If you’ve grown weary of all the depressing news with which we’re surrounded these days, this morning’s New York Times offers an antidote worthy of your attention. Have a look at: Hard Times, a Helping Hand for a heartwarming story of holiday season charity in Canton, Ohio during the Great Depression. The story has an interesting twist too. I think it would make a fabulous movie in the right hands.

Wonderful story, Bilbo. Thank you.
As folks who live rather close to Canton and have some ties there, I think we qualify to attest to the special strain of generosity which seems to be alive and well in Canton OH to this day.
Special folks who seem to have a-plenty are very active in providing opportunities for the much acclaimed, local Canton Symphony Orchestra to provide special concerts and educational opportunities that many school children would otherwise probably miss. The children, AND the professional musicians, the board members, and the symphony’s educational staff all obviously thrill in their various roles meshing to provide the introduction to age-appropriate classical music in the local public schools. I have attended quite a few of these events and am cheered by the special bond shared on all sides.
