AN illustrious group today. I know them all.
Thanks Bruce for helping give us Obama. Nice work (for a corporatist/fascist).
Now, now…
I love the Boss, but I think he needs to be celebrated with his own music, not someone else’s. And for the soundtrack of these soul-destroying, spirit-crushing times, is there any better song than this?
The River
Ironic that this is 1979 (although the album didn’t come out until the next year), which was, relatively speaking, Paradise. (Although I, a stupid child, didn’t recognize it for what it was at the time…)
Also interesting that, instead of the recorded “there ain’t been much work, on account of the economy”, Bruce sings “there ain’t been *no* work”. Simpler and bolder.
(The epitaph for America, perhaps?)
(The apostrophes look weird in the preview. Hope that isn’t actually an issue. And I lack the knowledge to embed the video in the post; if someone can remedy that, please do. Thanks.)
