This is a teaser for an article I wrote on examiner.com.
“For of you who are not aware, the United States of America is hurtling toward collapse.
Standard and Poors recently reported that it was giving the USA a negative credit outlook as a result of our uncontrolled spending and resulting deficit.
And if you want to believe the dog and pony show the ruling class is putting on, they can’t agree on how to resolve the deficit crisis. The Republicans and Democrats are arguing over $39 Billion in spending cuts when the real annual deficit is $1.65 trillion. It seems our country is divided between groups of people with different visions for the future…”

“The Republicans and Democrats are arguing over $39 Billion in spending cuts…”
If the cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is 3 billion a week, then the math suggests that if the present Republican Parties agree to end these wars 13 weeks earlier than planned, there would then be no reason to have any budget cuts.
Wait a minute! I think I am on to something here. Follow along with this: if they ended the wars tomorrow, not only would there be no need for budget cuts, but this country might even have money to feed, clothe, and house all of its citizens and maybe even provide them with universal health insurance.
But of course that will never happen.
And that conclusion forces us to consider a disturbing, never spoken reality: We will spend unlimited sums of borrowed money to kill the citizens of foreign countries in order to give them the benefits of our way of life that we cannot afford to give our own people because it is costing us a fortune to kill the citizens of foreign countries, etc., etc., etc.
Would you like your oil black and sulfur free? Be patient, Libya is the next stop.
“Each new dollar printed after the division by the Liberty Lovers shall backed in increasing percentage by specie(Gold, Silver, Platinum) The percentage shall begin at 1% the first year and increase 1% Every year for the next 100 years.”

Where will the steady supply of gold/silver/platinum come from? Sounds like a recipe for an endless deflationary depression.
I can understand the outrage over our present day Federal Reserve system but any reforms/replacements do need to be viable.
I don’t see why we cannot go back to the banking policies of the 1935-1970 period. It was a very stable system and promoted steady growth.
I too, thought 1935-1970 is the best solution. a strong base for growth.
IIRC, nixon killed our currency because other countries started demanding gold for dollars.
Yeah, Nixon…
But actually it’s been a lot of Presidents. Usury laws were eliminated under Carter. Reagan wrecked out S&L’s with his deregulation efforts. Elimination of Glass Steagall was an Alan Greenspan project which spanned a few Presidents etc…
there is no deficit crisis.
Talk of splitting the country up is ridicules. At best its not even a piss poor solution, its just plain naive and stupid.
Such talk only aims to further divide this country. Its vile and offensive. It is war mongering, and is fodder for shock jock radio talk show meaningless ass backwards lack of reasoning go no where fast arguments.
With the rise of registered Independent voters, in this nation of voters that are sick of our two party system, you have neither looked at the reality of this country in the present day, nor have let go of your dinosaur mentality. American’s have woke up, we no longer are categorized by party lines, we all are pissed off voters.
We equally reject the Status Quo, but are only divided on what a real solution looks like. But try as you might this collective ocean to ocean community will not divide, you and your separatists cronies will not conquer us by dividing us in your fanciful masturbatory quest for power.
No we will not become the divided the conquered the servants of anti-progress. You offer no solution you offer our destruction.
This whole article (I clicked through, but didn’t finish because it was fantastically stupid) is…well, it’s bad. And I’m not even opposed to the general idea in principle (balkanization) provided we can make sure the south has no economic or military resources in their possession before they’re left to go Galt.
One thing I will say – it’s just like some retarded right winger to think that the reasonable states are going to give up a single solitary square inch west of El Paso. Screw you, neo-confederate – you’re not getting your filthy southern hands on any of California.
And there is no deficit crisis.
The article is flawed in so many ways. It starts by requiring everyone to study the Constitution, then immediately rewrites the Constitution! Those darn Liberty Lovers – many of the rules sound more Fascist than based on the U.S. Constitution and its concepts of individual freedom. And I love the maximum limit on unemployment – set at 5 years over a 54-year working life (9%), it doesn’t add up to our current unemployment levels. So we get higher employment for Liberty Lovers through … Magic! Give me some of that!
It is an easy mistake to make, that the “wars” are against… some… “enemies” out there, or even as if they could invade, sneak in and be active within: all this is bull feathers.
War is a complicated thing, and has more than one simple “rational”, though the PR industry is busy playing a shell game with public perceptions, and constantly puts up one or another fake reasons for a given war enterprise. But with a little concentration, we can see that none of the most popular reasons or causes of the moment, stand up very long, IE: Iraq, WMD, or (Democracy Now God Damn IT!) Saddam is killing babies! or Saddam is an ass hole, or “Arabs make good targets to test the new weapons, better to do it over there, especially with the DU stuff.” ********* But ******* remember the privatization that was unleashed in Iraq, with Bremmer and his bunch of free market idealogues, juxtaposed, or ( just right next to ) the real reason, control of the oil fields, and reassertion of corporate proprietorship of resources and it’s management, which Saddam failed to abide correctly.
So: it’s a feeding frenzy for all, it does have a general purpose, resource stabilisation and acquisition which is best left unstated for diplomatic reasons. That seems to me to be the main reason for the smoke screen, and it serves the purpose just fine if the American tax paying plantation population is soothed with any bs that is fit to print, but if they figured it out so what… what they gonna do call their senators? Cross that bridge when they get there.
And this is a poor location to broach another topic, but who say’s tapping out the american surplus economic power, bringing down the living standard through profligate spending, ( mind you, while a lock step republican congressional block, with all the power, because the Democrats are no longer viable in any way, since Ted Kennedy died, they just SFU for all time, they now exist as a conversation piece. While the congress, debates cutting small change items important supports to the poorest and weakest, while a bunch of other things swim right on by, privatization here at home not just ongoing, but to expanding to wholesale dismemberment of this country.
And this: the war, has morphed to war an ongoing process, which will squeeze all parts of the worlds domains, including domestic populations who thought that they would be beneficiaries of the war for profit industry, but will find out only the top of the heap will be. It will seem kind of cannabalistic to these guys, when they figure it out. All them middle managers, low on the totum pole right wing self identified… useful dolts, who get canned just before retirement, no golden parachute! ie: “middle class”
You can say that again! And the only deficit problems are that people think the deficit a problem, and too much of the deficit spending is going to the wrong people.
