The Lights of Perverted Science
By David Glenn Cox

During the darkest days of World War II, Winston Churchill said something which was quite radical for the time and largely went unnoticed, but in our modern 21st Century existence, perhaps it needs to be reconsidered.

“If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.”

By “perverted science”, Churchill meant radar and proximity fuses. This was before the buzz bombs or the V-2. It is such an explicit and exquisite term, perverted science, encapsulating and distilling knowledge without benefit, counterproductive, Mary-Shelly-Frankenstein knowledge. Nightmare technologies like nuclear weapons which once begun can never be ended. Our country is awash in genetically modified foods, fracking, drones, armed guards and RFI chips, yet, when we look at these things in a rear view mirror to see a reversed image, we see something far more frightening, as the seeds perverted science can only prosper in the soils of perverted government. Other governments around the world have dismissed out of hand proposals for GMO crops, GMO foods, fracking and drone surveillance.

This is made possible by corporate control of the American media creating a false sense of reality and of normality. The media in the United States of America is nearly as censored and editorially controlled as was the German press under Joseph Goebbels during the Nazi era. It was way back in February, almost an eon ago to modern media outlets when Chris Dorner, a fired Los Angeles Policeman killed two fellow officers and wounded three others. Dorner left behind a manifesto on his Facebook page claiming to have been victimized by the authorities because he had reported a fellow officer for abusing a mentally ill suspect.

Dorner was portrayed in the media as a mad man, rage-filled committing atrocities. In Dorner’s own words: “The department has not changed since the Rampart and Rodney King days. It has gotten worse; I know I will be vilified by the LAPD and the media. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake and complete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name.”

Then something unexpected happened. People began to read Dorner’s manifesto and began hitting the “Like” button on his Facebook page. Thousands read and understood his message; he’d been screwed for trying to do the right thing. That message resonated with the disenfranchised American millions, those who have lost homes, families and livelihoods. The media tries to vilify them too, so when it began to look as if the Chris Dorner story might backfire, the story was quickly smothered, just as questions about Sandy Hook were smothered, just as questions about 9-11 were smothered.

The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings. We decided long ago that the dangers of excessive and unwarranted concealment of pertinent facts far outweighed the dangers which are cited to justify it. Even today, there is little value in opposing the threat of a closed society by imitating its arbitrary restrictions. Even today, there is little value in insuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it. And there is very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment. ~ John F. Kennedy

Who knows, maybe I’m right, but then again, maybe not. The world sure does seem to be an upside down place in America these days. Do you remember back to… oh, I don’t know, about twenty eight-million jobs ago? Back in the days when Republicans and Democrats held hands singing the praises of Free Trade,? Yes, it was all going to be quite wonderful and it was going to create jobs for us, too!

Today we have over 12 million unemployed in this country[*] — quite literally a lost generation; college graduates who are long-term unemployed or working part time at dollar store jobs trying to pay off student loan debt, when they should be building their careers. Yet in our political dialog this subject is not just muted, it is forbidden. All talk of jobs and job creation is nebulous. Barack Obama visits an American Auto factory, his coat and tie off with his sleeves rolled up; gee, he must be one of us! The President of the Mexican automobile manufacturers association has publicly announced American manufacturers’ plan to double their production in Mexican factories before the end of the decade.

Recently I talked with some teenagers about their futures and they were quite sanguine. Where is ambition without imitation? If they don’t know of anyone who went to school and got a great job, what will they dream? What career fields would you suggest for a teenager to go into these days? What are the growth fields in America, I mean besides the Dollar Store or the military? How will these young Americans ever be able to climb into the ranks of the middle class without good jobs? But here is one of those media misconceptions; the average American family earns about $49,000 per year. That’s the average income, with many, meaning most, earning far less than that average. So when Barack Obama talks about middle class tax cuts for those earning less than $200,000, who’s he talking to?

Does he not understand our pain? Or does Obama really believe $200,000 in income per year is middle-class… do you? Is he wrong or is it us? Could it be that Obama isn’t speaking to us but rather over us and speaking to those who do earn $200,000 annually and his message is: you’re the new middle class. There are billionaires, mega-millionaires and you guys… the middle class. You drive last year’s Mercedes and are so poor you sent your children to a public university. Obama believes people earning $200,000 per year, nearly $17,000 a month, need tax cuts! What about you, what about the five or six of you out there who don’t earn $17,000 a month; what has Obama done for you?

I don’t mean to just beat up on President Obama, it’s not fair really. Obama is just a figurehead for an even more corrupt government kept as a pet or sideshow attraction for corporate America. The road is now clear; it’s to be government by the World Wrestling Federation. Play acting, make-believe with staged public events against the backdrop of an ever-growing police presence. Why would they need all those cops and all that surveillance equipment, if they weren’t preparing to do something outrageous? (Paging, Mister Simpson, paging Mister Bowles)

What is it that our government is so afraid of? And from its own people? Gee, that’s almost a tough one. Why would the Department of Homeland Security purchase a 100 year supply of ammunition, including hollow points and sniper rounds? This big old world faces so many challenges, doesn’t it, with global warming and growing energy demands. World fish stocks are declining due to pollution and over-fishing. The resources of the world are being gobbled up at an excessive and alarming rate as the human population continues to rise, recently reaching seven billion. A 2010, UN estimate puts the planet’s population as climbing to 10.5 billion by 2050 and the old girl might not be able stand the strain, so somebody’s gonna have to get off.

What would a responsible, law-abiding government do to maintain the resources necessary to protect the viability of its citizens? Never mind about those guys; ask yourself, what would this government do? If you think that it’s hard finding a job now, wait until the US population hits 352 million, around 2025.

So let’s see, we now need a passport even to visit Canada or Mexico, but Free Trade products don’t. You need to be physically inspected at the airport, but the Next Day Air packages in the cargo hold don’t. There is a list published by this government identifying those not allowed into this country, but also, those not allowed to leave it.

I did not know then how much was ended. When I look back now from this high hill of my old age, I can still see the butchered women and children lying heaped and scattered all along the crooked gulch as plain as when I saw them with eyes still young. And I can see that something else died there in the bloody mud, and was buried in the blizzard. A people’s dream died there. It was a beautiful dream… ~ Black Elk
