
rmm.
Representative Weiner (or whichever staff toady actually posted this):
I thought that, at this point in my life, I had some measure of the shameless temerity a politician could exhibit. It’s one thing that you reneged on your pledge to vote against any “health care reform” package that didn’t include a public option…but to pop back in and ask for cash without so much as an explanation for your spineless reversal?
That takes balls bigger than the ones Indiana Jones runs from in the jungle.
Methinks you’d have better luck playing guitar on a street corner at the moment. Good luck with that.
(Blushing) I have NO idea what you are talking about Mz Paula.
Representative Weiner, to me HEALTH CARE REFORM was never about deficit reduction. And we were told by all of our Congresspersons that it wasn’t. Health Care reform was expected to be about providing quality, affordable healthcare to all Americans. It was supposed to be about stopping the abuses by the Insurance Companies against American citizens. Yes, it was about reinging in costs, but it was supposed to be costs to citizens for health care that was the issue. We are tired of paying thousands of dollars a year for health insurance, only to be denied care when it is needed. That is why we were promised a government run public n(like Medicare. We heard it again and again. From all of you. You all knew that Americans voted Democrats into office in order to get socialized medicine. We are not getting that and you know it. Do you really think we voted for Democrats so we could bail out Insurance Corporations?
We do not give a damn about cutting the deficit. If you want to cut the deficit, you should cut the deficit on the backs of the rich for once and give us poor and middle class people a break. We are tired of carrying the load. Congress only worries about the deficit when it comes to helping average Americans. That’s when told belt needs tightened. Corporations and Military and Banks get all the gravy they want.
We already know that “cutting the deficit” is doublespeak for cutting Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. That’s why Obama has his new “commission to screw the poor out of their reitrement” all primed.
I have a hunch you called it correctly here.
Thanks for moderating.
I understand being passionate and angry, as I’ve often been here myself.
I’m with egregious — no insulting commenters or post authors.
But the great thing about FDL traditionally has been people’s willingness to listen to one another, collaborate, and focus on strategies for positive outcomes.
Thx, RGB and mods.
Yep, let’s all line up to give ya some money like the liberal tools you took us for. I never voted for a President before this election and I don’t see myself ever supporting a Democrat ever again. So, Wiener can take his requests for mula and shove ‘em right where the sun don’t shine.
edit: oh and the bill is a worthless bailout, but I do honestly hope it will help *someone*–even though we slip further into the clutches of corporatania in the process…
I sometimes think ‘Morning Joe’ is one of the most subversively anti-Obama forces in American culture. But it’s always worth watching to see what Joe has up his sleeve.
And for all the angst and wrath here about Weiner, I don’t see anyone who’s given him kudos for unpacking Peggy Noonan’s deceptions and flawed thinking about health care.
Weiner gives a very astute, almost surgical, eviseration of Noonan’s intellectual frauds and political fetishes. It’s essential that ignorance like Noonan’s be politely, courteously, completely exposed as tangles of stupidity and arrogant ignorance.
Weiner goes in for surgery at about 3/4 way through the segment.
