Just got the news Obama awarded Dylan the “Medal of Freedom”.
Also heard Julian Assange lost his appeal against extradition, based largely on the fact as soon as he gets to Sweden, the U.S. will move heaven and earth to get their hands on him.
How about it, Obama? Do Julian and Bradley Manning get “Freedom” medals too?
Thank goodness the dark days of Bush are over and we are living in this new era of transparency.
Dylan should have given the medal back, like the Vets at Chicago. I hope it hangs heavy on your neck, Bob.

It seems that the SC justices are open to reopening the case, though, and I haven’t a clue if that means they’re also open to changing their opinions.
“Assange’s lawyers believe that several of the justices on the seven-judge panel relied on that principle of subsequent practice in deciding that a public prosecutor had become accepted across Europe as a judicial authority.
Significantly, the court appears prepared to consider whether arguments about the Vienna Convention were raised sufficiently during the hearing. Because of security concerns the judgment was not circulated beforehand, so Assange’s lawyers did not receive it in time to make representations at an earlier stage.”

It looked like Dylan didn’t talk to him, but took the medal, shook his hand, and left without making a speech.
Dylan is reclusive. Obama says he can order Americans to be Murdered if they don’t do what he wants.

Rec’d, firebagger. Several of the other honorees should give back their medals as well, given Obama’s record on civil rights: Toni Morrison, Dolores Huerta, John Doar, Gordon Hirabayashi.
I’m disappointed in Dylan for accepting a Medal of Freedom from Obama, but can’t say I’m surprised, especially after that really creepy in a bad way Victoria’s Secret commercial he was in years ago.
Maybe I’m being too cynical again but I just see this as a play to get out the us liberals and hippies his administration had no problems insulting. You remember. Everything from sanctimonious to fucking retarded.

I like Dylan but wouldn’t vote for Obama if he gave him 50 medals. Trying to trick the left seems standard operating procedure for this administration.

I don’t blame Dylan so much as Obama. Dylan is getting up in years, from alll that he’s been through it’s hard to say how on top of stuff he stays. I feel it was pure hippie exploitation move.

Dylan is the most amazing songwriter/poet America ever produced. Of course, he owes that to a lot of people whose influence shows in his art. And some of those people paid the dues that a lot of us are paying now, like Woody.
