Tina Fey spoke at the Center for Reproductive Rights Inaugural Gala and blew a well-justified fuse over the fanciful beliefs of certain GOP candidates regarding rape:
FEY: I wish we could have an honest and respectful dialogue about these complicated issues, but it seems like we can’t right now. And if I have to listen to one more gray-faced man with a two-dollar haircut explain to me what rape is, I’m gonna lose my mind!
I watch these guys and I’m like, “am I a secretary on Mad Men? What’s happening? Todd Akin….oof. Todd Akin claims that women can’t really get pregnant from a legitimate rape because the body secretes hormones….no, I can’t even finish this sentence without getting dumber. It’s making me dumber when I say it—but it’s something about the body not being able to get pregnant when it’s under physical stress. Mr. Akin, I think you are confusing the phrase ‘legitimate rape’ with the phrase ‘competitive gymnastics.’
I was proud that Tbogg was in a more charitable mood and offered some helpful words of advice to the salt’n'pepper brotherhood:

Tina failed to mention–maybe she doesn’t know?–that Mourdock’s Democratic opponent is also a gray-faced male who is anti-abortion, though he does except rape and incest, and who is a co-sponsor of the “forcible rape” act.
To be fair, I don’t how much he pays for his haircut, so maybe there is a big difference between him and Mourdock after all. (sarcasm)
And the Democrats have always worked so hard to defend women’s reproductive rights. Thank God, when the blue party has been in power, that slow chipping away of abortion rights that always occurs under Republican administrations ceases, and even reverses.
One of my favorite things about Obama is the way he never just pays lip service to the right of women to exercise control over their own bodies. He never goes on, say, late-night talk shows and crushes softballs out of the park with easy audience pleasers. No, he actually fights in the halls of power for women’s rights since he knows if he doesn’t, stalwart defenders of abortion rights like Gloria Steinem, Kate Michelman, Kim Gandy, and Ellie Smeal, and organizations like NOW, NARAL, and Feminist Majority won’t hesitate to hold his feet to the fire.
I’m proud to have an Obama tattoo on my dick.
Times New Roman?
Wingdings, of course.
Thank you for this video, Cleon. Love me some Tina Fey.
This is of course a serious issue, in spite of the spinning. Heard a sound bite this am referring to some of the stupid speech as some “goofy” statement about rape. Grrrrrr.
Yep, it a good thing HuffPo is pounding away on this issue or nobody would even know about it.
I guess the dems either agree, moderately or are too scared of the Christain right to say anything.
Hey, there are more of us than there are of them.
It makes me pretty scared of what Obama will do if he wins since his arms have gotten so strong throwing everybody under the bus.
At least he’s said “rape is a crime” and “rape is rape”, but nobody is standing up for a woman’s right to choose or contraception.
This rape thing may be and extreme ploy to get everyone’s attention OFF abortion and contraception…….or, they could want it all and just want to pound women back into the ground anyway they can.
It sure is deflecting attention from the corporate takeover of the country tho.
Congressmen only pay $2 for a haircut?
Make them pay the same as the rest of us……
