And ends with Moyers calling for reinstating the draft. That would bring things to a head pretty quickly for sure :)
Absolutely, Rangel was right was back when.
I think a draft would be a terrible idea. Sending people to war doesn’t make them into happy campers. It makes them into violent thugs. It’s a huge violation of human rights and of course it would be an entirely sexist draft too. Young men are the least likely group to vote and nobody really cares what happens to them. many people would in fact say, “Get those lazy bastards a bit of discipline!” and “That’s one way to solve the 52% unemployment rate in 18 to 24 year olds.”
I offer a counter-proposal. Let’s draft all the women between 18 and 26 years old (the age men have to register for the draft) as official army whores. That would be a great boost to force moral I think (better than being sent a few candies or magazines) and it would allow women to fully participate in the joy and glory of war — which they tend to otherwise miss out on don’t they?
Now some might say that it is an undue imposition but I say if all the men are expected to risk their lives and limbs, the least the women can put up is their ******s.
And since women vote more and everyone cares about them, whereas nobody cares about men, their draft would be much more efficient in getting people to stop war wouldn’t it?

That call is a just a few years too late. Due to the state of the economy there aren’t any jobs, so the meat quotas have been met.
Such a good program….geez, I love Moyers. And, I agtee with the draft idea…for purely instrucive reasons, if nothing else. If war is good enough for the ghetto, poor, less-educated home boys, why, it’s good enough for the Bush-Perot-rest of the rich powerful who are so happy to vote for war and sit back and watch and collect ill-gotten $$. A draft: maybe it would have called for a few minutes thought before going into Bush’s Iraq new toy. He couldn’t bother about Katrina; but billions for Iraq? You betcha

What board was that and what handle did you have at that time?
You do seem to be trying to start a flame… well I wouldn’t say “war” since that implies I’d be shooting back. More a sort of poison pen campaign. If you continue with this it is only fair that I know who you are (ie your old forum handle) so I can try and remember the context (although after seven years I probably won’t) to be able to defend myself from your attacks.
Or you could just cut it out and let a seven year old grudge die.
We only have our reputations here so your attack on my reputation, essentially anonymously, is unfair if I don’t get to defend myself wouldn’t you say?
