Credit where credit is due, he didn’t back down. Ryan wasn’t forced on him by the right, “they’re brothers from a different mother”.
Romney’s gotta know he’s in trouble when even the NYT’s David “Bobo” Brooks blasts him for his tone-deafness.
Nice to hear what he really thinks. Mitt lies so much that this is actually a breath of fresh air. He could go with this, the honesty thing and all that.
Notice how clearly and naturally he spoke in the leaked vid? That’s because he wasn’t weighing and filtering every word before letting it go.

I cannot believe that sabotage is not involved in this campaign. The actions of the Romney team is just too clueless to be a mistake.
I don’t know, monetary recycling is the only reason I can think of that this “campaign” hasn’t yet shriveled and died of embarrassment. By now it’s even lost its function as resume feeder for the 2016 crowd.
Your point about him being markedly more at ease, more himself, when saying extreme things in private to fellow 1%ers, is well taken. The flip side is that the bumbling, stumbling speaker we are used to from his public appearances makes very clear that he is very, very repressed inside the public persona he has had to adopt to run for the WH.
You know, this guy could still win. And if he does, despite letting the mask slip, after letting himself in for all this abuse from people his real persona so obviously despises, if he does make it anyway, his id at least is going to be out for some payback. As a BMOC back at his boarding school, the worst outlet for his bullying was shaving/assault&battery on the class queer. God knows what form it could take when he has the powers of the presidency to play with, and habeas corpus conveniently already suspended for him.
We’ve talked for a while about our “imperial presidency”. Damned if we may be about to get our own version of Nero or Caligula.

If I were the Obama campaign and I were wanting to make hay in Virginia. I’d point out that the state that gets the second largest amount of federal dollars was a “victim” in Romney’s eyes since many of the positions here are reliant on the federal government.

book – THE BUYOUT OF AMERICA – Josh Kosman. Great book to find out what Bain Capital and Private Equity is about. The book was written in 2009 and mentions Bain but is really about ‘the financial engineers’ that are ‘investment bankers’ who extract money from firms and leave them crippled. The book also gives a lucid explanation of derivatives (fraud I would say, pig in poke. . .). Important to read this right away, before the election.
Also read “RETIREMENT HEIST” by Ellen Schulz. What happened to the pensions of millions of workers, how they were stolen, and by whom. Romney is planning to privatize the US via a leveraged buyout. Seriously. Run the USA further into debt and then. . .sell it at fire sale prices. .. .to investors. The oligarchs – your new Owners.

Despite the clear contempt for the press people that he had to interact with so he could put out those pathetic excuses to spin the video, and the classic stiffness and stumbling speech observed here, clearly he was hugely relieved to get it over with and walk away.
I really don’t know why Mitt wants to be president. He has no ideas, no principles. Whoever said it last week was right…he is just an ambitious man. Thinks he’s entitled to the presidency, somehow.
This is happening way too often; Bush I, Bush II, Dole, etc….it’s their “turn,” etc. etc. We’ve given way too much power and importance to the presidency, and this is part of the result. Good people don’t run, and terrible people do.
Let’s see, 50-how-many days left? I just want it over, though I’m terrified to see how it turns out…no good results possible, just less bad.

I want this and the many, many Sneering Plutocrat utterances from this shitweasel to help erode the conservative ideology that’s been strangling this nation for the last thirty plus years, and finally pull the scales from the eyes of the 47 percent who keep slitting their own throats voting for sneering plutocrats like this. My wife and I make an income higher than the magical middle class cut-off and we are both Democrats, decidedly left of the position of the current party platform. We know many couples just like us who have a vision of this country that is not, “every man for himself.”

That’s the real headline of the Romney tapes, those SS recipients are most of the 47% who pay no (income)taxes – and a whole lot of them are Romney supporters.
Nobody on the left seems to get that.
A LOT on the left “get” that RMoney is dissing those on Soc Sec for being LAZY MOOCHERS, who are slackers with their hands out expecting soemthing for nothing… despite the fact that the *majority* of those on Soc Sec PAID into it and are now getting their money back, just like the annuity program it is.
The issue is that the TeaGOPers don’t “get” what Mitt is saying about Soc Sec moochers. See my commentary @25 above. Many in the TeaGOP are on Soc Sec & Medicare, yet they’ll dance with joy at Mitt’s words because they foolishly and stupidly believe that Mitt is talking “those OTHER people,” not them!
Such TeaGOPers are delusional bc they actually believe either that they are in the 1% already – when they’re not – or that somehow the 1% “likes” them & smiles upon them, whilst shitting all over everyone else.
We’re not talking logic, reason or facts here. We’re talking deluded mostly bigoted Fox “Nooz” & Rush Limbaugh addicts, who’ve been carefully taught to vote against their own interests.

It reminds me of religious folks who imagine that God is on their side and that they are a member of the chosen few, forgetting that it was this same God who set up the whole sin-redemption, hell-heaven, in group-out group structure that they had to jump through to begin with. Voting against one’s own interests and deferring to “leaders” is the secular equivalent to this some sort of authoritarianism.
I really think it’s all about Lady Ann. He clearly adores her and would love to give her the gift of hosting state dinners, the White House Christmas party and overseeing the White House re-decoration.
I agree. He isn’t going to govern for the 53% who “take personal responsibility and care for their lives.” He’s going to govern for the 1% who will offer American nothing but financial predation, fraud, environmental rape and societal destruction.
The people in that room with him were his only constituents and he, and they, know it.
