Singer Songwriter Kenny Rankin passed away on Sunday from lung cancer complications.
Kenny was living proof that talent does not always equal fame. He was incredibly talented both as a vocalist and a guitarist – but vastly under appreciated outside of the community of musicians and loyal fans.
I was fortunate enough to see him perform a dozen times – usually just him and his guitar. Funny, at a time in my misspent youth when I was all about the Sex Pistols and the Fab Mab – couldn’t resist the opportunity to hear that voice in person.
Well deserved tributes are being posted on line – and from all accounts he was not just a great musician, but all round good guy. Incongruously, he looked like some drop dead gorgeous lumberjack bounding on to the stage . . . thrilling us all with those angelic pipes.
Rest In Peace Kenny, and thank you for decades of enjoyment

from many of the tribute threads it looks like folks are surprised to learn they weren’t his only fans – suspect he had plenty among the firedogs.
