Vagabond Scholar provides us with a compendium on torture.
Wow. Go over there and peruse what Batocchio has done. Really, just scroll through. Link after link, resource after resource right there on the page.
Can’t remember whether X was in the Taguba report ? bingo!, how does Emptywheel’s timeline match up with Y ? it’s there ! What was that Scott Horton quote you wanted to share with your fundie brother-in-law ? bam !
And it’s not just numbers, dates, and vitally important facts either – dear god, I hadn’t seen Minstrel Boy’s searing case for prosecution ("the cost of doing nothing" link), had you ? much, much more to help keep us all informed and on track.
As there are so many significant aspects to the story, it is difficult to keep up let alone keep a running narrative in your head. Batocchio has taken so much of the excellent reporting and commentary on this vital issue and beautifully woven them together (of course Emptywheel is prominently featured !)
I’ll let Digby have the last word:
Read it and bookmark it if you are closely following this story, and especially if you are writing about it. It is as close to an comprehensive resource on the current state of the debate, both political and historical, that I’ve seen. It’s excellent work.
Note: you have to scroll down upon clicking on the link –
Go. Bookmark. Read.

have been jumping up and down ever since I stumbled across it – just wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see it.
out for the day. bbl. mad progressive love to all
p.s. don’t know what’s up with the link – just remember to scroll down when you get there :D
Thanks, cbl2. I’ll have to read this later, having just read the Draper article in GQ. Link works fine. Bookmarked and recommended.
Highly recommended. Thanks for sharing this.
This point: “They will discuss Jack Bauer and hypothetical ticking time bombs endlessly, but not Maher Arar or Binyam Mohamed (among many others)” is one I think gets short shrift.
Those who want to defend interrogation of KSM don’t want to talk about (and so, are never asked about) his children. Those who want to defend GITMO don’t want to discuss Kurnaz or the Chinese Uighurs or Errachidi or 11 yos or old men on walkers shipped there and they certainly don’t want to talk about the CIA issuing a report in 2002 that many of those held at GITMO were innocent. The ticking time bomb crew don’t want to discuss al-Libi and especially not why he disappeared.
And what they don’t want to discuss, the MSM just ignores. We step into a losing hand when we don’t make the dealer reshuffle.
Thanks for this link and all the resources it collects.
Here Here, cbl
.
and I got such a kick out of Vagabond Scholar’s Torture Flow Chart
The MSM needs to be told that they do not want to cover or discuss the main issues because they are part of it. Perhaps explaining that it would be a conflict of interest since they cheerleaded, repeated lies unquestioningly, gave enormous air time to torturers, and made bucks off of it all. They are in the $#!% up to their eyebrows and want it to go away so they do not have to face what they did. They more often than not were gleeful participants pushing the fake intelligence with no opposing voices. They need to be clearly told they have no credibility.
thanx for the link cbl2!
Great link. Thank you.
oh boy. creepy but relavant torture chart.
Thank you for this link — the site should be spotlighted to every single person who purports to be a journalist or columnist or pundit in the inbred Village. Spotlighted to them on a daily basis.
Having gone over and started reading Batocchio, I specifically recommend this be spotlighted to Chris Matthews and Donny Deutsch.
thanks Prairie, didn’t think about Spotlight.
I have avoided using Twitter ( I have trouble keeping up w/ Facebook -lol)but am thinking of tweeting the link.. . just to see what happens.
