"Justice Department Drops Charges in AIPAC Case"
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Federal prosecutors moved Friday to dismiss espionage-related charges against two former pro-Israel lobbyists accused of disclosing classified defense information, ending a tortuous inside-the-Beltway legal battle rife with national security intrigue.
Critics of the prosecution of Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee had accused the federal government of trying to criminalize the sort of back-channel discussions between government officials, lobbyists and reporters that are commonplace in the nation’s capital. AIPAC is an influential pro-Israel lobbying group.

Charges dropped before the MSM even reported in any kind of substantive way about this investigation and trial. The timing is amazing the Aipac national conference is this weekend. What timing

Steve Rosen takes out Charles Freeman, succeeds at shutting down this trial, the announcement comes out at the beginning of the Aipac conference. All before the MSM has even reported in any substantive way over the last four years. Can you imagine the applause and glee at the Aipac conference today!
The I lobby will be pounding the pavement hard on Monday. Proving once again that the United States of Israel is alive and in control
This creeps me out, especially given the timing. OTOH, prosecuting leak recipients under the Espionage Act can legitmately be considered a slippery slope. Patrick Fitzgerald steered clear of Espionage Act charges in the Plame affair because of its overbroad reach. Not all arguments against this case were devoid of merit.
The case might have had more traction if AIPAC were, as it properly should be, redesignated as a foreign lobby. I would gladly sign a petition and write letters in support of that. But that’s an even steeper uphill climb than single payer.
The MSM will be all over this now that it is over. Diane Rehm who has not touched this story and the rest will report more about this in the next week than we have heard in four years.
What power, What influence. Larry Franklin takes the hit, the media barely reports about the investigation and 9 time delayed trial, Rosen takes out Charles Freeman, the MSM starts reporting when it was announced that the trial would be dismissed, Jane Harmans connection in this spy case is swept under the rug, the trial is dismissed just days before the beginning of the Aipac conference.

“if AIPAC were, as it properly should be, redesignated as a foreign lobby” ; AND those Senators and Representatives such as Lieberman and Hoyer got registered as the foreign agents that they are.
Hopefully folks will show up outside of Aipac’s conference with signs “Require Aipac register on the Foreign Agents Registration Act” or as Mearsheimer said to me when he was a guest panelist here at Ohio Universities Baker Peace Conference when I asked him if he thought the U.S. would ever pressure Israel to sign the IAEA’s Non Proliferation Treaty. Mearsheimers response “they own us”
