National anti-fracking group launched

A new group called Americans Against Fracking, which claims more than 100 members including environmental, civic and religious groups, said it seeks a national ban on hydraulic fracturing “and drilling associated with fracking.” The group mentions in its press release that efforts to regulate the industry have been unsuccessful and only an outright ban will suffice, along with restrictions on related oil and gas production activities.

“Americans Against Fracking supports federal, state and local efforts to ban fracking and to stop practices that facilitate fracking like natural gas exports, frac sand mining and pipeline construction.” It calls for a move away from fossil fuels toward renewables.

My comments:
This brings to mind that among the Obama Stimulus packages were some monies for the battery industry. It didn’t amount to much, in the overall scheme of how monies in Washington get passed around. (Can’t remember if it was hundreds or tens of millions, or even less than that.) But that money allowed for some major shifts in the battery design for storing the energy created by alternative energy sources. Because of that, we are seeing the Volt being launched. With widespread consumer admiration. We are seeing a solar plane in the works, with Mainstream Media, like “Sixty Minutes” reporting on it.

We are at a tipping point. We need to keep our environment as pristine as possible, until the alt energy designs start to impact every natural resource out there. Trading away our aquifers for our natural gas doesn’t make sense.
