It would appear that the Turks mean business these days…
Dozens of Israelis questioned at length upon landing in Turkey
Israeli passengers authorities at Istanbul airport humiliated them and made them undress to their underwear; Officials in Ankara say Turkish tourists subjected to same treatment evening before at Israel airport.
As Turkey had noted…
Turkey: Israel was first to humiliate passengers at airport
Following reports of dozens of Israelis’ prolonged questioning at Istanbul airport, Turkish officials say Israeli security personnel also delayed a group of Turkish tourists on Sunday, and thoroughly questioned them.
And even another Haaretz article on it…
Foreign Ministry officials admit: Turkey citizens routinely humiliated at Israel’s airport
Dozens of Israelis say they were humiliated at Istanbul airport, forced to strip to their underwear on Monday; Foreign Ministry officials say humiliation of Turkish citizens happens on regular basis in Israel.
Foreign Ministry officials told Haaretz on Monday that over the past year, there were dozens of complaints on the part of Turkish citizens who claimed they were humiliated by Israeli security personnel at Ben-Gurion airport.
The officials also said that almost every Turkish citizen who arrives at Ben-Gurion airport undergoes a routine procedure of extensive, humiliating examinations that also include undressing to one’s underwear.
“Turkish citizens are always separated from the rest of the passengers at the airport,” said a Foreign Ministry official.
Turn-about is fair play, I say…
Btw, Turkey is not playing patty-cake with Israel either…
Turkey: Israeli diplomats must leave country by Wednesday
Move marks latest step taken by Turkey against Israel following the release of the UN-commissioned report on the 2010 Gaza flotilla raid.
Now, today’s Al Jazeera Inside Story asks the burning question…
Are Turkey and Israel on a collision course?
We ask whether by challenging Israel’s blockade of Gaza at the ICJ, Turkey is setting a precedent others might follow…
…Ahmed Davutoglu, the Turkish foreign minister, said Turkey did not accept the findings of a UN report which said Israel’s blockade of Gaza was a legal security measure.
What is Turkey likely to gain from the legal battle? Is Ankara setting itself on a collision course with Tel Aviv, or setting a precedent in dealing with Israel that might be followed by other countries in the region?
Meanwhile, Bibi is still completely unapologetic…
Israeli PM refuses apology to Turkey
Netanyahu says his country regrets “loss of life” in May 2010 flotilla raid but will not say “sorry”.

Apparently, meaning business in Turkey is spelled c-o-j-o-n-e-s!
I do so hope it’s catching!
Turkey. My newest *favorite* country.
Right on Turkey!
F ya Turkey.
My Dawg those Turkish bastards have some serious motherFing elephant-sized cajones. Respect and admiration.
Why can’t we bastards have the same cajones?
Thanks CTuttle, you just put a smile on my face.
It certainly put a smile on my face…! ;-)
Far out!
Tweeted.
and recc’d.
Wow, somebody actually stands up to a thug (or should I say, THE thug)! Damn, did I die and wake up on Mars or something?
Things are going to get weird by the middle of October. The remainder of 2011 may see the eclipse of the perception, held since about 1980, of Israel being aggressively and unchallengeably dominant in the Levant.
Smoochez, Turkey.
Awesome, at least someone has some balls. Know it sure shit won’t be the US. God forbid stop being the lapdog of the Israelis.
As most of you probably know, I am no supporter of the current Israeli government. There is no legitimate question that the IDF with the consent of the government, if not pursuant to its explicit orders, committed multiple premeditated execution-style murders of unarmed people on the Mavi Marmara.
Nevertheless, I do not think either country should be humiliating innocent travelers from the other country by forcing them to strip down to the underwear. That’s wrong and I am calling bullshit on both countries.
Turkey should stand up to Israel, but this is a chickenshit response and I condemn it.
“Turkey should stand up to Israel, but this is a chickenshit response and I condemn it.”
I thought I was the only person who felt that way. Leave the innocents alone, both Israeli and Turkish.
Boxturtle (Israeli Asassians normally travel under British or Canadian passports anyway)
Come on, people.
The positive statement of the Golden Rule is do unto others as you would want them to do unto you.
The Turkish officials are violating the Golden Rule by doing unto traveling citizens of Israel as Israeli officials did unto traveling citizens of Turkey. This is vengeance by proxy which is shameful behavior no matter who engages in it.
Y’all know better and you’re better than that.
Namaste
I’ll make one more point and then shut-up.
We must distinguish between what governments do and what their citizens believe and do.
Just as not all Americans support our fucked-up corrupt government and its officials, not all Israelis support its fucked-up government and its officials. Hell, a lot of Palestinians are Israeli citizens who oppose their government and not all Jewish Israeli citizens support their government either.
We have to raise our consciousness to the level where we realize the expression, We the People, includes all of the people in the world because we really have more in common with them than with our own government.
Our duty is to spread this word and live it.
When all of the people of the world realize it, regardless of citizenship, religion, race, ethnicity, or gender, we the people will have won the revolution.
This is the central truth of our time and we must own it individually and make it so collectively.
I will now return control of your television set . . .
:)
First let me state that its cheaper than porno scans to strip people. But Profiling is easy to beat just find someone who does not match the profile.

Some countries play diplomatic games and do this all the time and it means nothing other countries do this sometimes but again it means nothing.
Some countries only do this when they are on the brink of war.
What is Turkey likely to gain from the legal battle? Is Ankara setting itself on a collision course with Tel Aviv, or setting a precedent in dealing with Israel that might be followed by other countries in the region?
Other countries don’t have the legal case Turkey does against Israel Palestine is not a country yet. Iran, Syria etc both might join Turkey to run the Israeli blockade.
Its a great way to wag the dog and distract voters at home unhappy with the economy.
Bibi needs a war too and soon his sky high rent slumlord moneymen do not want Israeli Jews and Muslims uniting to protest THEM!
Divide and Conquer is the way the rich keep power world wide the rich world wide do not want Arab Spring to take down Bibi over the rent, they don’t want him to be undone and set an example of what happens when the divided poor and middle class realize just who has the money and who is exploiting them both.
“What is Turkey likely to gain from the legal battle?”
IMO the Turks have simply had enough. They’re going to start escorting Gaza convoys with their warships and if Israel does anything Turkey will invoke the defense provisions of the NATO treaty. Thus giving America the choice of following the treaty, breaking up NATO or simply throwing Turkey out.
They will likely wait until the UN vote before they actually escort anything. Or Turkey may be bluffing.
Boxturtle (Thinks Turkey is done bluffing)
“Turn-about is fair play, I say…”
Well, CTuttle, if the Israeli passengers being harassed in Istanbul were the security personal who harassed Turks at Ben-Gurion airport then I’d agree with you.
But, of course, they’re not.
Your gleeful reaction to the harassment of people who’ve done nothing wrong (except for being Israeli, that is) does you no credit.
