Happened to get a burr in my saddle yesterday that I have not been able to shake.
This wont take long, so bear with me.
Diane Feinstein is the Chair of the Inaugural Committee responsible for Warren’s invitation. She also happens to be eyeing a run for Governor in 2010.
Nancy Pelosi was elevated to Speaker not simply through Seniority but in part for her mad fundraising prowess.
Warren was invited by Feinstein in hopes of getting her hands on some of dat Fundie cash, and possibly some "righteous GOTV boots" on the ground for 2010 – and her good friend Madame Speaker heartily concurred.
I believe they saw Obama’s earlier overtures to Warren as the keys to Fort Knox, a big phat entree’, and they made their move.
Like so many here, I have chewed and chewed on this – and everytime I read some angle that made sense, I knew they could have accomplished the same move with another, equally Conservative Invitee but not an outright hatemonger. Go ahead, try it.
Nope. Senator Centrist and Speaker Fundraiser think they have finally found El Dorado.
To tidy things up a bit, Obama (who is indeed, ultimately responsible) didn’t have any real problems with it as it plays in to the Team of Rivals/All Inclusive gambit of his. Not to forget all that born again cheddar it may bring.
Like a Don handing a couple of Capos their own numbers racket turf to placate them, Feninstein and Pelosi will purr like kittens in the coming Congress. And hey, he can always send Hildebrand out to shush us if the heat gets a little intense doncha know.
Ok, come get me

firedogs,
having a middle school moment here . . . looks a little too tidy and I don’t do tidy when trying to grok this stuff.
again I would ask everyone to consider all the explanations out there – and there’s some incredibly reasonable ones – (((dmac,))) I’m looking at you:) – but each and every one of those moves could have been accomplished with another Conservative. And even if said Conservative had the cash, eg Schuller/Crystal Cathedral, they don’t have Warren’s urge to wield influence and power
no, had to be warren.
: )
it couldn’t have been accomplished in the same way, that’s why he’s the one that needed nipped in the bud. all of the other ones are getting ready to retire, don’t have the same type of name recognition or power base (money). and more importantly, network.
don’t you remember around the forum he was on every single channel for two weeks and longer on some?
even on bill moyers.
you think obama didn’t notice the slant of the treatment he was given and what it could mean?
nuh uh.
there’s more to this.
it will be interesting.
bbl. running late.
now there my darlin’, we agree. I commented at the time of the Forum that this was a ridiculously phat opportunity for Warren to get even more National exposure and to shove Dobson, Robertson, et al to the margins – all your fiefdoms are belonging to me.
we also agree that ‘why’ of it will be made plain on 1/20/8 – I’m pulling for your idea
yayuh, we’re always lookin’ at the same horse, just from a different angle, cbl. heh.
: )
never underestimate an 87 year old man who’s been around the block. like i said earlier, he’s cast out a few demons, he knows what they are about.
: )
My wingnut sister is not a fundie but has nothing but contempt for folks like Pelosi and DiFi (one of the few opinions we share, albeit for different reasons). If picking Warren really is an effort by key Dems to garner support from talibangelicals, their gambit will be no more successful than Mark Halperin has been in courting Drudge and his ilk.
My Dearest CBL,
Just when it feels impossible to become more cynical, here you are to show me lagging behind.
Thanks for the diary.
