Tell Obama no more blank checks Video
I believe this national ad is running today in Wisconsin, because today is the primary for state Senate recall elections. I could be wrong about that. It might just be part of a larger national, “GrandMa can eat more catfood,” campaign.
I think it’s important to understand what the other side is saying.
This post is in no way a defense of the President and the Dems. If they had enacted legislation in his first two-years, that he campaigned on, the Dems never would have lost the House and we wouldn’t be looking at a government shut down. Below is a very high level summary of legislation that could have been passed his first two-years in office.
1. He and the Dems should have pulled all combat troops out of the Middle East.
1.1 Americans who tortured should have been prosecuted.
1.2 Americans who spied on other Americans should have been prosecuted.
1.3. Not one penny of Pentagon disbursements should be spent on foreign workers.
2. He and the Dems should have included the public option in with Obama Care.
3. He and the Dems should have aggressively raised the top marginal tax rates from their historic lows. “Trickle down,” doesn’t work.
3.1 His DOJ should have prosecuted Wall Street for collapsing the economy in 2008.
3.2 The $600 trillion dollars of risk in derivatives should not continue to be socialized onto taxpayers.
3.3 Anti-trust legislation should have been used aggressively against unregulated monopolies and oligopolies.
3.4 To halt the suffocation of meritocracy in the U.S., the Patent Office should have been fully funded.
4. Government should stay out of telling adults who can choose to marry.
5. Sustainable jobs for AMERICANS should have been a prime investment.
5.1 Investments in sustainable, diversified, and de-centralized electricity generation should have been a funding priority.
6. While there are many excellent reasons to legalize marijuana, the most far-reaching may have been immigration. Pot sales account for about 60% of the drug cartel’s revenue and they use that to de-stabilize governments south of our border.
“There’s class warfare, all right,” Mr. Buffett said, “but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”

Blank checks are really non-existent anywhere these days. They are gone in Europe as well, not just the US.
Don’t forget BP Gulf Oil spill. Has anyone been prosecuted for that? Hmmmm….
What criminality was actually involved?
Somewhat covered in #5, but get the US out of its horrible free trade agreements and stop pushing such nonsense.
sluke, maybe you haven’t heard, murder is “actually,” a criminal offense.
Many thanks to the wonderful mod who added the Simpson’s cat food graphic.
It’s a great post and the content and graphics are wonderful.
However, I have a problem with the links. If you select the link “Tell Obama No more Blank Checks” you will learn that the source of that video is the American Crossroads which is a 527 organization that has raised and spent tens of millions of dollars to defend and elect Republican candidates to federal office, and was very active in the 2010 U.S. midterm elections.
Its president is Steven J. Law, a former United States Deputy Secretary of Labor for President George W. Bush and the Chairman of the Board of Directors is former Republican National Committee chairman Mike Duncan. Advisers to the group include Senior Advisor and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and former Counselor to the President and Republican National Committee chairman Ed Gillespie.
Karl Rove is often referred to as the brainchild of American Crossroads. He is on my top ten list of the biggest political asses alive today.
Good list.
I’d add one more topic – at the top. Habeas corpus.
Not taking upon himself the right to kill any American anywhere. And using the President’s bully pulpit to get the Patriot (sic) Act repealed.
And perhaps you should be aware that no one was actually murdered.
Congress is not going to repeal the Patriot Act.
The ad is an example of how the Repubs will attack both Obama and the Democrats from the left, and Obama has made to very easy for them to do so by putting SocSec and Medicare in play. For us, a bad situation. For Obama, it’s just advancing what he actually wants to do. For Dems up for election? They are now facing a hurricane force headwind in their attempts to win votes.
Paul Ryan’s attack on Medicare made ads for Dems so simple: Repubs will cut/destroy Medicare; Dems will never attack it and will save it.
But Obama has gone and launched his very own personal attack on both SocSec AND Medicare, and the Dems will be tainted by their party’s titular leader doing so.
Now, Dem ads get very complicated. They have to lie about Obama in order to say Dems will protect SocSec.
And Repubs have no problems speaking out of both sides of their mouths and outright lying. They seem to relish that, and their voters forgive them for it since they’re in it to win it.
Dem voters are uncomfortable with lies, misleading presentations, and even sins of omission.
But this ad is what they will be up against, along with whatever shit Obama continues to throw at them and at us.
If it were actually true that dem voters were uncomfortable with lies, misleading presentations and sins of omission, there would be an enormous outcry against Eric Holder these days (not to mention one against Obama). Since there isn’t, your claim rings rather hollow. But I will agree that dem voters SHOULD be uncomfortable with all of those things.
Yesterday on C-Span’s Washing Journal I watched Adam Green (PCCC) declare himself and his ilk “bold progressives(.com)”. First of all in my book a Progressive is just a Liberal who has been bitch-slapped into hiding behind another label. Bold my left…! This wimp sat there and threaten Obama with a wet noddle. When asked if he and his people would hold Obama accountable if he sold us out on social security and medicare (like he did on health care) Green basically said that we at the PCCC will still vote for Obama and the Democrats, but if they screw us yet again we will not work for them as hard . This is why we on the left are treated like punks; intellectually weak minded cowards like Green who are too afraid of FOX to call himself a liberal (progressive my left…) display themselves as the face of the left.
Anyway, great post brother BooRadley; recommended.
Some obscure “New Black Panther Party” reference? If so, telling…
New black pather party? Are you actually unaware of Fast and Furious? Could ANYONE be unaware of it?
Why run a blank check add in Wisconsin Now Boo? Whats the logic of reminding Union voters that their Social Security and Medicare checks are going to be cut?
Sure the idea is blank check for Obama to do more social spending but outside the imagination of some tea baggers what social spending?
Anyway mention the word check to anyone and politics these days and its cuts to SS and Medicare checks they will think about.
Even, Especially the older white male Tea Baggers.
Also its a Dem Primary in Wisconsin but remember the crowds in Wisconsin everyday in the Freaking Winter?
GOP rally the hate and voter disinformation works best when our side is not energized and paying attention to the issues like who is a fake Dem, real Dems fake Dems our all thats running today its a Dem Primary.
Computer Voter fraud might save a fake Dem but thats unlikely after the GOP *cough* found those votes in the Wisconsin Supreme Court case.
The Justice Dept would be hard put to ignore vote fraud a second time and the GOP knows this.
Anyway I don’t see the logic in an ad buy that reminds our voters their checks if the Government shuts down will be the ones that are blank.
Depending on how big this ad buy is it might increase our turnout.
This ad shows the GOP high commands thinking and their thinking is that they really really believe their own lies.
I guess none of them have friends or relatives who worry about government checks coming in on time to pay bills.
Did the GOP learn nothing from Newt when he did this?
Not seeing a New Black Panther reference either but whats wrong with the New Black Panthers?
