Good Saturday Morning Chair People!
As this is the Pull Up a Chair opportunity for us to settle down together before Christmas, I thought we could have fun sharing funny and silly Christmas stuff. With a h/t to beerfartliberal, I share with you Bob Dylan’s Must Be Santa. Sorry for the ad first, but man, what a party!
And, Bruce Springsteen’s Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. Always a hit around here, right?
This one might take you back a few years. Alvin!
I think most of us all dig Willy Nelson. His version of Frosty The Snow Man will get your toes tappin’ and put a smile on your face.
It’s a Christmas Tunapalolooza.
Christmas funny deer + Santa singing Basketcase by Greenday
I’m thinking some of you have more songs to share. Or funny personal stories. Or, if you don’t like Christmas music, this post will have you screaming and running for shelter.
Pull Up a Chair and say Hey Ya!

Good Morning, Pups.
It’s dark. It’s cold. But, we’ve got each other.
Santa Claus and his old lady.
Good morning!
Good morning demi and folks yet to arrive this morning.
Thank you for the post demi.
Temps went below zero last night/this morning.
demi, how is your son doing with the teeth extraction recovery?
morning divine MS d,
Smooth as silk from Christmas Island, simply sublime:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u1UPPG8mPg
He’s pretty miserable, if you want to know the truth. He’s a very stoic person and a real trooper, so he’s not complaining, but there’s pain and swelling. I don’t know if we’ll be able to go to his planned birthday party at my mom’s tonight.
Thanks for asking and I wish I had a better answer.
Good morning demi. Here is what you asked for yesterday. Makes a nice background of carols. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jga12Im8cvk I’m just waking up to some snow finally. enjoy folks.
Mamacita! It’s so nice to see you and are you feeling any better?
Leon and Dr John forever,
A little better this morning though it’s clear that I wasn’t really over it yet. My work day yesterday was pretty miserable. Yuck!
(best Cheech Marin voice) Ah man….what I have done? I can’t listen and comment at the same time, man. What am I gonna do?
LMAO! Turns out Kuroneko is afraid of Leon Redbone’s voice!
Nonny! I think I’m going to have to wait until later to listen to some of the links. I know, I’ll wait until my daughter and SIL get here. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Thanks.
Poor you. Sick is no fun. I just happen to have some pain medication and lots of soup in the house.
That is funny, Morning Margaret
Morning Pups,
Daylight arrived a little earlier today, anyone notice. Oh wait, demi, check it out.
Good morning firedogs. Thanks for the post and host demi.
Thanks spuds for the link to Celtic Woman. That’ll be my background music for the morning.
It’s the blessed time of year when we celebrate the birth of a baby boy with two dads and a surrogate mom.
Did I make you smile?
Just playing ‘em in another open tab, sister. Don’t wake Sonny if he is still resting heavy.
Check what out?
nonquixote, did you get a lot of snow in the storm just past?
I see where Madison, Wis. got 20″ according to Rockford weatherman.
It’s wonderful, thanks spudtruckowner.
Thanks, demi, just getting some music that doesn’t follow me if I have to go into a store is good.
Sorry the teeth are not letting Sonny Boy go easily, well at least it’s all over. He can celebrate later, at least by Christmas.
Am doing that. His bedroom is in the opposite part of the house. Not resting heavily. He’s already been up for more painkiller and his face is swollen. I just wince when I see him. Not physically, but on the inside. I don’t want to make it worse.
Sorry, also have a long lasting congestion, very tired of sounding like I haven’t been properly oiled.
No but I did notice we were all still here this morning.
We ended up with a soggy six and some drifting. If we had ice on the bay, or frozen ground and about 5 degrees colder we would have had the equivalent of about a foot plus with the heavy moisture content in it.
Daylight appearing a few minutes earlier. (just being cute, you’ve stirred the christmas kid in me)
Right? I’m hoping by the time I return to work I not only feel better but sound better.
Oh man. He’s really hurting. Yesterday he only wanted the 600 mg ibuprofen, but just agreed to taking a vicoden. Big :(
Oh gosh, snow… Always good for another round of denial.
Sorry. I’m a bit distracted with worry. It’s what, 3 minutes every day? Margaret, a little help here.
How many were extracted?
I’ll try to remember NOT to do my Leon singing impersonation if I ever get down your way.
Oh gosh. Arithmetic this early? Hang on.
All four. I just asked him how much more it hurts right now than yesterday. He said just one hurts more. I’m thinking also that having felt miserable for a day and a half, that’s his tolerance for the pain has lowered. Does that make sense to you?
Hi All!!
Happy few days before Christmas Saturday.
(up to catch up on the comments)
snorts coffee! *<{:{){{{
Good morning, everyone. Sorry to hear about the sickies — hope all recover in time to enjoy the holiday. Looks like snow in the forecast mid-week, just in time for my drive back from Indianapolis.
By this time of the season I am really sick of Christmas music. But a local radio station rebroadcast some of our Dec. 7th holiday concert, and we sounded pretty good for a community choir with two IU South Bend school choirs. There are some phenomenal student singers — solos knocked the proverbial socks off. And it was fun to hear us as the audience did, rather than from deep in the soprano section!
What’s your latitude?
Maybe Kuroneko will like this one better. Kitty Kat’s Khristmass
I want to say good for you with the little that you did get.
We finally got dug out about 1 p.m. yesterday with the plows getting through the drifts. It is such a liberating feeling to be able to drive (slowly) to get to the store.
In the olden days I am sure they would have waited a lot longer to get dug out of the drifts that we had.
The major highway was closed for 45 miles and many had to be rescued from their cars with snowmobiles and spent the night at the firestations in the area.
Morning Molly. Good to have a celebrity with us this morning.
Oh, off the top of my head: 34.0522° N, 118.2428° W
Good morning!
I for one am sick of all the “counterfactual” kinds of Christmas songs. All I hear in the stores have nothing to do with Christmas. “What a ya doing New Years?” Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”? Read the words carefully and ask: Is this what I want my kids to learn? Ostracize a different entity but then, when an adult “raises” that entity to historical levels, why love ‘em dearly.
WTF! Christmas?
Oh well, “The Little Drummer Boy” snuck by the censors.
This more is more like it.
Or this
I was raised with this level of Christmas celebration, with the Tony Bennet’s, Perry Como’s etc as an adjunct.
There is something so comforting about the well polished carols of the past. I see snow, color, love and sheer joyfulness!
Good morning msmolly. Cool to hear yourselves on the radio :)
I meant to ask you – with the BCS title game coming, how’s the mood there in South Bend? Excitement over the game?
Who brought the honking geese to the party? Oh, that’s just Ruth and Peggy.
Are you off until after Christmas, Peg? That should give you a nice rest and recuperation period.
I call bullshit. This is me, over here, vehemently waving the bullshit flag.
Yep, makes sense. He should avoid chips, nuts and peanut brittle for a while. Sorry, the math is a little intimidating to me right now but I get zero to two minutes daily. Should have been just a few seconds earlier though this morning.
Nice post demi. Thank you.
One of the things I enjoy about the Pull Up A Chair gang and FDL in general is the diversity.
To each his own.
Don;t need the longitude and I figured my latitude since it’s close: 29° 25′ 0″ N
OMG it is feverish. Local businesses all have messages on their signs. Although there was a ticket lottery, I think only the big donors had a prayer of getting them.
A fellow volunteer at the Performing Arts Center is a nurse, and her husband is an officer with the campus police. They’re going, trip paid by the university, but he will be working security and she’ll be a team nurse. Not a bad deal.
Here, the day has lengthened by 10 seconds. (Portland OR)
Yep. I go back to work Wednesday. I may venture out today long enough to buy a new book though.
Ha! So sue me.
Not a bad deal at all!
Playing for a National Championship is a big deal. I’m glad you live in an area where that is embraced :) Makes for a fun few weeks, everyone having something to share and be excited about.
Yeah. I got 17 in my math.
Safe trip for today or tomorrow when you leave for Indianapolis.
We are going to our oldest daughter’s on the 27th to Grand Rapids your old stomping grounds.
They have to share the twins on Christmas Eve/Day with the birth Mother so we will drive there.
We have a bullshit flag? That would be handy indeed!
You’re welcome. Could you whack the back of Kris’ head when you next see him? Thanks in advance.
(i asked Mr. Gazoogle and you are right on)
I keep one in my pocket. Right next to my old-timey barbershop comb.
I stayed home through it. Driving anywhere packs that slush into the undercarriage and then it freezes, not good news when that happens. I have a Swedish shovel powered by thirteen horses that puts the snow fifty ft in almost any direction. Makes short work of the 1/8 mile of driveway and the huge bank left by the plows at the road. What was that old commercial, “
don’tcouldn’t leave home without it.”I’m actually afraid those days are over. He is bigger, stronger, faster and maybe even tougher than me now that I’ve grown old, feeble and hairless.
My source says 6 sec for LA, the coordinates posted.
Hey, what have you got against the abusive other special, “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”?
And yes, I got my ‘proper oil’ sound from travel with some one who’s sensitive to the operating sounds.
Hairless! Bwahahahaha Yes!
The hair held all his power!
I am new the superior being!
Muahahahahahahahaha
/EndVillainScene
Well, alright. I’ll just have to put up with his smartypantsness. And, remember I have two sons, so I have learned a some tolerance.
One word: Trivialization.
That won’t do much for the ‘maters.
I had to laugh at your Swedish shovel. I will ask to borrow it next time. Oh never mind, when I borrow things they inevitably break and I end up buying a new one for the owner.
- new + now = coherent exclamation.
(because, you know, math.)
Shall we start calling pop Samson?
LMAO! Not surprising. It’s too early for me to do arithmetic. Or we could blame the snot in my head. Or we could believe I’m shitty at arithmetic. All of those work.
The ultimate in Christmas carols with low intelligence quotient and poor taste.
Chillax, man.
I know I was exaggerating the actual time, just the fact the solstice has occurred was cause for having a nice blazing campfire last night. Hot buttered rum and all that stuff.
Does anyone else remember Lambert the Sheepish Lion?
Let’s call him Lambert.
Remind me where they are in Grand Rapids. We lived in East Grand Rapids, kids both graduated from HS there. That’s the only place I’ve lived that I’d cheerfully move back to, despite the snow and the political conservatism.
Narrated by Sterling Holloway, btw.
He’s sucking you into this for a reason. Next he’ll tell you he can’t do the hard work, he’s lost his powers.
ROTFLMAO!
Oops! Your newfound superiority apparently didn’t include immunity from the typo scourge.
I just loved Sterling Holloway’s voice.
But of course!
I guess I’m a bit more grumpy because I have to deal with the results of getting rear-ended Wednesday afternoon. Not too bad; the car has no damage, but my SO has some whiplash showing up, and so far, I’m not but I am being encouraged to go for a checkup anyway.
I am grateful I own a Saab.
Nitpicker! Looks ok to me!
I say Grand Rapids, but it is really Alto, Michigan.
I love the area so I can see why you have good memories.
You ought to check it out, effects don’t always show up immediately, and time delay will definitely be a factor if you have to make any claims.
I fixed it with a stunning display of mathematical daring.
No white Christmas here this year, unless we go to the mountain.
Sorry to have to run off and miss the rest of this fun chat, but I have a s**tload of errands and to-dos so I’d better get “walkin and talkin” as an uncle used to say.
Have a good weekend, all!
Starbuck, sorry to hear about the accident. UGH.
*poof*
I will.
My wife’s favorite movie, that.
What did I marry?
(well, her favorite if you don’t count Twilight movies.)
If it was anything like mine, I’m not optimistic.
Gonna go make coffee…..
Where did my dad go?
Was I too mean?
Have a good one Molly.
Maybe he’s laughing too hard to type…
Why some reindeer have red noses.
Good morning demi and good morning everyone!! Our house has the sinus/cough thing goin’ on, hope to feel better by Christmas.
Now to read the comments and watch the music vids – Dylan singing Christmas? That’s gotta be a trip!
BTW, ChicagoDyke says hi, she’s busy unpacking as she’s here for the holiday.
I thought some of them had red noses because they drank too much scotch.
Learn somethin’ new every day.
Nah. I’m still here and I too have lots to do today And a miserable kid. Sheesh, folks.
Fun! Would you give her a hug from me?
That’s why we’re here. And, to share the grump. :)
I hope he gets better soon! No fun being in pain anytime, let alone Christmas.
Returned. No, not that the hug was no good, she sends one to you.
I think the vicodin kicked in. He seems to be sleeping well now.
Also, yesterday was his birthday and he didn’t much appreciate us joking that the surgery was his b-day present. (It cost enough.)
Gotcha. I bet you two will have a blast.
ROFL! In your best Ahhnold voice, I assume!
Something tells me this will come back at you in future family gatherings. You owe him.
Lulz. Lexi had to get a filling replaced on Wednesday. Fell out while she was eating lunch.
$76 later, we were leaving the dentist and she asked if we could go Christmas shopping for a couple of her friends. I told her we bought them her filling for Christmas :)
Yep!
Only $76? Where’s zat!
Well, in truth, we got him a new office/desk chair as his gift, but gave it to him early.
I think in a few hours I may call my mom and cancel the party. Dang it.
Right? It’s always something, ain’t it?
Or, I could just have everyone come to this house. Could be the ticket.
Taking pictures to share of the process also works. ewwwwww
John Lennon.
I’m going to be in and out, so carry on.
Off to start my day. Sorry for disappearing. Something came up.
Have a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas all.
Thanks for a wonderful postnhost demi.
Gotta lay down for a little while. Have a good one all.
Merry Merry to you and yours.
TTFN and Merry Christmas to all!
Take good care of yourself, Peggy. You’re probably all lots of fluided out, but maintain your regimen.
Maybe I’ll see you in the am. (((Peggy Anne)))
Thanks, for good company, to all. Out for now myself.
Another favorite around here. Thanks, oldgold.
Bye bye and hope both of you are feeling better soon.
Hunny Bunny. You and Cdyke have fun.
Thanks demi,
Hot oatmeal, with apple, raisins and a little splash of maple syrup.
Cheers, peace and joy.
My dental plan covers 80% of regular fillings.
So the real cost for the X-ray, the visit, the filling, was $380.
I’m out of here too, folks.
Oldnslow and I are going to be like Batman and Robin today.
I’ll let you guys decide who gets to be Batman and who gets to be Robin.
Have a great weekend folks :) Much love and best wishes to you all.
Yummmers.
I’m making a cranberry bread right now, and then blueberry muffins.
(to the tune of Oklahoma) Noooooonquixote, where the house smells like garlic all the time…..
Kris, my very warmest and sincere wishes for a Merry Christmas at your pad. You a doll babe.
Elvis.
Just had to come back and post this.
Bye!
Late to the party.
Strapping on the skiis this afternoon for some kamikazi downhill cross country skiing.(This 58 year old has learned how to fall gracefully.)
My best to all my fellow firepups.
This always happens to me for PUAC or the weekday Over Easy. Anyway for any still here or yet to come, the best of the season’s greetings.
((JClausen)) and,
((BearCountry))
Better late than never.
All Merriest to both of you.
(((demi))) for checking back. I may not be back until next year.
