The aptly named Uzi Dayan, the former Deputy Chief-of-Staff of the IDF stated yesterday, in response to the possibility of the Turkish Prime Minister accompanying a June Gaza relief flotilla :
"If the Turkish prime minister joins such a flotilla, we should make clear beforehand this would be an act of war, and we would not try to take over the ship he was on, but would sink it.”
So, our "greatest ally in the Middle East," the country that within the past two weeks has placed dozens of nuclear-armed cruise missiles in waters of the Persian Gulf within a few miles of some of the most valuable vessels in the U.S. Navy, is prepared to declare war against one of NATO’s longest standing members.
Jason Ditz, writing about Dayan’s statement, observed:
The explicit threat of war against Turkey is something new, however. While Israel starts wars with a casualness rarely seen in other nations, an attack on Turkey, a key NATO member with an enormous military, would be something quite different from a monthlong attack on the Gaza Strip or blowing up metro Beirut with air strikes.
The Israelis are acting more provocatively by the day. Investigative journalist Max Blumenthal, who is now in Israel, may be uncovering more lies right now. Max, perhaps more than any other individual, is tearing apart the IDF’s blatantly untrue narrative of the seizing of the Memorial Day relief convoy. Max is also urging American colleges and communities to more seriously consider seeking BDS moves against the apartheid state.
And another source tells me that more detail will emerge soon that validates what many people suspect to be the video of the murder of Furkan Dogan:

Good luck with that Uzi !!!
Israel seems bound to self destruct
Obama yawns, and whatever.
Very upsetting clip. Crazy bastards.
Great discussion on this apparent execution video going on at Tikun Olam.
BTW, the press conference at the UN by Iara Lee’s group satrted just a few minutes ago. Can’t find any media covering it.
Thanks so much, ET. Apropos BDS, there’s a movement afoot in Israel to criminalize it, with HUGE implications :
Max Blumenthal, who is there, has dual US-Israeli citizenship, IIRC. He is strongly urging US campuses to consider participating in the program. I wonder if the authorities will act directly against Max while he’s there.
BTW:
It hasn’t passed yet. But it sure is a big club.
Yeah, now I understand why Israel is claiming self defense!/s
What an excellent read. Thanks ET.
From the vids I’ve seen of this instance, I can’t really make out much.
Perhaps other versions have more clarity.
But I believe what the author states about the sitch . . . because he invokes testimony, and more, to back up his thoughts about the vid . . . .
Were there executions? No doubt about it.
There is no battle going on and the IDF assassins have obviously secured the ship before this cowardly murder.
The murderer takes his time. In full daylight, and exposed for all the world to see, he never even bothers to glance around furtively. He just casually pulls the trigger.
This guy is a stone cold killer and he should spend the rest of his life in prison, but Obama probably will invite him over to the White House for a beer, give him a medal, and recommend him for the next Nobel Peace Prize.
The hubris never ends.
This is what people are afraid of Israel going beyond ballistic and setting off a nuclear bomb, starting another war.

Israel Raises Nuke Threat to Iran
by Ira Chernus
You’ve got to give Israel’s leaders credit for creativity, if for nothing else. They never run out of new excuses for their violence, each more imaginative (and imaginary) than the last. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just gave his official explanation to the Israeli people for the deaths on the Mavi Marmara. And guess whose fault it was. (Are you ready for this?) Iran!
Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised, since Netanyahu and most of Israel have been obsessed with Iran as the source of all evil for years now. But how did he make such far-fetched connection? Simple: “Iran is continuing to smuggle weapons into Gaza. It is our obligation to prevent these weapons from being brought in by land and sea. … If the blockade had been broken, dozens and hundreds more ships carrying weapons could have come.”
Seems the Israelis have jumped the shark on this. It’s scary to think how far they may go.
It wasn’t full daylight, it was before sunrise and dark
He wasn’t casual, he was methodical like a well trained warrior.
The rest of your comment is spot on.
Until they are challenged and fought, they will continue to inspire fear and paranoia as part of their psyops.
Uzi Is Moshe’s Nephew
Thanks. I wondered if they were related.
I went back and checked and you’re right about it being dark. I mistook a spotlight for sunlight and I saw the spotlight reflected off something in the foreground.
The shooter sure looks casual to me.
Friend of mine, retired US Navy Captain, says if he was Israel he’d think twice, probably three times, before fucking with Turkey. According to him, their navy is not only much bigger and better equipped than Israel’s but the Turks are fearless aggressive fighters who “aren’t going to throw down their weapons, rip off their uniforms, and run for home”. He says if an Israeli ship fires on a Turkish vessel, the Israeli ship is most likely to get a missile up its ass.
My Uncle fought in WWII with a unit that a Turkish unit attached to it. He said they were the scariest, most fearless mo-fo’s he ever saw. Supposedly they would sneak out at night on unauthorized patrols and bring back the ears of Germans they killed. Said he never once saw a Turkish unit bring back a live prisoner. The field commander didn’t even bother to send Turks out on missions to grab enemy soldiers for intelligence interrogation.
ET, I just posted a new diary…
Are you surprised that none of the lame stream media is covering it…? ;-)
ET know you will expand and enlighten if you expand this story at Democracy now

And they wonder why we come to the net for the real news. Enough about what Sarah Palin has to say
The Turkish Prime Minster has said he would or might join the fleet?

Exactly, it started at 0430 in the morning…! They had a hit list and were carrying it out with precision…! 8-(
I think the post-siezure shootings are the biggest story lurking out there right now, other than the criminality of how BP got themselves – and us -into the Gulf oil spill. When I have more time next week (I’m teaching middle school kids how to write music at a Suzuki summer institute this week), I’m going to go back through all the live blogs of the Memorial Day massacre, looking for random clues. I understand a lot of countries live blogged it in languages other than English, but I haven’t found any yet in Spanish, the only other language I speak fluently. I suspect Turkish blogs who followed this in real time may reveal the most important clues.
One thing I predicted – others did too – was that the Israelis would keep and/or destroy all cameras and digital equipment from the participants in the flotilla. Their jamming didn’t succeed. We will learn a lot more.
isn’t it amazing how arab or in this case turkish young men keep getting shot between the eyes by accident?
Is Israel committing genocide? no (contrary to what others think)
but when kids keep getting shot square in the head it may make one believe it was intentional.
even a crazy zionist loving SOB ‘on jihad’ like me can get it.
Exchange emails with Cenk of Young Turks…! He translated some of the earliest Turkish video released…!
When I call the Israeli government fascist, I am not being polemic or hyperbolic. I am being descriptive. Both in the executions on board the Mavi Marmara, the whole operation itself, the treatment of Palestinians both in Gaza and the West Bank, the discrimination against Israel’s non-Jewish population, the penchant for the use of excessive force, even in circumstances in which no force is needed, its increased paranoia, now the threat against Erdogan, these, all of these are the actions of a fascist regime. We should expect more of this. We should not expect either peace or reason.
don’t forget those repulsive IDF T-shirts and the sick, twisted, murderous mentality they reveal. Dehumanization, eliminationism, an out of control, pervasive state, it is textbook fascism over there.
