The best thing that all these jackasses could do for the Occupy Wall Street movement is to stay in the background and keep their pieholes shut.
In fact, if the really wanted to help the movement, they would condemn it.
Of course, they likely can’t see that since they are blinded by their own egos.
Bill Clinton “I am occupy Wall Street.” Yeah right. You represent the 99% of the USA about like you represented the 99% of Rwanda. You represent the 99% of the USA about like you represented the school children in Haiti by using your foundation’s money to purchase formaldehyde laced trailers from Warren Buffet’s company, Clayton Homes and shipping them to Haiti.
Obama “I am occupy Wall Street”–don’t even get me started. I don’t have all day. What I want to know is: Mr. President, how will you explain this endorsement to your pal and financial advisor, Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE?
Triple Rec’d, Fairleft! Just scrumptious!
Yeppers; them folks shore do support OWS; as long as they can parlay it into being good fer the Democratic Party and all. Great diary. Just cynical enough. ;o)
Thanks for the laughs, srly.
We need to let the democrats know unequivocally that if they had been representing us in Washington we would have need to go into the streets in the first place and put that up front and center .
A little cynical, hopefully not too much.
Or it’s science fiction, early warning of a possible future, how OWS dies, mutates, or becomes a nostalgic memory.
The movement needs enough form so it can say something like that, i.e., F&*K OFF Dems or at the very very least F&*K OFF died-in-the-wool neoliberal, DLC Dems. There seems too great a dedication to structurelessness, but I hope ‘they’ have some tricks up ‘their’ sleeves.
All of the above may become Occupy Wallstreet when they don their long underwear, grab their thermo-rests and sleeping bags and spend the night on the cold cold ground, preferably at one of the locations the local police grace with a pre-dawn raid.
Watch out for the “me too!” brigades!!
I would welcome Trumka into the movement. He’s been working at this since he replaced Sweeney a few years ago.
It will not, must not fade into obscurity: If not now, then when?
NOW!
Oh…Trumka showed up one day this week. Wonder if anyone said we’d take him seriously when his union would refuse to endorse Obama? Not just issue a statement that the AFL-CIO would scrutinize Democratic candidates before endorsing them, and filling their campaign coffers…again.
The mandarins of the Democratic Party are working 24/7 to turn OWS into part of the re-elect Obama apparatus. Chances of that happening: close to absolute zero.
I would love for the OWS to use their GA to nominate one of their own as a Presidential candidate.
And ask the rest of us to help get that person on the ballot in all 50 states.
That would put an end to the Democrats trying to co-opt this movement.
I agree that this movement is definitely far down the road past democrat versus republican. I actually do not see either party being able to co-opt the movement in that 95% of the reason for it is the utter collapse of any responsiveness by government under a supposed Democratic president! We knew that Bush was just nuts, but then we found that Obama was bought, ineffectual, or well, you fill in the blanks. But it really doesn’t matter anymore. The solution seems no longer to be one that the government can or is willing to do anything about. Knowing the world over we are not alone is very empowering. I’m ready for the new narrative.
Obama killed the last remaining hope that the Ds were in any significant way different that the Rs. I think he played his own clueless, corrupted but critical role in incubating this movement into life.
This is the man these gentlemen serve, straight from the lips of Woody Guthrie’s “Mean Talking Blues.” This is who No.2 works for:
“I’m the meanest man that ever had a brain,
All I scatter is aches and pains.
I’m carbolic acid, and a poison face,
And I stand flat-footed in favor of crime and disgrace.
If I ever done a good deed — I’m sorry of it.
I’m mean in the East, mean in the West,
Mean to the people that I like the best.
I go around a-causin’ lot of accidents,
And I push folks down, and I cause train wrecks.
I’m a big disaster — just goin’ somewhere’s to happen.
I’m an organized famine — studyin’ now I can be a little bit meaner.
I’m still a whole lot too good to suit myself — just mean…
I ride around on the subway trains,
Laughin’ at the tight shoes dealin’ you pain.
And I laugh when the car shakes from side to side,
I laugh my loudest when other people cry.
Can’t help it — I was born good, I guess,
Just like you or anybody else —
But then I… just turned off mean..
I hate ev’rybody don’t think like me,
And I’d rather see you dead than I’d ever see you free.
Rather see you starved to death
Than see you at work –
And I’m readin’ all the books I can
To learn how to hurt –
Daily Misery — spread diseases,
Keep you without no vote,
Keep you without no union.
Well, I hurt when I see you gettin’ ‘long so well,
I’d ten times rather see you in the fires of hell.
I can’t stand to fixed… see you there all fixed up in that house so nice,
I’d rather keep you in that rotten hole, with the bugs and the lice,
And the roaches, and the termites,
And the sand fleas, and the tater bugs,
And the grub worms, and the stingarees,
And the tarantulas, and the spiders, childs of the earth,
The ticks and the blow-flies –
These is all of my little angels
That go ’round helpin’ me do the best parts of my meanness.
And mosquiters…
Well, I used to be a pretty fair organized feller,
Till I turned a scab and then I turned off yeller,
Fought ev’ry union with teeth and toenail,
And I sprouted a six-inch stinger right in the middle of the tail,
And I growed horns…
And then I cut ‘em off, I wanted to fool you.
I hated union ever’where,
‘Cause God likes unions
And I hate God!
Well, if I can get the fat to hatin’ the lean
That’d tickle me more than anything I’ve seen,
Then get the colors to fightin’ one another,
And friend against friend, and brother… and sister against brother,
That’ll be just it.
Everybody’s brains a-boilin’ in turpentine,
And their teeth fallin’ out all up and down the streets,
That’ll just suit me fine.
‘Cause I hate ever’thing that’s union,
And I hate ever’thing that’s organized,
And I hate ever’thing that’s planned,
And I love to hate and I hate to love!
I’m mean, I’m just mean…”
Universal and Timeless-The continuing struggle of the Resistance. This group is a bunch of blow-flies.
Hate to speculate on the point, but I think that Bloomberg is just patiently waiting for the cold weather to set in. If we can’t supply the protesters with heated tents and soup on wheels, there will probably be a decline in the movement in NYC and other cities.
I hope that the leadership is thinking ahead.
