I’ve been hollaring for awhile for this kind of data on radiation counts. Before you panic, look at the scales. Yeah, it’s a LARGE jump but the counts are still small. No need to run to the basement yet.
I’ve no idea of the quality of the data, no warranty express or implied.
The recent earthquake caused a jump reactor #1 temp. This implies to me that the melt is in an unstable, possibly semi liquid state. The earthquake shook it, the heavy stuff floated to the bottom and concentrated a bit and we had some isolated recriticality. I also think this means it’s a LOT hotter than the temp guages would indicate, at least deeper into the melt.
Thought experiment: If 3000 workers/day are needed at Fukushima and the average worker will get a lifetimes allowable exposure in a year at most, how long until they run out of workers?
And this is interesting as well. A bit protective of our nuclear operators, Mr President?

As we know, time is relative. Not so long compared to the creation of the Grand Canyon-wait, maybe not. As the GPS tells us, “Recalc in Progress”. Too long, by any measure. Aren’t we really exploring the Rumsfeldian “Known unknowns”?
Oh, yeah, thanks for touching upon this. I submit that if this situation fails to make you a bit uneasy, you are either very courageous or totally oblivious.
Oh, there’s PLENTY more bad news out there.
Cesium, anyone?
I’m very much afraid that one or more of the melts is into the ground. Probably #1, the radiation there is so much higher you almost have to assume that containment is breached.

How far above sea level is Fukushima? 13-14 meters is my recollecton. Aren’t they predicting that level of rise by about 3000? Maybe the whole thing becomes global once the sea level rise overwhelms the clan up.
The marine borne debris is already here in the Isles, and nobody’s reporting on any of the readings whatsoever…! 8-(
Oh, don’t worry. There will be a big enough earthquake to drop the #3 spf before then.

And screw up the tourist trade?
The government and the corporations have a million reasons to lie and not one judge to force them to tell the truth.
