President Obama tweeted this out today:
Now taking nominations for the Citizen’s Medal—one of the highest civilian honors in our nation. Nominate an everyday hero:
And so I nominated Hamsher.
Yeah, I know. But why not join me anyway? There might be some cool swag, or bling. Maybe a coffee mug. Let’s give it a shot.

HeHe :-) Agreed. I think Jane is deserving. She’s one of my everyday heroes. So, I’m following the link. Thank you.
-laughs- “nominee’s service must have been performed outside of their regular job”
This could hardly be a regular job… that’s where you have to submit yourself as a slave to the system… So, we’re okay. :-)
BTW here are the criteria per the gov’t website
U.S. citizens who have performed exemplary deeds of service outside of their regular jobs.Who have a demonstrated commitment to service in their own community or in communities farther from home.Who have helped their country or their fellow citizens through one or more extraordinary acts.Whose service relates to a long-term or persistent problem.Whose service has had a sustained impact on others’ lives and provided inspiration for others to serve.
Done! …and with a great deal of pleasure.
A quality idea.
It would be a short life — I’d probably die laughing.
She has my vote, and I’m ready to moon all dissenters; that’ll fix ‘em.
My liege, my liege…
