This morning (Wasilla time), right after finding out about the Tucson shootings, I visited Palin’s political action committee site at which she had her list of targeted politicians with gunsight images over their congressional districts. I took several screenshots. The site, called Take Back the 20, has since been taken down.
Why?
As soon as Palin put up a “message” on the tragedy on her facebook page, I went to Palin’s #1 fan shrine, Conservatives4Palin, to see how they would react to Palin’s facebook post. They react to every post, tweet and comment Palin makes. Usually with a lot of genuflection.
Here’s Palin’s vacuous statement, as carried at Palin’s fan shrine article:
My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today’s tragic shooting in Arizona.
On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice.

I tried to organize a demonstration by her Lake Lucille house today, but many people are afraid to go.
Mission accomplished! While the gunman most likely does have mental problems this is a victory for the Tea Party. They know that people are afraid now.
Somehow, I do not see this as a victory for anyone.
I think that holding a candlelight vigil for those who have died and those who remain on the critical list would be a loving action to take now. Fear is always trumped by Love.

As it has come to my attention on another thread that the word liberal is evidently used in a disparaging manner by the right I would like to make it clear that although I sometimes refer to myself as a liberal, I am a progressive.
One of Palin’s close friends in Wasilla, whose kid was on one of my soccer teams, told my wife, “I’m not so upet that Phil is a liberal, it’s that he’s so proud of it.”
I’m also a progressive.

I did write them as you suggested on another thread. I doubt that these things (or the online petitions) really have much effect. If TLC was willing to broadcast that tripe in the first place, they aren’t gonna take it down because a few of us complain.

Only in a bubble unchallenged by free factual debate can such ideas exist without being exposed to the embarrassment of being proven wrong in public.
Tax cuts create jobs is a Tea Bagger idea for example but one which 8 years of Bush has disproved but real world examples with years of repeated experience mean nothing.
Its only the voice in their ear that tells them what they want to hear that matters.
Someone should write the Kennedy family – they got the mini-series yanked from the History Channel. You’d think they’d be more than concerned about this, which from anyone’s perspective was a political assassination attempt that also killed others.
Tell TLC we can start pushing for Cable free choice I for example don’t want to pay for basic cable to any cable channel that supports Sarah.
No Hispanic should be forced to pay for Fox News as long as Glen Beck and Lou Dobbs work there.
We can easily get tons on support for having people choose what cable channels they want to pay for in this economy.
Parents of young kids will remove the more violent channels I knew a Preacher’s daughter who only watched Sesame Street at home and she was 20.

I also think we all should call/fax/email our local Fox news affiliates and tell them to stop hate speech on their programs. This is a defining moment for America, and Fox is the largest establishment media purveyor of the rhetoric which set the stage for this tragedy.

Any of us living in rural areas, the Midwest, the South, know to the extent that these folks have gone. They are beyond reason. There are a lot of right wing militia in my Northwestern neighborhood (indeed they are the norm) who view the murders in Arizona, the murders of abortion providers, the murders at the Unitarian chuch in Carolina, and the many acts of violence committed by the Right, mostly unreported, every day, as a victory toward their goal of dissembling all commonwealth and bringing on a single party system under Old Testament law. Do not decieve yourselves into thinking that this is a turning point for the better. Their meme is firmly implanted in media and even to the highest offices of the land and well beyond that. Corporate puppetmasters jerk their crazy strings and the dumbest sheep dance. The tribe of murderers support the status quo. I wrote a year ago on this site that this was coming. And the way out from under their boot has not yet been expressed out loud on the disbelieving Left. Meanwhile they train with guns, the words of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, John Boehner and all the rest, inciting them forward.

As for the AP, where the hell were they in the summer of 2009 when Tea Partiers shouted down and physically threatened 80-plus-year-old John Dingell at a health care town in his district? About 99.99 percent of the divisive rhetoric came from the Right.
Really interesting. To take a step further, I was doing a lot of reading about ufo’s a year ago. One of the old astronauts was dying and wanted people to know that aliens are a virus-like being. He did a recorded interview. He said they get into your body and create anger. He imitated the noise they made, a truly bone chilling scream.
At the time I mentally filed it under Interesting. Keeping in mind all the anti-gravity, mega vibration hours his brain had spent.
