Moon, Ginger Baker, n a few others then were gods at their craft.
I also like Santana’s old drummer Michael Schreeves, when he was 17 or so, at Woodstock. Soul Sacrifice is classic.
But Moon, had that something, and he died.
Even Baker and his heroin habit lived longer than Moon.
But Moon could bang on them drums, there are youtube clips galore.
N this, is a good youtube of Moon, and his bio.

And funny Dakine, we is headed to a fest soon.
And Hot Rize, is on the menu.
They will likely do Riders In The Sky, too.
Sadly, Charles Sawtelle the original git player will not be there, bless his soul RIP.
However, I DO believe this will be epic, as Tim OBrien and Nick Forrester and Doc Banjo (Pete Warnick) are not gettin any younger.
Man have I been lucky to see these folks . . . .
I was at a party at John Mayall’s house in 76 or 77 and Keith Moon was there. He had a sport coat on and both pockets were filled with pills of all sizes, shapes and colours that he handed out to any and all takers. He also had some powder he said was coke that he was luring the women into the bathroom to snort. It was PCP, one woman freaked out (my buddy’s date) and the police and EMTs were called. Mayall was not amused.
Outside of that behaviour Moon was still a world class asshole.
It often seems that lot of the exceptionally talented have extreme assholish tendencies.
It is decidedly not cool to say a substance is one thing then slip something else. That or slipping something into a drink or whatever without telling the person. I had a buddy one time who got slipped some acid in a drink at a party and needed to be talked don for a few hours. He would have been fine if he’d been aware but he was not.
And I can understand why Mayall would not be happy at having John Law showing up at his home.
