Rachel Maddow said it best: Torture is IMMORAL and against the standards by which we are judged by other nations. There is no justification for torture and if you destroy the laws of our nation to make torture techniques sound legal, that does not change the fact that it is still IMMORAL.
When you read the Army’s review of the “Torture Techniques” those active duty military who were trained under the UCMJ knew that these were illegal and many agencies refused to participate in activities specifically outlawed by the UCMJ.
By allowing those who authorized these techniques to go unpunished is saying that individuals can change the moral imperative of our nation and there will be no negative consequences.
If this is the choice that is made by our government, then we become no better than any other country that use torture techniques.
I gladly support those who have the moral fortitude to fight for the moral redemption of our country. Those who think this “nasty little episode” will fade away into a non-problem…are wrong!
Absolutely correct.
Obama will make big, unforgivable mistake not to go after these criminals.
no argument from me on that.
Thanks, Brendan. That video is very powerful. A number of us are also working to make June 26 a day of protest against torture, as well. I hope to have more on that later.
