Little Rock Some things seem really straightforward when you finally stumble onto them, and you say, "Hey, why didn’t I think of that!" Going through my quick "orientation" with the Firedoglake people before the Book Salon about Citizen Wealth for Sunday afternoon was that kind of experience.
It turns out in this big, wild and zany website with good values and about 1 million individual visitors a month, that the Book Salon is really an old fashion chat room. I was ready to hear about bells and whistles and video screens and audio streaming, but the whole thing, as they explained it to me, was as simple as someone types a question and then you time the reply, hit "submit" and away you go. Luckily, for me the 2 hours are also moderated by Tula Connell, the managing editor for the AFL-CIO, whom I remember from SEIU back in the day.
This actually sounds easy and even fun.
I asked Beverly Wright, my "handler" on Friday how to handle the "whack" comments that seem to inundate the pages of the daily papers and other outlets. Her reply was quick and steady: "This is the lake, adults only here." She’s the sheriff, so there’s obviously peace in the valley.
It will be my first time, but not my last. Looking forward to the book salon on Firedoglake at 4:00 PM CST on Sunday (http://firedoglake.com/), but already a big fan of how they have used simple technology to make something huge work in a great way.

It’s always interesting, informative and quite often funny. Enjoy and welcome.
Great to have you!
Yes, the Book Salons are terrific.
If you haven’t had time to read previous Book Salon intros/posts, it would be very well worth your time.
