Does the British Army get to recruit on U.S. campuses? How about the Canadian Army? Or the Mexican Army? No, they don’t.
But the Israeli Army – the IDF – gets to.
Increasingly, their appearances are being protested. No doubt, the U.S. Congress will soon be told by a certain foreign country’s agents to pass a law forbidding protests against these recruiting missions, and they will probably pass the bill with large bipartisan support.
Meanwhile students are doing what they can.

I’ve been watching the clips of these student protests. It does just amaze me how Israel is allowed to recruit IDF members from the American populace at our Universities who will undoubtedly be ethnically cleansing Palestinians. Makes me sick.

I tried to get two youtubes to embed in my diary. I pasted the embed HTML code into the diary, but every time I posted it, they were gone. Is there something funky going on with the embed function here for youtubes?
They changed the video embedding things since they upgraded MyFDL.
If you just go into the visual editor (visual tab, not html tab) and copy the links I provided above, or whatever other YouTube videos you want (in that format I used above) and paste them into the post where you want them to appear, and save, they should automatically appear.

Do you get an “automatic” exemption from the law about serving in another sovereign country’s military and losing your US Citizenship? My understanding was that it was not legal without permission of the US Government (last best example was the Flying Tigers in WWII)
Rahm Emanuel served for the IDF at a time when his own country — the US — was at war with Iraq (Operation Desert Storm).
He’s since served as a White House Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama, as senior advisor to President Clinton at the White House from 1993 to 1998, and as a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives.
Maybe the idf can get an American to run over a fellow American with a bulldozer to show that no favorites exist. When Rachel Corrie was killed, murray and cantwell made big noise about investigations and so forth. aipac told them to shut up and the whole issue was dropped.
Anyway, israel is not the 51st state, it is the capitol of the US. All decisions, foreign or domestic, about how the rest of the country runs must be vetted there. In israel full medical coverage, as far as I know, it’s no problem for them.

With all due respect, from what I can see of these youtubes, the soldiers don’t seem to be recruiting for the army in Israel. They seems to be trying to win sympathy and support for what the Israeli government and the Israeli army are doing. That’s very different from recruiting. Do you have links that indicate that they are actually recruiting for the Israeli army?
Of course he is recruiting for the IDF. You don’t have to set up a recruiter’s booth to be doing that. A significant percentage of new IDF recruits come from American colleges. If these talks lead to one additional recruit swearing allegiance to the IDF it is recruiting, however veiled the correlation might appear to some.

“The Israeli army hopes that a boost in immigration from Western countries, especially America, Canada and Britain, will help it overcome a shortfall in recruitment.
The IDF and Jewish organisations are planning new recruitment drives based on forecasts that larger numbers of immigrants from Western countries will arrive in Israel over the next decade — and on upcoming projects helping Jews in the 18-23 age group make aliyah.
“We are co-ordinating this effort with the Jewish Agency,” said Major General Avi Zamir, the commander of the IDF personnel department at a briefing last week. “They believe that in the next few years, we will see more olim from countries like America and Britain and we are working on programmes that will make it easier for them to join the IDF.”
The Jewish Agency is predicting that immigration to Israel from the West will go up in reaction to the antisemitism that has swept through Europe after the Gaza operation. Now that the potential for immigration from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia has been largely exhausted, it also hopes to reap dividends from the shift in focus and resources to English-speaking countries.
“I am not sure whether these forecasts are not largely wishful thinking,” said one sceptical official at the Jewish Agency. “But since we are mainly adapting existing programmes, it makes sense to be prepared.”
The IDF does not publish recruitment figures, but it has highlighted two key reasons for the shortfall: the rise in young Israelis who are not joining up for religious reasons — 11 per cent of male Jewish 18-year-olds in Israel exempted themselves from military service last year — and that immigration from the former Soviet Union has petered out.”

I had no idea the Israeli government/military was looking for military age new immigrants from out of the country. I knew that all Israelis must serve in the IDF after high school and wasn’t aware that the lack of new immigrants and people opting out for religious reasons was creating what they considered a shortfall.

No, the treason is allowing someone like Rahm Emanuel to hold dual citizenship and have access to national secrets and to have a good portion of the legislative branch actively serving the interests of another country over our own.
He also served in Clinton’s White House and gave White House access to an Israeli war criminal, the late Rafi Eitan, who was responsible for war crimes in Israel’s First Lebanon War in 1982.
And I’m sure Anthony Weiner and Debbi Wasserman-Schultz and her buddy Rose Lehntinin and a whole bunch of our selected representatives are whoring for Israel.

Soldiers are so versatile! The foreign ones recruit cannon fodder at American universities for their wars. We are doing that to our ‘special’ forces and I think it is brainwashing them to make them into crazy homicidal monsters. Perhaps these government programs need some supervision, more oversight, huh?
It looks like he is a foreign agent to me. Looks like a spy, acts like a spy, sounds like a spy, why are we putting up with this?
Of course they are and they have been for a long, long time. In fact, no one can get elected if they don’t. It has been a political fact of life.
We knew we were starting from a losing position, we can’t blame that on the players on the field. They had to get there according to how the game is being played, not by how we want it to be after we win. Presently that is a pie in the sky.
One thing about a lot of them that we CAN look into is illegal drug importing. That is a game they are playing, if we investigate that, we might be able to flip the whole game board.
Americans don’t like paying taxes for illegal wars to prop up drug dealers, so even being a past president wouldn’t save one from their wrath if it is exposed that that is what is really going on.
We will never know unless we investigate it.

My sister visited me yesterday. When I started telling her HOW I had planned to end war globally, she got really interested. My sister knows me and seeing her getting excited about my ideas told me she believed in me.
She doesn’t know how I planned to do it, but she believes me when I am saying I AM doing it – that was exactly what I needed.
I can’t wait to send her this video so she can see how it actually looks when people are doing it. She is big on Boy Scouts, very active. I was not BSing when I said I could do this, I knew what I was doing.
What this peace revolution needs is advertising and this video is perfect to do it with.

Personally, I wouldn’t want to breath their contaminated air, eat their contaminated food or drink their contaminated water, and I seriously wonder if any American soldiers or travelers are being warned about that hazard.

I was talking to a librarian who told me that a friend of his was in US Special Forces.
Over in Iraq, an Israeli (probably Mossad) would represent himself as CIA, and would present mission plans to this crew of special forces.
When they got into the air and landed, the guys knew that they were not in the location the “CIA” guy charted out on the map, and that they ended up “basically committing war crimes”.
Wolfowitz, Feith, and Bremer probably partnered with Mossad all over Iraq and Iran as well. I remember Feith allowed Mossad to do interigations in Abu Graib relating to Saddam’s suicide bomber life insurance program. I’ll look for a link.
One term that never came up in the wikilinks Iraq documents was Mossad. First term I checked.

Quite frankly, aren’t many countries already recruiting on campus in the guise of Uncle Sam. When OUR military is used by other countries so they don’t have to expend large portions of their national blood and treasure to amass a huge military complex–they know their ‘friend and ally’ Uncle Sam is only a phone call away (remember Kuwait???)–aren’t they, in effect, allowing Uncle Sam to recruit on their behalf?
I’m sure this is a dumb question, but ya gotta start somewhere. In the diary where we nominated Obama primary challengers, I said I wanted a Native American and pretty much named every one I know, which is Leonard Peltier and Buffy Sainte Marie. Yep, I’m pitiful. But sincere. I laid out my reasons: Chief Seattle, Chief Joseph, Sitting Bull, what if us now. It was pointed out that Sainte Marie is a Canadian. But I wondered, what does she recognize as the boundaries of her citizenship? Are Native Americans dual citizens? I’m thinking of the lacrosse passport issue. I don’t know how any of this is framed or resolved. But one of the reasons I really want a Native American — and I don’t even know what word they would prefer because either Native American or Indian is definition by an invader — is because I want that perspective brought to bear on Israel/Palestine. The original people here (I’m trying) have got centuries now of being on the losepath Palestine is on. What would they say if they had a say, THE say, outside their reservations? Do they even accept the reservation lines that they never drew? To tell you the truth, I don’t know. But damn, I wonder. I believe they know in their bones things we don’t, and that this nation is failing and the planet is dying because of white greed and stupidity. I long to hear their voices.
