Some excellent diaries, videos, and pictures have come our way the last few days.

From the diary realm, our first one is from Mentatmark on Sunday, January 8 from Occupy Erie.

On Jan 4, members of Occupy Erie went to the City Council meeting, to again ask that they permit us some sort of shelter in the Square. As you may be aware, we have been raided and had equipment confiscated at least seven times since Dec 10, with one arrest. Members of the Mayor’s Administration have given us conflicting information about the need for permits, what they are ok with (for this go round, until they change their minds again), telling us they are ok with this, but acting not so ok, and all the other ploys used to sandbag us. We hope to get the City Council to pass something that clears the way for us to have some sort of cover from the weather.

Also from Sunday, cadogblog updated us on Occupy San Luis Obispo.

Occupy San Luis Obispo is 82 days old today, our Occupation began last October 20 on the lawn of the San Luis Obispo County Courthouse. In the days that followed the lawn area filled with homeless occupiers, The camp was unprepared, surprised by, and ultimately unable to cope with the rapid influx of homeless people coming to the camp seeking aid.

…snip…

With 18 days remaining until our hundredth day of occupying, we’re planning a celebration.

Two important things happened Saturday. First, a man came to the tent and asked “who is paying for all this”? When he was told that we pay for it ourselves as we go along, he asked if he could help us out saying “I don’t want you to have to give this up”.

Second, we were visited by a young social services worker who is a member of Occupy LA., visiting her parents in San Luis. She spoke at the GA. And told us how amazing it is that after the split and the harassment that we are still here. She reminded us of what we’ve accomplished just by being here.

RFShunt gave us a heads up on Occupy Pittsburgh and a call for action as they begin a court case against Bank of New York/Mellon.

Popyeye99 tells us about the Occupy the Midwest Conference slated for next week in St Louis

Hello all. I received an email from FDL member Lee last night with some information n the Occupy the Midwest Conference to be held in St. Louis March 15th – 18th. Their website is here and they give a detailed timeline of events and working groups. This is a huge event and should invigorate the occupy movement not only here but all through out the Midwest.

Tobiasfox sent us some videos from Occupy Newark meeting with Mayor Booker. Here’s the first:

There are two more videos available at FDL’s VodPod (linked below).

Finally, we have some pictures provided by Sandy F from Occupy Rochester as they put up a tent:
