Woo-hooo!!! Johnny Winter!
I saw him 6 times. What a showman!
He played and played and played, hours on end. Legend says speed had something to do with it.
One night, I saw him do seven encores. He [often] played so long and the screaming audience was still into it, that the last few encores he did with the lights on, so people would get the hint and finally leave.
Once I saw him at the St. Pete Bay Front Center with Southern rockers Molly Hatchet opening. Molly Hatchet came out with an over-sized case of beer, and handed out beers to the people in the front row.
To top that, Johnny Winter came out with an over-sized box of Hav-a-Tampa cigars, but the cigars were joints. He threw them out to the audience.
