In this week between Christmas and New Years, I want to start with some of the bad news on Occupy efforts that have been covered at Firedoglake and partners. Jane has had some posts on the status of occupations around the country (here, here, and here for example.)
I have to applaud the persistence of some of the Occupy efforts. Mentatmark tells us of the Occupy Erie problems here:
Occupy Erie had Official Visitors again yesterday morning, for at least the seventh time since the middle of October. Each time they come, more gear is taken, more stringent rules announced. Canopies, tarps, sleeping bags, cardboard, and a child’s tent, all thrown into the back of a City truck each time. We are told we can get our stuff back, but it will only be returned to the proper owner. And we have yet to be told when and where to go to get it. Maybe this spring or summer. There has only been one arrest to date.
Robert Alexander Dumas lets us know about the second eviction that Occupy Tucson had faced then tells us a couple of days later about Occupy Tucson finding a third location to Occupy. As cadogblog said in this diary about Occupy San Luis Obispo a couple of weeks ago, “We’re not going anywhere.”
Amerigus let us know about Occupy Albany’s eviction and Gibraltor kept us informed about Occupy Santa Cruz.
Speaking of cadogblog, he told us of the Occupy Solstice dinner they had at Occupy San Luis Obispo while Jerry Waxman wrote about the Occupy Orlando Christmas dinner.
Jane had some nice Christmas Day posts on Occupy Boise, Occupy Harrisburg, and Occupy Memphis. In Boise, local news interviewed FDL’s Occupy Supply Liaison Katie F. here.
If you miss anything Occupy related, please check the Occupy Supply Headquarters page where you can find links to the top Occupy related posts and diaries from the last few days, the links to the slideshow of pictures we’ve received, videos on Occupy Wall Street from around the web and the FDL Occupy Wall Street archives.
This link is to an FDL Activism Toolkit in case you want to write a diary for your local efforts (or just wish to write a diary at MyFDL for whatever topic you choose). Keep us informed as you fight the power!

Rec’d; thanks for these always valuable and interesting round-ups, dakine!
Thanks Brian. I know it is real easy for some of these wonderful posts and diaries to fall through the cracks what with the holidays and all the other content available here.
Thanks Dakine for the report and keeping it front and center. I would guess that the PTB think because of the dismantling of encampments and the holidays people will forget about the occupy movement. IMHO I think the Occupy movement has a surprise for them come Spring. Rec’d and recommended.
Well, I think the occupations need to take a new form. Instead of 24 hour a day occupations, 12 hour a day occupations, with “occupiers” sleeping in people’s homes.
It appears that (12 hour a day) occupiers need to be forced to leave their sleeping abodes for 12 hours a day. I was at Zuccotti Park last week, which had about 20 people in it. I walked up to one of them, and asked “Where is everybody?”.
He said that many were being housed in churches (plus some are occupying houses under threat of foreclosure, etc.). That was fine by me, but I asked why they didn’t come to Zuccotti during the day. Basically, he said that they didn’t want to. I asked what they were doing all day. He thought that they were on the internet.

First the banks steal our money, then Washington steals our SS and Medicare now the local police want the coats off of OWS’s back’s?
Jack booted thugs of the Anti Christ where are all the black helicopter people it TIME!
Oh wait the black helicopter folks want to fight Obama because they think he won’t give the rich a tax cut!
I made some calls and Occupy Hilo/Hawaiian Isles are willing to be guinea pigs, Jane…! ;-)
Many of my comrades here are reading FDL now…! I’m still working on having ‘em comment and post…! I’m about to donate my netbook to the Occupy Honolulu crew to livestream their physical Occupy…!
I’ll post more as events arise… Occupy Hilo has a full slate of protests for January, like the 16th’s Occupy the Dream, and the 17th…!
In St. Louis they have moved indoors as there encampment was raided and shut down. They are still holding GA meetings and planning events for the spring. They have also taken up the homeless issue in St. Louis as they had a x-mas eve dinner for the homeless. I think they will be out in force come spring time. IMHO they have already changed the dialogue in Washington, they are not talking about the deficit. I think getting people to wake up has been the essence of Occupy. They are occupying houses and churches in St. Louis as well.
Waterproof Firedoglake boots just arrived in Boise in time for
several days of predicted winter rain! Then there will be January cold …
It’s nice to be able to hear the voices of FDL members on the webinar. Thanks for your efforts CT you are a respected voice at FDL and I appreciate all you do.
