And Caesar’s spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
~ Julius Caesar Act 3, scene 1, 270–275
More about that Aleppo car bombing… U.S. officials: Al Qaida behind Syria bombings…
…The Iraqi branch of al Qaida, seeking to exploit the bloody turmoil in Syria to reassert its potency, carried out two recent bombings in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and likely was behind suicide bombings Friday that killed at least 28 people in the largest city, Aleppo, U.S. officials told McClatchy.
The officials cited U.S. intelligence reports on the incidents, which appear to verify Syrian President Bashar Assad’s charges of al Qaida involvement in the 11-month uprising against his rule. The Syrian opposition has claimed that Assad’s regime… …staged the bombings to discredit the pro-democracy movement calling for his ouster…
I wonder if our Lamestream Media and the Syrian Opposition will try to blame Assad for this targeted assassination… Top general killed in Damascus ambush…
…Three gunmen ambushed a military general on a residential street in Damascus today, the Syrian government reported, in an assassination of a government stalwart that was the first of its kind in the Syrian capital and another step away from the non-violent roots of the anti-government protests.
The general, Dr Issa al-Khouli, a middle-aged physician and brigadier general who ran the Hameish military hospital, was shot dead as he stepped from his house in the morning, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
As Pepe Escobar wrote today…
…Be afraid. Be very afraid. The Return of the Keyboard Warriors – a prized Return of the Living Dead spin-off – is at hand. From Republican chicken hawks to public intellectuals, right-wing America is erupting in renewed neo-conservative revolt. The year 2012 is the new 2002; Iran is the new Iraq. Whatever the highway – real men go to Tehran via Damascus, or real men go to Tehran non-stop – they want a war, and they want it now… {snip}
…If this is what passes for intellectual analysis in the upper strata of the Anglo-American axis, no wonder the whole business of Empire is doomed.
Far more insidious than The Invasion of the Keyboard Warriors is its effect on the warrior-in-chief, US President Barack Obama. Recently, Obama has been conducting product placement for Robert Kagan’s new book, The World America Made. Kagan, a neo-con stalwart, advises Mitt Romney – who may, or may not, become the Republican presidential nominee, assuming he wins over the visceral repulsion he provokes in extreme right-wing circles.
As Andrew Levine from the Institute for Policy Studies has shrewdly observed, [4] Obama the neo-con may be a very clever move to pre-empt Mitt and win even more votes. But it may be an exercise in transparency, as Obama, even before his State of the Union address, has been reciting Kagan to the letter, as in forget Asia, this will be another American century, and I will be at the helm; thus remember, it is I that coined the only change you can believe in.
And that’s when this really becomes a scary movie; if Obama the neo-con concludes that to get to his new, dominant American century first he needs to do some vacuum-cleaning in Southwest Asia, blowback or not, he’ll do it – to the delight of the Keyboard Warrior brigade.
Ever more Pepe…
…Here’s a crash course on the “democratic” machinations of the Arab League – rather the GCC League, as real power in this pan-Arab organization is wielded by two of the six Persian Gulf monarchies composing the Gulf Cooperation Council, also known as Gulf Counter-revolution Club; Qatar and the House of Saud… {snip}
…The report is adamant. There was no organized, lethal repression by the Syrian government against peaceful protesters. Instead, the report points to shady armed gangs as responsible for hundreds of deaths among Syrian civilians, and over one thousand among the Syrian army, using lethal tactics such as bombing of civilian buses, bombing of trains carrying diesel oil, bombing of police buses and bombing of bridges and pipelines.
Once again, the official NATOGCC version of Syria is of a popular uprising smashed by bullets and tanks. Instead, BRICS members Russia and China, and large swathes of the developing world see it as the Syrian government fighting heavily armed foreign mercenaries. The report largely confirms these suspicions.
The Syrian National Council is essentially a Muslim Brotherhood outfit affiliated with both the House of Saud and Qatar – with an uneasy Israel quietly supporting it in the background. Legitimacy is not exactly its cup of green tea. As for the Free Syrian Army, it does have its defectors, and well-meaning opponents of the Assad regime, but most of all is infested with these foreign mercenaries weaponized by the GCC, especially Salafist gangs…
Now, there’s truly much f*ckery afoot, as the dogs of war are unleashed…
Russia accuses West of arming Syrian rebels…
…Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Western states were stirring up trouble in Syria, where Assad has pursued a violent crackdown since March on protests against his 11-year rule.
“Western states inciting Syrian opposition to uncompromising actions, as well as those sending arms to them, giving them advice and direction, are participating in the process of fomenting the crisis,” Itar-Tass news agency quoted Ryabkov as saying.
He did not specify which nations were arming Syrian rebels. {snip}
…Ryabkov, speaking on a visit to Colombia, said Russia would take “drastic measures” if the West kept trying to intervene in Syria’s internal affairs through the Security Council.
“The U.N. council is not a tool for intervention in internal affairs and is not the agency to decide which government is to be next in one country or another,” Ryabkov said. “If our foreign partners don’t understand that, we will have to use drastic measures to return them to real grounds.” {snip}
…Russia’s lower house of parliament adopted a statement on Friday condemning the West for “intervening in other states’ affairs and imposing outside decisions on them”.
Some lawmakers in the assembly, which is controlled by Putin’s ruling party, called for firmer resistance to the West.
“There is criticism in the Duma that Russia’s position on Syria is not strong enough. They say Russia should press its point harder,” Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs, told Reuters…
The Russian Duma response is on a par with our own fetid, AIPAC-led Congress Critters’ rabid response…! Here’s a poignant example…
…Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Ohio, who chairs the Middle East subcommittee on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told FoxNews.com the U.S. should consider arming the opposition.
“They are essentially completely defenseless right now, and I think that’s inhumane,” Chabot said.
As MJ Rosenberg bluntly pointed out… Iran War: What Is AIPAC Planning?
Now, I don’t blame the Russians for their concern(s)… Billions at stake as Russia backs Syria… And, the fate of Russia’s only military base outside the former Soviet Union, a naval facility in the Mediterranean port of Tartus, Syria…! Of which the Russians have recently dispatched one of their aircraft carriers to…!
But I digress… Now, it seems that the War Propaganda machine is working some serious overtime… 15,000 elite Iranian special-ops ‘head’ to Syria… I remain dubious about that claim…! And it would seem that I’m not alone…

The upheaval in Syria certainly looks like the work of 0 and the likudniks working hard to destablize the government and draw Iran into fighting army to army. I do believe that the consequences of stirring this hornets nest will be much more than our insane leaders are willing to foresee. We could all wind up in tatters if they stupidly and obstinately continue on this path.

“the growing unpopularity of the Syrian regime in Western circles’ – an odd way to say “the growing plot of Western imperialists to topple by any dirty means the (not-100% Western lackey) Assad regime”. Not mentioning the nightmare results of such toppling for Syrian people if Libya could serve as indication.
The very grossness of the Western imperialism crimes against Syria could prod somebody with a modicum of sole(sic) to defend Assad. After all, is Obama better? Sure, he is much worse, the open war criminal, torturer and so on. Assad is a small fry compared to Obama.
…if Libya could serve as indication.
Yes it does, shek, yes it does…! 8-(
Recommended. Nothing to add, but why no mention yet of Assad’s nuclear ambitions?
*heh* I thought that was laid to rest in Operation Orchard, ET…? ;-)
“Hours after the Security Council debate and vote, the Russian and Chinese embassies in Tripoli, Libya were attacked by Syrian and Libyan hooligans. Dozens of Syrian embassies around the world were also targeted for violent protests. In Sydney, Australia, a pro-Assad activist was shot as he left his home….
According to a senior U.S. intelligence source, both Russia and China have concluded that the Anglo-Americans and their French allies are seeking to establish absolute control over the strategic oil supplies in the Persian Gulf—and that means that both Russia and China must be kept out. For China, in particular, this is an existential issue, given China’s growing reliance on energy supplies from the Persian Gulf. At the present time, China is the number one importer of Iranian oil, and China’s largest source of oil is Saudi Arabia….
There is no other way to interpret the events of last weekend at the United Nations in New York. There is no legitimate reason for the level of provocations being targeted against Moscow and Beijing by London, Washington, and Paris—except that they are out to provoke an all-out strategic confrontation, using Syria and Iran as pretexts.
For London, the motive behind such a berserker drive for thermonuclear World War III could not be more obvious. The entire trans-Atlantic financial and monetary system is hopelessly bankrupt, and time is running out on any efforts to postpone the day of reckoning. According to a senior U.S. intelligence official who stays on top of the European financial crisis, the Inter-Alpha Group-led European private banks will need at least EU5 trillion in zero-interest bailout loans before the end of the year in order to avoid meltdown. This means that the combined U.S. Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank will be carrying out a monetary hyperinflation beyond Weimar Germany’s Autumn 1923 blowout.
For London [City of, Inc.], the prospect of a trans-Atlantic hyperinflationary explosion, while the Asia-Pacific region continues to enjoy relative prosperity, is unacceptable. The Queen believes that genocidal war is preferable to the loss of City of London power.”

The Chinese have already said “thanks, but no thanks” to offers from the Empire to include them in the honor of donating money to the “bailout.” I guess this is their version of “up against the wall, f—er.”
Cry “Havoc” indeed dear Shakespeare.
Thanks for trying to do your bit to prevent WW III CTuttle. If we live through it, posterity will owe you.
Sorry, we wouldn’t live through WW III, if we “avoid” it is a better construction. “gah”
…posterity will owe you.
I fervently hope so, northwestbynorth…! ;-)
I like how Pepe conjoins NATO and the GCC; it seems to be not only accurate, but a formidable force. If you add in the carrots that the US fed many Arab League nations to get ‘enough if them’ to vote for R2P war over Libya, it’s pretty monumental.
Then when you factor in AFRICOM, and open secret plans Pepe names ‘NATO on the March’, it’s freaking insane. Sub-Saharan Africa is already a playground for covert resource wars against China, and few in the US even realize it, conveniently enough.
One other thing that Pepe mentioned awhile back is that as O’Bomba openly announced his intentions to pivot troops and armaments to the Pacific to enforce the new Trans-Pacific trade deals, build a mega-base in Australia, etc., China will by now be bristling at American Empire and hegemony hubris more than ever.
None of this can end well, can it?I keep seeing that new poll the WP did wherein we see across the political spectrum what child’s play it is to convince gullible Americans to support amoral policies if you can scare them enough. Yeah, BFD: Americans might want the war in Afghanistan to draw down (they must believe Iraq is over), but this poll shows how easy it will be to find support for another, then another…

I mean: “But fully 77 percent of liberal Democrats endorse the use of drones, meaning that Obama is unlikely to suffer any political consequences as a result of his policy in this election year.
Support for drone strikes against suspected terrorists stays high, dropping only somewhat when respondents are asked specifically about targeting American citizens living overseas, as was the case with Anwar al-Awlaki, the Yemeni American killed in September in a drone strike in northern Yemen.”
American Exceptional and Judicious Morality.
I say cede the planet back to the cockroaches and dolphins, see if the next evolutionary steps bring anything saner to the planet.
US iz Syriasly INSANE!
What is there to discuss? The Government and people of the United States of America and Israel are determined to open another front in their war against everyone in the Middle East who does not leap to obey them. That’s how expansionist racist settler states behave. There is no difference none whatsoever between America and Israel. This fact is becoming ever more clear to ever more people in the region. For myself I am convinced it is only a matter of time before the Zionist politicians currently running the American outpost launch open military operations against one or more countries in the region. At which point it will be interesting to see whether the tactics my mentors in Southern Lebanon taught me are as effective there as they were for us.
Mohammed Ibn Laith
Allah U’ abha, Mohammed Ibn Laith…! I fear that you are right, but, I truly hope saner minds do prevail…!
The only language that they have ever spoken to is the language of violence of contempt of exploitation. It is the only language they can speak they and the only language they understand. We proved that in Irak repeatedly and Hizballah have proved it also repeatedly in Lebanon. It seems we Middle-eastern Muslims are going to be forced to speak to the Americans and their Israeli front men in the only language they can speak and understand again.
I bitterly resent this necessity as rebuilding my country after the devastation willfully wrought upon it by the Government and people of the United States requires considerable effort. But as the American people, their government and their Zionist front-men have repeatedly proved by their actions that they remain determined to dominate and subjugate everyone who lives in this region a necessity is what it is.
