Here is the full quote from Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-MA) as it appears in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s latest "House panel wants new review of BPA safety
Congressmen ask FDA to assess closeness to chemical industry"
"Instead of spending money to manipulate the legislative process through fear tactics or slick PR campaigns, I suggest these companies ramp up their research and development, ensuring that only safe alternatives to this dangerous substance are used in food and beverage containers,"
As FDL’ers understand, a lot of others need to hear Representative Markey’s statement applied to their industry. Then that needs to be supported by aggressive enforcement of criminal prosecutions for those who so willingly profit at the expense of public health.

Thanks for highlighting Markey’s statement. It certainly is the right thing to do.

Unfortunately, executive management in US companies lacks any understanding of research, engineering, or product development. So they won’t spend money on it. They understand marketing (a.k.a. lying)–along with stealing, executive retreats, and big jets.
