Happy Thanksgiving
It was 1976, I was living in the Bay Area back then.
My biggest fantasy was to go to The Last Waltz on Thanksgiving
Just wanted to go Up on Cripple Creek
Ronnie Hawkins showed up, Who Do You Love?
Neil Young was there, Helpless
Superstar Jam
Don’t Do It, don’t you break my heart … but they did and it was over.
To dream, perchance to waltz.

Oh man, I would have given anything to be at that concert. Here’s my favorite:
I Shall be Released
Yep. This one, the Band, Dead, and Allmans at Watkins Glen, Monterey Pop, and the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East when they played all night are the concerts I most wish I could have been in attendance.
2, 3, 4 and 7 have been removed by user – it says.. :(
rats!
thank you for this Elliot
I was there. an embarassment of riches in a very charmed youth. love the film and yet no matter how many viewings I still find it doesn’t quite convey how truly monstrous they were as a band that night. Muddy Waters, Dylan, and Joni Mitchell on the same stage but I went home struck by how great these guys were
*wistful sigh*
I am sooo jealous
The History Channel had a sepcial titled “Woodstock: Now and then” which had a nice segment on The Band and interviewed Levon Helm who is still playing music in the community.
