When Steve Osburn (he heads Sedgwick County’s Public Defender Office and is Roeder’s attorney-of-record at the moment) filed for a bond hearing, Judge Warren Wilbert decided to settle the matter immediately. So, no hearing today, it was done on no notice yesterday afternoon. So much for public business being conducted in public, eh?
Roeder’s bond is set at $5,000,000. Deputy DA Kim Parker asked for a $10,000,000 bond. Terms of the bond aren’t reported by the Eagle-Beacon, but a TV reporter at KWCH questions whether any bond agent in Wichita could handle a bond that size. At $5 million, it looks like Tiller’s assassin will be a guest of Sedgwick County for the foreseeable future.
Osburn is supposed to be unhappy with the amount of the bond, but his argument for lowering the bond amount wasn’t reported. I’ll update if I can find reportage on Osburn’s complaint.

Thanks for the legwork, BC.
Hey BC, just saw this over at C&L and thought you would be interested.

Former AG sends out a fundraising mailer to cover his legal costs and cites Dr. Tiller in it. wow, just wow
Phil Kline is a real piece of work. There isn’t much he could do that would surprise me.
He’s the same guy who subpoenaed medical records from Kansas abortion providers to show that they were operating outside the law. What’s really disgusting is that he was able to find a judge to go along with him. His probable cause was something on the order of, “They provide abortions, therefore they must be doing something illegal.” Kind of the medical equivalent of driving while black, I guess.
As I said, Kline is a real piece of work.
Good job, BC. Thanks, and as we said in a former life, BZ!
Seconded.
