I’m not sure what needs to happen in this country for people to actually wake up, stop waiting for Obama to do something. We need to make him DO IT, so how come the mechanisms to make him do what we want aren’t in place?
Do we need to create some new ones?

I think many of the “liberal” blogs, for example, have a problem right now because they won’t come out for national health insurance. Daily Kos and its editors consistently ignore it, and I don’t think Jane has ever made any noise about it either. In the longer run we should probably leave for blogs like ZBlogs or Corrente, but neither of these is on the scale of FDL right now.
How strange that software ends up being our limiting factor!
Yeah I only post clips from You Tube, etc Not from FLORA TV for example.
How much capital and expertise does it take to get a community-style website up and running anyway? I don’t know much about such things. (I just have my obscure little WordPress blog.)
For example, a site which was basic, robust, content-oriented, without many frills to begin with.
Other than the different levels of readership, what’s the infrastructure difference between Kos and FDL on the one hand and Corrente on the other? (I know Kos is alot bigger than FDL, but I still picture FDL as pretty big.)
Is it simply, at some point you need your own servers, a hired or volunteer professional tech staff, etc.?
If you try to take a strong approach the boards all censor you. I’m banned from most places and FDL is heavily moderating my comments at this point, presumably before they decide to ban me too.
Of course it is because they have got a lot of angry emails from the so-called progressives saying get rid of this lefty. The blogosphere is very heavily censored to keep thoughts from straying to the left too much.
What comments could you make that could get your banned?

Obviously the same comments that I have been making, which you can read for the most part except one comment was deleted I think.
I think they also censored one of my posts to remove the word “idiots” which to me seemed to be mild to the point of indicating the real reason for the censorship was to just find anything they could pick on me for. Another comment was edited without removing anything at all or any indication of why it was edited to add a generic “don’t attack people” sort of message even though I was the object of the attacks.
So specifically they seem to have found very little about what I am saying they can say is bad and the crowd of opponents or unofficial enforcers of conservative values here have actually been moderated more, yet here I am under heavy moderation now with each comment delayed while a moderator takes time to review it by hand.
Obviously this has a chilling effect on my political speech which is presumably the idea.
In brief the topics I find most heavily censored at these boards are (in order of decreasing threat):
(1) Anti-war sentiments expressing condemnation of US troops
(2) Pro-equality sentiments expressing criticism of feminism
(3) Anti-racist sentiments condemning Israeli occupation of Palestine
Since I haven’t done hardly anything about (3) and not much of (2) it’s a fair bet that (1) is the issue. Naturally the mods are not honest enough to make a straightforward statement about it so we have to guess. As an example of the sort of thing I mean try this diary by me:

I guess this is in the context of a country that still bans people from political affiliations on the left (ie communism) by law and where “socialism” is either a dirty word or means giving away huge amounts of money to the rich (but never both).
