Oooo-weee! That fella’s voice sure sounded nervous. He knows he is in deep doo-doo. And yet, he still spouts the nonsense.
Notice who he does not look at the interviewer and the camera? This is a guy who knows his political career is over. Which is a good thing, as anyone who is willing to shout out at the president has no place in Congress.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Putting his foot down to make sure that proposed healthcare reform legislation does not include illegal immigrants, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) today successfully passed an amendment that excludes illegal immigrants from any benefit in the health care legislation currently before Congress.
“We cannot allow anyone who comes here illegally to take advantage of the benefits afforded to citizens of this great country,” Space said. “Healthcare reform that leaves the door open to illegal immigrants is a flawed plan. Taxpayer funds must be used only for American taxpayers, not illegal immigrants.”

If you have Medicaid, you have to show your birth certificate to the caseworker. I’ve done it for my son. So I guess Obama himself isn’t checking but a lot of other people are. And this bill states you can’t get this health insurance if you’re not lawfully a resident…i expect they’ll require birth certificates too.
These idiots are trying to say that if an illegal immigrant gets run over and is bleeding to death that he should not get treated at the emergency room. Give me a break. If you are in any other country, as an American, and that happens to you, they WILL treat you. I don’t know where this is going, or my point. Oh Well!!!
I can’t help but feel some sympathy for the guy. If this had happened during the Bush administration it doesn’t seem all that difficult to imagine a non-trivial number of us exalting, rather than admonishing, such a righteous outburst.
only one problem? I think this is the tip of the iceberg. As far as I know, nothing in the pending legislation expressly prohibits the government from forcing people to undergo medical probes aboard UFOs. In addition, how do I know that if I don’t sign up for the public option I won’t face some kind of retribution, perhaps in the form of federal agents descending on my home to debate the merits of Marxist theory, ad nauseam. That ought to be expressly prohibited, lest we see a repeat of the Great Schoolchildren Indoctrination of 2009.
I’m kidding, of course–but my point is that we can create false concerns — death panels, the public option as a handout for illegal immigrants–endlessly, but it’s all a distraction–and often a way to play on peoples’ fears. Lou Dobbs and others have done a great job of ginning up fears over the hordes from south of the Rio Grande, and Wilson’s insolent screech is a page from Dobbs’s playbook. Let’s stop playing on peoples’ fears, please.
Imagine if a Democratic member of Congress had done the same thing during an address Bush gave to Congress.

Does he know how many immigrants grow prepare cook etc his food? The guy is asking to spread the swine flu.
Immigrants don’t get shots for the swine flu whether its the food processing industry or the restaurant industry do you want some guy making a few hundred burgers an hour to high school kids on lunch break breathing, coughing etc on the burgers with the swine flu or would you rather he have a free swine flu shot?
Joe you have lied. The fact that you can’t back up your claim shows you never expected to be called on the lie.
The Dems need to understand kids/GOPers need limits they will push things until you the DEM/Parent set limits.
We need to call out the GOP and make them back up their statements more. That is the good news I think after this even the TV Dems will be more demanding of the truth with the GOP.
The bad news is the GOP has no respect for Obama as President.
I really hope the comments here that Joe’s career is over are right.

ERs have to treat emergent problems, papers or no papers. As they should, morally, ethically and as a public health matter.
But this law does not allow people who are here w/o documentation to get the health insurance. Whether I agree with this or not, it’s an amendment that’s already passed.

It is obvious Rep Wilson has no respect for the President. His feelings towards black people are well known-now we have a black President and it’s killing him. Joe Wilson should definitly resign. How are we ever going to be United if we still have people like Wilson in positions of influence. It’s sad in this day and time bigotry/hatred still hangs over this country. For Wilson to outright display such insubordinate behavior proves he still lives in hate, and that’s very scary.

His opponent, Rob Miller, has raised over $100,000 in fewer than 24 hours through ActBlue – i say we kick that up a bit!

Just a leetle bit nervous… guess he saw that same email I received today (maybe in draft form) about each one of those two words costing him about $200K. In donations to his Democratic opponent in the mid-term elections.

a friend told me that one local news site just ran his photo (the one of him at the moment of his outburst) with the simple caption “Idiot”. She didn’t say what site it was.. but I think that that says it all in terms of the reception of his more sensible constituents to his antics.
I am curious what these rethugs plan to do when illegal immigrants get sick or injured? turn them away from emergency rooms? send them back to their own countries for treatment? just let them bleed?
‘course if things keep on going as they are, we may not have a whole lot of illegal immigrants within a few years. Some reports suggest that nearly half have left over the last year alone. Why stay in a country without employment prospects where the locals refuse to acknowledge your basic humanity or dignity? Perhaps we’ll be the illegals, in Canada.
Or if an illegal immigrant is coughing up tuberculosis during a big city Catholic mass… sorry, no treatment for you. But, here, have a cracker.
we’ve seen already in AZ that rethugs have no problems dealing with TB patients, illegal or not. They lock them up in jail cells, cut off from all human contact, without books, TV, reading materials, showers, or anything else, for over a year, like Maricopa County Torturer/Sheriff Joe Arpaio did to Robert Daniels. The poor man escaped from a hospital and fled the country and now Arpaio is pursuing him on an international fugitive warrant. Just for spite. He never did commit a real crime as far as anyone can tell. Rethugs can be very attentive to healthcare when it comes down to it…

Maybe the republicans would be happy if we set up INS offices in every medical facility and we would all, at all times, be required to have photo ID, passports and birth certificates on our person…kinda like Nazi times?
