Our make-believe American media has proven itself utterly lacking when it comes to calling a lie a lie and exposing unhinged extremists. The "balance trap" compels them to solemnly pretend that elected officials who rave about death panels, socialism and global warming hoaxes must be treated with the same respect as reasonable people.
I guess German reporters haven’t fallen into the balance trap. When Sen. James Inhofe showed up in Copenhagen to spread the truth about the global warming hoax only he can see, a reporter for Der Spigel rightly told Inhofe "you’re ridiculous."
Maybe we need to find a way for Der Spiegel to cover Michele Bachmann, Tom Coburn, Paul Broun, Jim DeMint and the rest of the delusional gang calling itself today’s Republican party. It would also be nice to see real reporters question Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, and the unmoored from reality Democrats at a press conference.

Read an article about how Inhofe was basically ignored. The article ended up with a conversation between two reporters asking one another who Inhofe was and if you spelled his name with one or two “f’s”

Good to hear. Sorry that it doesn’t happen more often in these Yew Nited States. I’ve long since turned off my tv & radio because I cannot bear to waste another fruitless second listening to or watching some bimbo (male or female) lending credibility to such crapulous nonsense.
That the fourth estate no longer does it’s job is no surprise to us here. Cold comfort to see that there’s still some credibility in other countries.
Inofe should hang his head in shame for being such an idiot, but he’ll just come back either victimizing himself to the “hitlers” in Europe or making up b.s. lies about how everyone was agog at his “true facts.”

Unfortunately narcisstic sociopaths like Inhofe don’t feel shame, they use and discard others in their relentless quest for egotistic self gratification. Imhofe has been trained by his party to robotically belch out only the official party line and like a good android he did so.
I think it could be fairly said that Imhofe was a reminder that he and his fellow GOP cultists put the word ass in asinine.

or at all…as you say, traditional media is really asleep at the switch here in the U.S. They are steadfast defenders of the establishment, among other things. not surprising given that most are so wealthy–they have a personal stake in defending the status quo

Great idea to keep Der Spiegel involved, along with any other European and international outlets that see our right-wingers for the frauds and hooligans they are. How about creating a progressive selection from the world press?
