UPDATE: John Oliver breaks FCC website

FCC site reports technical difficulties after HBO host encouraged viewers to submit their thoughts on ‘cable company fuckery’

The US Federal Communications Commission website reported technical difficulties because of heavy traffic this week hours after comedian John Oliver called on viewers to share their thoughts with the agency about what he called “cable company fuckery”.

One profanity-ridden post concluded with: “John Oliver told me to do this.”

Original post:

John Oliver laughsplains Net Neutrality and calls for the trolls. This is so worth watching. I’ll give you one tidbit, he says putting former cable industry lobbyist Thomas Wheeler in charge of the FCC is just like hiring a dingo to babysit.

Cable companies are trying to create an unequal playing field for internet speeds, but they’re doing it so boringly that most news outlets aren’t covering it.

John Oliver explains the controversy and lets viewers know how they can voice their displeasure to the FCC.

The Daily Show bids adieu to John Oliver with an affectionate retrospective of his 7 ½ years with them. Oliver’s off to his own show on HBO — and apparently he’s running off with TDS’s head writer(!!).

The new talk show’s slated for an hour on Sunday nights. “The lanky, energetic Brit has been widely praised for his sharp take on American pop culture and for his ability to pull  off absurdist stunts in interviews and field reporting assignments for Daily Show.”  So we can’t miss him because he won’t go away.
