Today, CNN is reporting that Obama said, Iran is breaking the rules that all nations must follow. Yet, Obama has discouraged prosecution of Bush/Cheney for the most egregious violations of law and human decency, mass murder and torture. Obama continues to hold people without due process of law and according to public sources is pursuing the power for endless preventive detention. This makes him a monstrous hypocrite. Perhaps, even, just a farging monster?

Hi blue crow, preventive detention is un-american and, hopefully, will eventually be found unconstitutional. What’s “farging”? -:)
farging (adj.) — (1) one who fargs; (2) to be in the state or condition of farg; (3) the opposite of non-farging; (4) capable of playing 11-dimensional chess
art45, thanks for the clarification.
Definition of ‘farging’
Here’s another example:
At this point, I don’t know if Obama has just decided he can lie and get away with the lies or he is intentionally decieving people because he doesn’t think they hear anyone but him or he actually believes his words(and thereby displays his ignorance of all the pieces of the puzzle).
“We reached an historic agreement to reform the global financial system—to promote responsibility and prevent abuse so that we never face a crisis like this again.”
Absolute bullshit and here is why: “JUAN GONZALEZ: Lori, I’d like to ask you about the role of Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner. Here in the United States, he’s supposed—he’s leading the efforts now to increase regulation over the financial sector. But he played a previous role under the Clinton administration in what was happening at the WTO in terms of financial deregulation. Could you talk about that?
LORI WALLACH: Yeah. This is actually a serious problem. So, most people don’t even realize that the World Trade Organization has an agreement called the Financial Services Agreement that explicitly applies to over a hundred countries AND MANDATES major deregulation. Just for instance, it has a rule that you cannot have a domestic law, even if it applies equally to foreign and domestic companies, that limits the size of a financial service firm—insurance, banking, securities. So when everyone talks about putting into place rules about “too big to fail,” there’s a WTO dictate that says you can’t do that. A lot of other really extreme deregulation rules. That agreement was never brought to a vote in Congress, so a lot of members of Congress have no idea it’s there.
MORE: “LORI WALLACH: There’s an incredible contradiction, where the summit communiqué is going to, on one hand, talk about regulating finance, and at the same time, they’re going to talk about adopting the Doha WTO expansion, and a huge part of that agreement is deregulating finance.
And the problem is that the G-20 commitments aren’t binding. It’s a commitment of faith on the countries about what they’re going to do domestically. But the WTO rules are very binding and enforceable by sanctions. And so, it’s hard to know if it’s ignorance or it’s cynicism, but if the Doha round goes into place, all of the world’s countries will have a commitment not only to keep in place the existing WTO deregulation dictates on finance, but to deregulate further, right in the midst of what seems to be a global commitment to re-regulate.”
So when Obama states “”We reached an historic agreement to reform the global financial system—to promote responsibility and prevent abuse so that we never face a crisis like this again.”, one has to wonder -especially given the past statements his actions have repudiated- WTF about Obama (or you’re like me and realized he was not what he was portraying himself as with the motto ‘change we can believe in’ and therefore didn’t vote for him, choosing a third party candidate that better exemplified my perspectives.)
Tough to hold someone’s ‘feet to the fire’ when they keep dancing all around you.
ubetchaiam, very nice comment, thanks.
I can solve that for them.
Make it so that all financial firms beyond traditional lending banks, credit unions, and savings & loans are unable to receive federal funds, guarantees, or insurance, in fact they are unable to be given federal funding or support in any way whatsoever. Then make it that no traditional lending bank, etc can receive those funds if they are owned by or own any corporate investment structure. Deregulate the rest of them beyond rules governing that all customers etc must be informed that there is no federal insurance or guarantee or support of this enterprise. Those traditional lending organizations can have FDIC support and insurance, they can borrow from the Fed. Others cannot. We won’t regulate how large they can get, only who can be supported by the public monies including access to cheap loans.
IOW, They are so right, and so successful, they don’t need government rules. So be it. They don’t need government money either. Let them stand on their own, and let them drown in their own hubris.
I heard this interview and was struck with this section as well. It’s a scam. We regulate the banks and the WTO say, “No you can’t.” Win Win.
Ah! We are relying on the big shots in the whole world to do the right things. We must be blind, because they have been in control while all of the worlds problems happened. When our Country decided it was part of the world community, we lost the toss. The world has been using us for decades, and we seem proud to be used. Only now are we seeing that the world is doing much better while we are declining. We gave our food, money, jobs, treasure and even our people lives to the world, and they want to work with us now, Ha. America’s interests should be in America, because we have seen what putting the worlds interests first has gotten us.
So you think that the US of A has been on one big long humanitarian mission and that’s what’s gotten us in to this predicament? Maybe Israel has been using us, but the people benefitting from what Americans are losing are the bankers, multinational business, Oil companies, Insurance companies, Military Hardware companies. The people that benefit are not nationalists, they are part of a caste. They have the money. The people they hurt are lower caste, it matters not what country they come from.
OMG. Starting at zero, and educate yourself.
I’ll bet You voted for all the idiots in Washington, and support the parties, politics, and are a patriot. It’s easy to complain, but what have you done to change anything. Blaming Israel for taking every dollar our politicians give, seems foolish. You can’t take something that isn’t given, unless you steal it. I have not seen the Isrealies over here with masks and guns. Their not the problem, your Government is.
Your Congress, and the politicians you think of as your representatives, have caused all the problems you mentioned. They caused the housing and banking crisises, and have not fixed one problem. They take the money from the SS fund, while conplaining it’s going broke. It’s been a year and they have not even reinstated the regulations on the banks they voted away. They fund the Military’s every want, and buy all the stuff. They have supported the oil industry, knowing it could be the death of the Nation. They give money to everybody humanitarian or not, all except the American people. They haven’t stopped forclosiers, helped people forced to bankriuptcy, put people back to work. They have had no feelings for people who lost their life savings, and don’t seem tocare about the people dying with the healthcare problems.
If Your going to complain, complain about the right things.
On Obama, we sent Him to Washington, and into the den of the beast. He is at the mercy of Washington, because He listens to the beasts, has to work with the beasts, and doesn’t dare make them mad, or He will get nothing done. We made the beast, and are not willing to slay it, so blame the inablers of the beast the voters.
I dont buy that. If he had meant to, he could have surrounded himself with capable, ehtical advisors. he chose not to. one asshole at a time. and the handful of worthies he gave token positions to, he has been willing to give up to the right.
Don’t buy it, You already did when You voted, if You did. You bought it by thinking those people are Your representatives. We forgot what representative means, and have let them be our deciders. They didn’t represent us with the wars, bailouts, or the debt. They aren’t representing us with healthcare, becuase they won’t give us what we want.
Our fathers and us let them convince us that we sent them there to make all our decisions for us, that is not what represent means. Represent means doing what we would like them to do, not what they think is best for us.
Some of what Obama has “got done” we’d be better off without. Continuing the black sites springs to mind. Taken single-payer Medicare for All off the table. Pretty long list, actually.
Bitch about Obama if You must, but You could have Bush back. Do you think for one minute with Bush and the Repubs, you would be even talking about healthcare. We might have already bombed Iran. The debt and deficits would probably be worse. Bush would have added black sites. You would still be buying the F22’s. There would be thousands of more troops in Afghanistan, and a million or so going to Iran. Be careful what You wish for, bitch about, and want because all of it can be worse than You think.
Thank you, solerso. You got it exactly right
unbelievable betrayal of those of us that put him in office.FDR took down the bankers right away, and fought for the people. Shame on you sir.
Shekissesfrogs nailed it.Succinctly put,the national interests of the American citizenry are in direct conflict with the international investment class’ interests to which our so-called leaders are beholden.
Follow the money.
Obama is lying about Iran; they have done nothing “secret” or illegal. This just sounds like Bush’s get your war on stuff all over again.
TAXATION WITH MISREPRESENTATION!
TRUE WORDS SPOKEN!!!!!!!
