So who’s cooking what today?
I myself am not hosting a picnic, I’ll be collecting neighborhood cheeseburgers later this afternoon, but I came across this tasty looking vegetable platter I thought you guys would like: A Farmgirl’s Dabbles’ Miso-Butter Grilled Veggies with Basil-Mint Pesto. She grilled up asparagus, portabella mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers, and zucchini. Obviously a fungible list. You can get the full instructions at her place, along with the recipe for the miso butter and the basil/mint pesto. She also has an easy pickled red onion recipe you might want to try.
I found this on Pinterest, a while back dakine01 suggested using it to bookmark recipes you find on the web, he was right. It’s a good place to stash links to recipes you’re interested in, and also to find others – be aware though, there’s a lot of lovely desserts pinned over there.
Speaking of desserts, what treats will you share with family and/or guests today? I have an ice cream maker sitting on the shelf unused – tragic, really. If I were entertaining, and even if I didn’t make my own ice cream, I would serve up several flavors for a Sundae base and spread out a variety of sprinkles and sauces and fruits. And of course a big bowl of whipped cream, that’s mandatory. No maraschino cherries here though, do you have any idea what they do to those things? And pity the nearby bees. (I top my sundae with crushed M&Ms, yes equally dyed but not lyed.)
