When Anna Nicole Smith died CNN lost perspective, when Governor Sanford walked into deep doodoo, CNN lost perspective. Now CNN can’t find anything else going on in the world to report other than Michael Jackson’s passing.
No sense of perspective whatsoever. Little wonder Faux News gets more viewers.

Add MSNBC to that list. I quit watching TV at all last night because it was All-MJ, all the time.
I’m sorry the guy died. He was a talented singer and dancer. But despite the hyperbolic comparisons, he was no Mozart. Well, his genius for self-promotion might have been Mozartean, even Beethovenian.
This is the story of Elvis Presley, John Belushi, Anna Nicole Smith and half a hundred other celebrities rewritten. He was surrounded by sycophants and other parasites who told him his stuff didn’t stink, and he’s a poor misunderstood soul. I fully expect the tox screen to come back and show that he was loaded with all sorts of nasty stuff ripe for interactions.
However, the bottom line is that the guy died. And the sun came up in the east this morning. Important things continue to happen in the world. John Donne is right, each man’s death diminishes me, but frankly I’m less diminished by Michael Jackson’s death than by the murder of my uncle five years ago. It’s time to move on, CNN.
