For nearly the entire 20th Century, Cheshire CT was run by Republicans. The records going back to 1907 showed no break in their control.
In 2001, the Democrats took control of everything: Town Council, Board of Education and PZC. In 2003, after a revaluation, the R’s came back, only to be thrown out again in 2005, with a replay in 2007.
In 2006, Cheshire led the way in CT-05 with our hometown hero, Chris Murphy, as we threw out Nancy Johnson, the darling of the insurance and medical PACs.
Just a few months ago, the Registrar of Voters informed us that, for the first time in memory, Democratic voters outnumbered Republicans. The majority is still Unaffiliated.
This morning, I was at my polling place at 6:15 am, to find an unprecedented line. It took 25 minutes to vote, vs. 5-10 in previous presidential years.
Change has come to Cheshire and keeps on rolling!
