Lynne Stewart, an activist lawyer who spent a lifetime defending mostly indigent, high profile clients and pushing back against the system, is free.

She was defending the “Blind Sheikh,” and violated a probably unconstitutional “anti-terror” law. Under the Clinton administration she received a relatively short sentence.

After Bush was elected, John Ashcroft went out of the way to get her put into prison. She got 2 years. In 2010, she was resentenced to 10 years. George Bush”s cousin sat on the panel of juddges that ordered her resentencing.

She is dying of cancer.

Another wonderful example of 911 hysteria stomping on liberty.

Her story is fascinating and worth reading.

If they could do it to her, they could do it to any of us.
