1)The democrats only pushed this to stop a general strike, so it is not surprising they would not invest any time in it.
2)Barrett is a dino and a good friend of Rahm Emanuel, so he probably would have sold out the unions once elected. He would have treated the union almost, but not quite as bad as Walker.
3)I would rather have a republican win then a dem sellout, since the left goes to sleep when democratic conservatives are elected and will not fight them.
4)Walker can’t do much since dems won back the Senate. Dems at the state legislature level are not as corrupt as the dems in the National and Executive State level.
5)The obvious lack of support the dems gave this probably will cause labor to finally break with the conservative dem establishment. For instance they will get rid of Rahm asskissers like Gerald McEntee, which is a good thing.
6)The damage done already will hurt Wisconsin for years so I suspect voters will get rid of Walker in 2 years this time with a real democrat rather than a dino.
I am not as torn up over the results as some people.

There’s also the fact that most (60%) of the Wisconsinites who voted yesterday approve of recalls only when there’s official evidence of misconduct (i.e., indictments and the like). Anything that, rightly or wrongly, they think smacks more of political payback than of punishing official misconduct, they don’t like.
Dameocrat, I’m with you 100%.

The only problem is, with unlimited PAC money elections are basically rigged from now on. It doesn’t matter what the candidate’s record is if you can saturate the media with political ads that distort the truth and smear the other side at election time.
On your item 6, the party that gets rid of Walker in 2014 might not be Democrat but some third party — either more traditional Wisconsin progressive or libertarian. Depends on how things move. And whether folks can be unhooked from distracting media and deal with issues as adults.
Until the media doesn’t figure as large in voting decisions. Saturation at some point has diminishing or negative returns.
Agreed. Matt Stoller doesn’t, agree that is: http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2012/06/wisconsin-recap-thanks-to-obama-american-left-lies-in-smoldering-wreckage.html A touch hyperbolic, but he scorches the people who deserve it.
I hate it when the Repukes use our Democratic common sense of justice against us.
Glad you are coming around to the notion that a third party is better than a dlc dem. I consider guys like Barrett more effective evils, not lesser evil in anyway.
at some point the media narrative gets discredited.
DIdn’t know that Barrett was one of Rahm’s buddies.
Barrett is probably even more pissed off because his buddy Rahm and their boss Obama did nothing for him.
the fairy tale of third party not bowing to special interest is laughable. that is the game now, two party system, three party system, eight party system. check out my blog on the real damage of Citizens United. http://www.ericnewsdaily.blogspot.com
That presumes Barrett wanted to win! His quick concession would hint at a game thrower.
if citizens united is not changed the new party will eventually be as bad as the republicrats but it will take a while. In the meantime we have a window of opportunity to change the system so does not happen.
One thing is for sure. The present corrupt parties have no incentive to over-ride citizens united.
Also the greens have platform adherance requirements, and people that don’t tow the line lose endorsements.
A Dem throwing a fight? I would be shocked!
Candidates like Clinton and Obama are more insidious than Bush. If Bush were still in office, Democrats would be marching on the streets, protesting. But because Obama, though a corporatist at heart, has the “appearance” of a peoplist, he gets away with his tax breaks for the rich, his failure to veto the National Defense Authorization Act, his failure to propose a public option, his proposal to lower the corporate tax rate, his grand bargain to cut social security and medicare, etc.
Politicians like Obama and Clinton are actually more dangerous to Progressives than George W. Bush: they project the appearance of being on the side of the 99% when, in fact, they, like most of the politicians in Washington, are representing the 1%.
Very, very dangerous.

Great comment…
Good observations.
Also great comments…
Bravo !
You’re right. It will all become one thing.
You cahn’t be suggesting that Barrett took a dive! Oh, my pearls! A Democrat down and dirty!
My friend quips : With Repubs it is like outright rape, with Dems it is more like date rape.
Are you still a mod?
3)I would rather have a republican win then a dem sellout, since the left goes to sleep when democratic conservatives are elected and will not fight them.
Boy, ain’t that the truth!
Recommended. Good way of looking at the situation.
McEntee and Trumka should be run out of town on a rail. We need real leaders who speak for the workers in this country, not these poseurs. Bruce Dixon wrote about this about union leaders at BAR:

Maybe this will be a wake-up call for everyone. And unions better get their shit together soon and get rid of these 1% opportunists.
Thanks, Dameocrat.
