Apology to future generations of Americans for Obamacare (1 of 2)

4:18 pm in Uncategorized by Don Mashak

SCOTUS Chief Justice Humpty Dumpty Roberts

(Sorry, I was unable to get this article to all 300 blogs and Social sites that I wanted to before the end of the 4th of July Weekend due to health and other issues)

This 4th of July and 4th of July weekend, our generation celebrates
the inspired bold acts and sacrifices of our Founding Fathers. Their
Declaration of Independence from the tyrannical aristocracy of England
gave rise to our great nation. This same generation of Americans went on
to draft our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

These documents
were based the Principles of Natural Law developed during the
Enlightenment and structured in such a way to attempt to make it
difficult from WE THE PEOPLE from being subjected to unrestrained
tyranny ever again. WE THE PEOPLE became Citizens instead of subjects.
Elected officials would be known as Public Servants, and WE THE PEOPLE
were to be the country’s sovereigns. Those inspired bold acts and
sacrifices along with the brilliantly crafted Constitution and Bill of
Rights bestowed upon WE THE PEOPLE, the freedoms and prosperity we have
enjoyed for 236 years.

At the same time, our Founding Fathers
vigorously warned us of the precarious nature of Liberty. Perhaps that
warning is best remembered in Benjamin Franklin’s words as he was
leaving the Constitutional Convention. In response to being asked “What
type of Government have you given us?” Franklin responded:

A Republic, if you can keep it!

WE
THE PEOPLE should be ever mindful of the precious blood and lives of
the Founding Generation that our Freedoms and Country were the fruit of
lest we forget or betray that generation’s great personal sacrifices.

It
seems fitting, that this Fourth of July, 2012, someone of our
generation should apologize to the future generations of Americans for
our generation failing to heed the Founding generations warnings to be
vigilant in the defense of our liberty. WE THE PEOPLE have not performed
the inspired bold acts nor suffered the hardships nor made the
sacrifices necessary to preserve the prosperity and liberties our
Founding Fathers bestowed upon our own and previous generations of
Americans through their sacrifices in blood and lives.

Some of
this writer’s generation of Americans was willing to trade Liberty for
security. Other Citizens were too busy to be bothered. Still others
wanted just to “go along to get along” so they could just live their own
lives and avoid suffering reprisals for making anyone unhappy with
them. Some were not willing to accept the potential risk and
retaliation for daring to challenge the systemic corruption of our time.
And some of this writer’s generation, including this writer himself,
let others (clandestinely and/or accidently) ineffectively lead and/or
mislead the opposition to Obamacare into the complacency with
suggestions of almost certain victory.
And some, like this writer
himself, simply did not exert the necessary educational and persuasive
effort to prevail.

Before we go further, it is often said that
history is written by the winners. This apology is written from the
perspective of those that lost the fight to prevent socialized medicine
from being inflicted on America.
Through this writing, this writer
hopes to reanimate this generation to act like freemen and demand
freedom, to embrace the rigors of liberty, to cast off the duplicitous
tyranny that has befallen us and re-inhabit the Vision the Founding
Fathers had for this County.

APOLOGY

With
so many of this writer’s generation of writer’s openly professing how
much they love their children and how much they do and would sacrifice
for them, WE THE PEOPLE would be remiss to not take the blame and
apologize to future generations of Americans for inflicting Obamacare
upon them. The wide ranging detrimental effects Obamacare will inflict
on our country and future generations of Americans will be devastating
and irreversible and may well result in the complete and/or effective
demise of the USA as our generation now knows it.

Therefore,
before this writer says anything more, I apologize and accept total
personal responsibility for not working hard enough to educate my fellow
citizens as to why Obamacare will endanger our country, how it will
inflict great harm on future generations of Americans, and why,
therefore, it must not be made law.

However, before we begin with
the reasons and consequences requiring an apology to future generations
of Americans, let’s take a step back. Let us examine possible events
that might negate and/or mitigate the disastrous effects of Obamacare
between the writing of this article and its being read by future
generations.

EVENTS THAT COULD NEGATE AND/OR MITIGAGE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF OBAMACARE

As
the future consequences of Obamacare cannot be known with absolute
certainty, this writer would be remiss if he did not first address
events that could negate and/or mitigate this writer’s posited
consequences of Obamacare.

Pirates of Publicly Funding the Minnesota Vikings Stadium

7:27 pm in Uncategorized by Don Mashak

(In other States this should be titled – Pirates of Public Funding of Professional Sports Stadiums)

Having heard some of the criticism of his position on the public financing of professional sports, this author presents his peremptory qualifications as a football fan.

1) In Elementary school, when weather permitted recess was roughly evenly divided between school yard foot ball and deer tag;
2) In Junior High, during summer vacation, this author broke his hip playing sandlot football;
3) In Senior High, this author played on the High School Football Team;
4) In College, this author played intramural football;
5) This author was affiliated with certain undisclosed parties that smuggled kegs into Golden Gopher football games at Memorial Stadium during college;
6) If the this author had grown up in Minnesota, he would be a Vikings Fan;
7) If The ViQueens had had a winning team when this author first came from Wisconsin to Minnesota for College, he would now be a Vikings fan instead of remaining a Packer fan.

Having firmly established he is not some prissy poindexter that shares no love of the game and is just acting as a spoiler, we shall continue.

It is almost beyond reasoned belief that this debate of the public financing of a new stadium for the Minnesota Vikings continues.

Last year, in public hearing after public hearing, the WE THE PEOPLE showed up in great numbers and with great enthusiasm and said, “Hell No!” to public financing. Yet hear we are again in 2012, being bombarded with new angles on how to jam a stadium project that includes jamming public funding down our throats. Public financing of this nature is likely unconstitutional and/or certainly not in the best interests of WE THE PEOPLE.

The fact is Government has

Minneapolis MN based Best Buy to cut holiday hires in half – Who to blame?

7:27 pm in Uncategorized by Don Mashak

“As is this author’s normal routine a couple days per week, breakfast was enjoyed at the local Monticello MN McDonalds http://bit.ly/qvtHOm . (Their dollar Sweet Tea and dollar sausage burrito being the enticement)

And, in the complimentary issue of the Minneapolis Star and Sickle http://bit.ly/nz73BG appeared this article:
Best Buy to cut holiday hires in half http://bit.ly/o9REgO

“With the weak economy making it tough to predict holiday sales, the Richfield (MN, USA) -based electronics giant plans to call in 15,000 temporary workers, down from 29,000 last year.”

With its large market share, Best Buy, Inc.’s decisions portend the future the US retail economy. http://bit.ly/pSx86v

With the 30 days Winter Holiday Season representing 20% of the American economy, this economic indicator does not bode well for the American economy.
It occurred to this author that the Conservatives spin on would be as the fault of President Obama.

But who is really to blame for the current state of the US Economy?
Perhaps one of these two explanations will allow the reader to determine for themselves upon whom the true blame should be cast.

1) THE USA AS A CORPORATION WITH YOU AS THE SOLE OWNER

The first, and perhaps easiest to understand perspective, is to think of the USA as a company with you personally as the sole owner.

As owner, you have hired a management team to produce superior results.

After years of good results, the current management team has been reporting dismal results, similar to the results the USA Politicians are responsible for.

In the little more than the 20 years since your biggest competitor collapsed (the former USSR) giving you overwhelming market share, your management team has brought your company… your source of money, power, basic needs, superior luxuries and indulgent desires… to the brink of collapse.

How long will you listen to their explanations and finger pointing? Especially knowing that your reputation, power, personal freedom, standard of living and way of life hang in the balance? [Article Continues below almost universal translator]

Since most Americans are employees and/or sports teams fans, the author presumes you have witnessed how Corporations deal with poor performance. Heads rolls, presidents get terminated, Coaches get fired and employees get laid off.

And, as the sole owner of the USA, you would just as ruthlessly dispatch your current management team. The management team whose poor results you cannot tolerate for the reasons we have already listed, and some more personal reasons we have not.

Some of those additional reasons being emotionally based….”

Trainers & trained seals: US politicians’ & voters’ financial reality disconnect

11:55 am in Uncategorized by Don Mashak

.

These is a teaser for a article I wrote on Examiner.com:

“Anger overwhelmed this author upon seeing these two headlines next to each other on the front page above the fold:

This article began as a hyper-critical evaluation of elected officials.  Upon reflection, it seems voters bear as much responsibility as do the Politicians.

Let’s talk about the Vikings Stadium first.  Saying that the author is not a proponent of using public money to finance any stadium so billionaire Sports team owners can make a profit paying millionaire sports players to play kids’ games is an  vast understatement.

Vertaal na Afrikaans |Translate në shqip | ترجمةإلىالعربية | Թարգմանելհայերեն| Azərbaycan Tərcümə | Euskal Translate| Перавесці на беларускай| বাংলাঅনুবাদ | Превод на български| Traduir al català | 转换为中文(简体)|翻譯到中國(傳統) | Prevedi na hrvatskom | Translate to Czech | Oversæt til dansk | Te vertalen naar het Nederlands | Tõlgi eesti | Isalin sa Filipino sa| Käännä Suomen | Traduire en français | Traducir a Galego | თარგმნეთსაქართველოს| Übersetzen auf Deutsch | Μετάφραση στα ελληνικά| ગુજરાતીઅનુવાદ | Tradui kreyòl ayisyen | תרגוםעברית | सेहिन्दीअनुवाद| Fordítás magyar | Þýða til Íslenska | Terjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia| Aistrigh go Gaeilge| Traduci in italiano | 日本語に翻訳| ಕನ್ನಡಗೆಭಾಷಾಂತರಿಸಿ | 한국어번역| Translate to Latine | Tulkot uz latviešu | Versti į lietuvių| Преведете на македонски| Terjemah ke Bahasa Malaysia| Ittraduċi għall-Malti| Oversette til norsk |ترجمهبهفارسی| Przekłada się na polskim | Traduzir para Português | Traduceţi în română |Перевести на русскую|Преведи на Српском | Preložiť na slovenský | Prevedi v slovenski | Traducir al español | Tafsiri kwa Kiswahili | Översätt till svenska | தமிழ்மொழிபெயர்க்கவும்| తెలుగులోఅనువదించడానికి | แปลเป็นไทย| Çevir Türkçe>|   Перекласти українською| اردومیںترجمہکریں | Dịch cho người Việt Nam| Cyfieithu i’r Gymraeg | איבערזעצןצוייִדיש |

Simply our policy should be as follows: We do not negotiate with Terrorists, Hijackers, Kidnappers nor billionaire sports team owners who extort taxpayers for publicly financed stadiums.

As for why should everyone oppose publicly financing professional sports arenas:

First, if sports stadiums are economically viable, they are economically viable as private financing concerns.

Second, professional sports are not on the base rungs of Maslov’s hierarchy of Needs ( http://bit.ly/q4pIaA ) for the overwhelming majority of Americans. Put another way, if we prioritize the budget items for the Government’s Budget, a new football stadium does not make the top 999. (By the way, for the would-be detractors, in the interest of full disclosure the author is an avid football fan and played High School Football)

Thirdly, Public Financing of Stadiums represents a “Transfer of Wealth” from the average taxpayer to a small group of usually wealthy individuals. Put another way, it is unearned income otherwise known as welfare, in this case corporate welfare.  Put yet another way, it is the theft of property from producers of value just to give the rewards of their hard labor to someone that has not earned it.

Fourth, if we negotiate with one sports stadium extortionist, soon all states and municipalities must agree to competing extortion demands and the only ones who benefit are the sports teams owners and the politicians they give kickbacks to.

Fifth, given all the budget cuts that must be made, it is foolish even consider another expenditure.

Which brings us to the angering aspect of these two headlines appearing next to each other on the front page, above the Fold, in the local newspaper.

WHAT ARE THESE POLITICIANS THINKING ADVANCING YET ONE MORE DEBT OBLIGATION UPON THE GOVERNMENT WHEN OUR CREDIT RATING AS A NATION HAS JUST BEEN DOWNGRADED?

WHAT ARE THESE MINNESOTA POLITICIANS THINKING WHEN THEY JUST BALANCED THE STATE BUDGET BY BORROWING MORE INSTEAD OF CUTTING EXPENSES OR INCREASING REVENUE?

Are these politicians just disconnected from financial reality?

Is it not clear to every citizen that our elected officials do not have the best interests of WE THE PEOPLE (http://bit.ly/np9lGS) in mind when they make these decisions? Is not this very type of thought process in advocating the Public Funding of a New Football Stadium symptomatic of what has led to the downgrading of the US Credit Rating?

And now we arrive at the matter of Standard and Poor’s downgrading the Credit Rating of the USA…”
